Same same every burning season here they don’t do anything to stop it which they could and the air pollution is just terrible. Here you can’t go outside without your throat or ice starting to burn CIT.

He has made the mistake of buying there, no plan b, lacks the intelligence, and the financial means of leaving! Any other questions Einstein?
You arrive in 3 weeks? Why don’t you spend the winter there if it’s such a great retirement destination ?
and choke on the smog?
not such a nice place now is it sticky?
cat got your tongue?
tell us about your heavenly retirement destination!

No he doesn’t like to live there, but he’s stuck there like most in Thailand.
nobody chooses by choice to live in one of the most polluted cities on earth.

Thanks but there is no need!
I love CM. It is my retirement dream, with my long term partner, and we will not be scared away by comments like yours!
It of course it’s your retirement dream, who wouldn’t want to spend their golden years in a polluted sesspool! Sad to hear you’re stuck there!

No, perfectly healthy, but coughing and sinus infections were the early warning.
didn’t wait for anything more serious, which by the way was coming!
im too intelligent to wait!
why would I or anyone for that matter?
wearing a mask, and spending my time indoors with air purifiers wasn’t my retirement dream!
I didn’t work hard all my life for that!
is that your retirement dream?
I feel sorry for you!

Myself and several friends developed health issues from the pollution, and my doctor told me to get out ASAP!
simply not worth it.
too many places to retire.
Don’t understand the draw of Chang nobyl!????????♂️????????♂️????

My sister recently visited northern Thailand. She said it was terrible, never to return because of the pollution. She went to the east coast of Vietnam, hue, danang Hoi an , air quality index was 13. Having a great time!

What about the young men from poor backgrounds who have no option but stay in Russia ?
They have not chosen their political leaders.
Fact is a large percentage of Russian people are for the war!
just remember, Putin ain’t shootin!
I wish nothing but horrendous suffering to every Russian man woman and child!

Why don't they simply say west of the Chao Praya?
Was at Sala Deng this morning and mid day air quality was normal to me.
That’s because you are so used to pollution, hazardous or dangerous air quality levels seem normal!
don’t kid yourself!????????????????♂️

The bright lights of Asia wore of pretty quickly. I had free health care thru work, but realized I was in anything but a step backwards, back to Canada and live the snow bird dream, so many nice places to visit.
but nothing compares to waking up and breathing clean air, drinking clean tap water. Walking down a sidewalk that’s not broken, no hanging wires, no wild packs of feral dogs laying around, clean food and restaurants inspected by the health department, being able to cross the street and cars actually stop.
going fishing, hunting in my backyard! Didn’t realize how good I had it till I landed back home!
true paradise!

I don;t want to excuse the problem of PM2.5 in Chiang Mai, which is an absolute shame.
But you should not take literally what click-hungry reporters feed you.
117 / 23 = 5. But 5 is the WHO recommended guideline for annual mean, while on a daily basis it is 15. We still exceed that by a lot, I know, but not by 23 times.
And, CM air is relatively ok in PM2.5 terms for most of the year outside the critical 2 months.
But again, yes, at this time of the year better stay away from CM.
2 months a year, maybe 10 years ago, not recently since I left, it’s a polluted <deleted> hole

Yes, of course I can imagine that! It might be strange to you, but there are tens of thousands of foreign or mixed Thai/foreign families living in Thailand! Where do you suggest they go if their jobs, families are here?
Perhaps to a country destination where their children can grow up without being subjected to deadly air quality?
but perhaps some peoples children aren’t that important?
lots of jobs around the world for professionals!thete had never been a time for such demand!
Unless we backed ourselves into a corner with no plan b?
nasty situation to be in, now isn’t it Brew?

In the " Why has Thailand attracted more foreign tourists than Vietnam" thread, some posters claimed the air pollution is so much better than VN.
Below is the real time air quality around the world:
Air Pollution in World: Real-time Air Quality Index Visual Map (aqicn.org)
I have spent much time on the eastern side of Vietnam, the air is by far some of the cleanest in SEA.

It’s only 23 times higher than the WHO guidelines? That’s not so bad the expats say. Just don’t go outdoors, breathe beside your air purifiers, wear a mask, I’m so happy I retired here????????????????♂️????????♂️????????????
