  1. A whole lot of word salad. A tiny minority of monks might break their vows and misbehave, and they are defrocked when caught. For you to hold them all in contempt is sheer nonsense, and totally insulting to Thai culture. Next you'll be complainig that Thais don't like you. Be careful criticising teh national religion, in case it (hopefully) gets you chucked out of the country., back to the soulless dump you came from. Good riddance to people like you.
  2. No, it doesn't, unless you're using a tiny minority to slur an entire group of worthy religious men who uphold decency. It's a bit like saying that all people are thieves and murderers just because a tiny fraction of one percent are. A fallacious and ridiculous positiion ever there was one.
  3. "All the other Thais across Thailand" (just because you saw people buying booze in a local shop) is a ridiculous thing to say, and even implies that you are Thai yourself. Why come and live in a culture defined by its religion, if you despise it so much and openly disrespect it? What drove you here in the first place? Charming culture, or prostitutes?
  4. "Most" is a tricky word. I suppose it depends who you hang out with 🙂
  5. Weed is about to get banned permanently. As for sugar, I didn't realise that Buddhism forbids it.
  6. Most Thais abstain from alcohol on religious days as a sign of respect, which is a virtue that you clearly lack.
  7. Bedroom behaviour really is off topic, when real reasons like erosion of competitiveness, lack of R&D, factory closures, etc, etc, are far more pertinent.
  8. Economies do expand and contract in cycles. Other than defaulting en masses, which would wreck the financial system, there's no other option than to buy time. The 1997 crash was worse, but Thailand got over that.
  9. That's true. Most of the whole world is up to it's armpits in debt. People who blame this or that Thai government have too narrow a focus.
  10. Gay marriage? In what way will things people do in their bedrooms help the economy? Progressive politics isn't helping other countries in the world, so why would Thailand benefit?
  11. 100,000, all at the same time? That's going to cause even more damage to businesses.
  12. I don't think the religious folk say anything. Refraining from alcohol is just a sign of respect, in a country where religion is still an important part of life.
  13. It's common knowledge that Thai prisons are tough, but that didn't stop him from doing things that caused him to end up in one.
  14. Anything that's imported in small quantities is going to be expensive because of higher shipping and distribution costs. It's not rocket science.
  15. Interesting... I got my citizenship in 2007, so you'd think they'd have updated it by now. I wonder how on earth I'd get it fixed? Any other naturalised here also having the same problem?
  16. When I check my ID on that NHSO website, I get the following - it lists my rights as: ข้อมูลสิทธิ สิทธิที่เข้ารับบริการ : บุคคลต่างด้าว It lists me as a permanent resident (dang dao), rather than a citizen. Do other naturalised Thai get this?
  17. You care about it or you wouldn't have bothered replying. So not zero then. And why do you pump yourself up to speak for all people anyway. You don't.
  18. Let's hold fried chicken celebrations for a whole month, in June, instead of this Pride (no need for pride about what you do in your bedroom, no need for shame either, please just act normally) rubbish.
  19. The sooner this fixation on a miniscule minority wears off, the better.
  20. Why do expats think that they're solely responsible for keeping the Thai economy afloat, when they're such a miniscule minority? Delusions of grandeur.
  21. If you dig around on Google for the Thai Nationality Act, you'll find a Thai language version. I read through once, and it's actually rather vague and no more helpful than the translation. There are, for example, no definitions on what "using your old nationality" means. Better play safe and not use it at all. For those naturalised Thais who live abroad, there's also the worrying clause that naturalised Thai nationality can be revoked if a total of 5 years are spent overseas. The clause makes mention that the five years is a accumulation of all tge overseas time, rather than a single 5 year stretch. There's no evidence of this being enforced, so far.
  22. Like others here, I've done dozens of trips in and out with no hassles. I do make a point of only using my Thai nationality in Thailand, and only using my Thai passport at the border. All my bank accounts and everything else I changed to my Thai ID.
  23. Only to those who adhere to the atheist faith. Religion brings joy to millions. Why knock it, and why go to a religious country like Thailand when your atheist home country beckons? Are you a masochist?
