I can confirm this. Not just BKK is dead, but pretty much all the main tourist hotspots are also on their knees. I actually made a thread the other day about it, for which I was repeatedly shot down and told 'it's busy where I am' etc etc.. Mostly nonsense from the usual suspects here. I am in Koh Chang now and it is dead as can be. It's actually quite depressing. bob.
