The Unheeded Warnings: How Mass Immigration Is Reshaping Europe
Foxx replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The author of the original Telegraph piece was Douglas Murray who was educated at Eton and Magdalen College, Oxford. He was the founder of the right wing Centre for Social Cohesion, which later became part of the Henry Jackson Society. He's a self-described neo-conservative. Clearly a man of the people with a balanced perspective. We should be hanging on his every word. The original article is at https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/12/23/mass-immigration-is-killing-europe-and-the-political-class/ (not paywalled). (For some reason this site is stripping away the link when I save the page. Just copy and paste the link text.) -
A rat has died inside the sitting room ceiling. There's no access (apart from through some small light fittings). Is there anything I can do to mask the ammonia stench?

Phuket to Host Thailand's First Legal Same-Sex Weddings in January
Foxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
And yet there won't be any British people getting married because the Embassy is refusing to issue the necessary paperwork. Phuket may be dedicated to equality and diversity, but the British Embassy most certainly is not. -
Indian passengers turn Thai AirAsia plane into party zone - video

That pretty much sums it up. This sort of behaviour is OK on a train or bus in India, so why not in the air?- 184 replies

Gordon Ramsay, TANACHIRA Group opens flagship Bread Street Kitchen & Bar
Foxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
No. Idiot sandwich refers to a late night TV comedy sketch And it's not just a scoop of ice cream. You get a chocolate fondant with it. And the salad includes pancetta, parmesan and anchovies - expensive imported ingredients. I won't pretend it's the best value meal in Thailand, but I don't think the price is unreasonable, assuming the quality and service are there. -

I presume the menu and prices will be similar to the existing branch in Bangkok. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=122150772428156171&set=p.122150772428156171 There's also a weekday lunchtime special menu https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=122150772626156171&set=p.122150772626156171 -

I think you'll find that most garlic in Thailand comes from China. The local business has all but been wiped out thanks to cheaper Chinese garlic. There are a number of Chinese suppliers on the web. Search for "กระเทียมแดง" (with quotes). Here's one to get you started: https://th.pandagarlic.com/normal-white-garlic/fresh-organic-red-garlic.html They're in Henan Province, China.

An organisation employing terrorists and packed with fanatical Islamists who celebrated the October 7th massacres issues a press report. Only the most naïve would take it seriously.

Do not eat them! The restaurant relies on their being left behind so they can be put in the next batch of soup they make.

Thailand Birth Rate Nosedives: 81% Drop Surpasses Japan
Foxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Some real statistics and a link to the original report would be nice. "an alarming 81% decrease" might mean that Thai women were having 100 children per year each, but are now only having 19.- 64 replies

Sky TV Host Condemns Greta Thunberg "F*ck Germany and f*ck Israel,”

I thought Thunberg had autism - not Tourette's. -
There's a certain frustration for having had to wait for so many years for Thailand finally to legalise marriage, and the hope and expectation that we could finally do so in late January - a hope dashed by the British Embassy.
-
22 January is just to apply for the affirmation (and that date is not guaranteed - it could be later). There are a number of steps after that, including getting it translated and getting it legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It's been a long time waiting to get the right to get married in Thailand, and the British Embassy is making us wait even longer, seemingly pointlessly.
-
After a couple of surprisingly quick responses from the Embassy, it appears that one can apply for affirmation from January 22nd. Still, this is a pretty piss-poor approach. Given that the Ambassador (Mark Gooding) is gay and married, I'd have expected something a little more proactive. (And he's not the first gay Ambassador to Thailand.) The British Embassy in Bangkok has denied gay British men and women the right to get married for years, even though the Embassy is British sovereign territory, and not subject to Thai law. And now they are just rubbing salt in the wound by delaying our right to have our relationships respected. Some homophobic bigots there? Perhaps. Just wondering, are other countries' embassies being more reasonable and issuing the required affirmation?
-
Has anybody applied for this in anticipation of gay marriage on January 22nd? The embassy website states "The British embassy will assist British people in obtaining the necessary documentation for a same sex marriage in Thailand once the law enters into force and the Ministry of Interior outlines the procedures" which suggests to me that they will only do the affirmation thing on or some time after January 22nd, which seems nuts to me. (I have messaged them, but it's always hit and miss as to whether they reply.)
