  1. Of course. Do some research on Bastille Day and the annual D-Day celebration France puts on. I've had several friends travel to France around the same time each year and they are met with so much love from the French people for saving them (even tho they weren't actually involved in that war). Without American involvement the French would be speaking German as a first language.
  2. I forgot one more. Reagan challenged Gorbachev to tear down the wall dividing Germany and the communists supported by Russia in the East. Shortly thereafter the wall fell at the hands of the German people. I remember seeing it on TV when they cut thru the wall and dropped it to the ground.
  3. Again, you have to educate yourself. The US is moving forward on electric cars and the demand is robust.
  4. Well, you don't just starting wars to make a point. The interesting part was that in WW1 the US and Russia teamed up to defeat the Nazi's. In WW2 China aligned with the US to help defeat Japan. My how things have changed. Things went 180 degrees in both situations now.
  5. Can't hold their hands forever. At some point they have to fight for themselves.
  6. Why stop at 50 - 60 years? Let's go back 100. In WW1 the US took a big part in eliminating Nazi Germany from the face of the earth and saved most of Europe from speaking German today. After that in WW2 the US was attacked by Japan with the same desires as China has now. To control the South Pacific. Even after their sneak (and unprovoked) attack wiped out most of the US Pacific fleet, Japan was surrendering with their tails between their legs soon afterwards and now are strong allies of the US as they learned their lesson. How about 1963 when Russian tried to move missiles into Cuba and the US set up a blockade potentially starting WW3. THat thankfully never happened. The Russies backed down. Need any more help with the history books?
  7. That's quite possibly correct. It's been proven that the US has more oil reserves than nearly anyone. What happens when it all dries up in the Middle East and the US corners the market. OOPS!!!
  8. "do what all other countries do.... rely on the US".... you can read the comment but not understand it's meaning. ALL countries need protection, or will, from China. They are on a mission to rule the world beginning with claiming the South China Sea and everything else in the area as their own private property. That's part of the reason Philippines is inviting the US to reopen their bases in the country that they had for so long. The US could tell them to deal with it themselves but the US is better than that. "which countries, besides the US are not "inept" and able to sustain a war with China on their own?"... there are none. Thus my point.
  9. Thanks folks. This is all good information. Can you tell me what you think the 3 best things and the 3 worst things are in PI? I was thinking about making it an annual vacation spot for a month every winter. Is that worth considering or is it so bad that I'd not enjoy myself?
  10. "came away with $$$ billions worth of USA military equipment"... no they didn't. All the equipment was disabled or destroyed before they left. Don't believe a lot of the nonsense you read. "The Americans ran - did not walk - out of Vietnam"... no, actually they flew out. Too far to walk home. "now the USA cannot even defend its own border with Mexico".... actually they can, and do, when Republicans are in charge. When the weak socialist Democrats are running things, they leave the borders like a revolving door and don't care.
  11. Don't get a dog as suggested. It'll bark all night and <deleted> of the neighbors( just think about if the neighbors got a dog that barked all night and how you'd like it). Lights are usually enough to deter criminals. Just get better at putting/hiding valuables in an out-of-the-way place where no one would look. Keep the cash secured away in a hard-to-find place. 10,000 isn't all that much. Just consider it a lesson learned.
  12. Yes! And most of the time their interest is in helping the oppressed and abused people from the abusing regimes that rule in their own interests and not those of the people.
  13. Didn't "lose" to any of them. BTW, Irak is not a country. Educate yourself on spelling things.
  14. My statement still stands and it's accurate..... "Actually go out, explore, meet real people face to face and have conversations".
  15. Well, I guess people will need to start doing what civilization has done for centuries before the internet. Actually go out, explore, meet real people face to face and have conversations. It'll be quite an adjustment for the young folks but leads to a more enriching life.
  16. In this case the disease free "pops" were far better than the money. She was great in bed.
  17. Nearly each and every day I'm more and more amazed at the idiocy and ineptitude of the RTP. Are they really deserving of the title of Royal?
  18. Yet another thing to consider for people who might want to think about a cheap Asian country to retire to. They can restrict the medications you need to survive for no obvious reason just like so many of the other nonsensical decisions that are made by the IIC (Idiots In Charge).
  19. No, they didn't. They held their own but thousands of their lives were lost. How did Russia do against them a number of years ago? Russia left with a wimper. How is Russia doing against "weak and undermanned" Ukraine? They are losing. How is China doing against any strong country? Oh, wait, they never had the balls to challenge a strong country. They just like to bully the weak countries of Southeast Asia that have no way to stand up for themselves. That's why Philippines is inviting the US back to rebuild military bases there.
  20. Since they are too inept to protect their own country from China and others, do what all other countries do.... rely on the US.
  21. I wonder how many of these new cases can be attributed to infected Chinese flooding the country.
  22. "but wouldn't stolen credit cards be cancelled by the owners immediately?".... They would if they knew they were missing. How often does a person check to see if their cc's are still where they left them? Most would assume they haven't been touched. "and how exactly did they steal them? ".... not sure why that's even relevant.
  23. Well, since the Thai military is inept and couldn't protect the country from an attack from a flock of wild geese it makes sense they now have a vicious Pitbull to lead the charge against any attack by the Chinese. Then they have a scapegoat/scapedog to blame their failure on.
  24. Those folks on the beach aren't wearing just masks but rather gas masks so they don't have to smell the stinky infected Chinese that are also on the beach.
  25. "the pollution has no present effect on me whatsoever"....... sounds like something you'd hear a smoker say about cigarettes just before getting a lung cancer diagnosis. BTW, the air quality has always been bad there. Much longer than 10 years. You were just too enamored by everything else around you that you hadn't noticed.
