  1. Metalex is becoming more and more industrial it seems, very little to do with small work shops, mostly industrial sized machines. Not sure if people think Intermach might be more suitable.
  2. Hi I'm about to go for my marriage visa extension again, this will be my 4th time, last time I went I was under the impression some people had appointments via online booking system. I would previously just rock up and get a ticket and queue, I can't seem to find the online booking system currently, does it actually exist?
  3. Oddly enough Thailand isn't that bad I guess in the grand scheme of things, but I'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad if that number is high based on the below table. My intial thought would be a lower % would be better, but some wealthy countries seem to have high %
  4. I recently had a taxi driver cuss us out because my wife is Thai and he thought she was chinese, since chinese tip better he says, and taking Thai's is a waste of his time, wouldn't stop being annoying and complaining how we weren't going to tip big. My wife said, well I wanted to get grab originally, and he said good next time get grab and don't bother him. Also complained how we used meter since he could charge more for foreigners
  5. Debt is a really big and growing problem in Thailand. I know loads of people who just max out their cards like no tomorrow or borrow like crazy without any plans of repaying, or get into installments without much whim. Almost all the local Thai's I know have bad debt (i.e letters chasing them and their salary being court mandated to pay off loans) already. And yet they still walk around with some iphone or other and with a new motorbike/car. Financial literacy is 0 and if the financial system doesn't curb its lending policies then Thailand's going to have its own financial crisis sooner or later.
  6. They also use the flowmeter types here, and they also go up to 300bar (1bar = 1.01972 kg/cm3)
  7. Absolute classic, I'm assuming this is Global house from the way he's written it, actually to be honest, my expierence has been quite good with Global house for some DIY stuff, depends what you're getting. They have service centres in some branches which can be handy. As with all hardware stores in Thailand, you kinda really need a Thai speaker with you to get anything you actually want. And well done for interpreting OP's post XD it was giving me a headache trying to read it.
  8. @jvs yea that's pretty damn fake, also Dewalt and Bosch won't make it, the fact they used their brand should be red flags enough, kinda want to see someone buy one to review though, it'd be hilarious if they just got a water gun or something
  9. What do you mean cheap? A real proper fibre laser welding machine will set you back 200,000 THB minimum (1500W), anything less than that is likely not a real laser welding machine. I've had a few goes and they're great, but usually used for thinner jobs, laser will likely replace smaller TIG jobs, but MIG will still have it's place for welding thicker materials, anything thicker than 3mm will need MIG/TIG/MMA. The 1450 baht pricing is only for the gun of the laser, it isn't actually the laser, it's like buying the MIG gun but not the machine. @sometimewoodworker is correct you need to add up all the other parts too. Real laser welding isn't going to be for household use anytime within the next 3 years, but maybe 7-10 years time we might see prices drop below 100,000 THB, but don't hold your breath. MIG has only just started to come down in price for DIY use I would argue, TIG (proper TIG not the <deleted>ty lift-TIG) is still expensive both in terms of machines and consumables/fillers.
  10. Udon one: https://goo.gl/maps/n1RHzFzP1pP3jvH57 Khon Kaen https://goo.gl/maps/h362brJFyVkcVwGB8
  11. @sometimewoodworker Ok it was starting to bug me that no one seemed to have an answer for you so I spoke with some people to find out, and to be honest it was actually quite hard to find, but here's what I got: บริษัท อุตสาหกรรมก๊าซขาวสะอาด จ ากดั ที่อย5ู่ 2 หมู่6ถนนอุดร-เลย ต ำบลนำดี อ ำเภอเมืองอุดรธำนี จังหวัดอุดรธำนี 41000 โทรศัพท์0-4220-1399 Apparently there aren't many CO2 refilling places in Ubon There's a good one in Khon Kaen otherwise: ขอนแก่นอ๊อกซิเจน อ.เมือง จ.ขอนแก่น
  12. yea, I agree, MIG is much more usable than stick when you're not welding regularly. I guess the issue for you and finding gas refillers is that you're in quite a remote area? Sorry I'm not that familiar with your area, but I'm guessing even if you found one, it might be quite a trek for you each time, do you have a large enough vehcile to transport the tanks too? also for your workshop, if you're welding more regularly, you're not going to want one those cheap ones from lazada, since they all just explode after a few months of using since they have like a <deleted>ty duty cycle and people end up always over pushing the machines.
  13. I'm surprised it wasn't a BYD, I heard they were quite prone to burning up
  14. have you tried "gasless" MIG welding? I mean obviously it depends what you're welding but the flux-core gasless wires have come a long way these days.
  15. Yea that's true, I guess the people in Udon probably know the landscape better. But Kovet have distrubutors and stores all over Thailand inlcuding the big stores like Homehub, Megahome, Globalhouse, so wouldn't surprise me if they had something in Issan area.
  16. Hi I was just wondering if there were an US/EU lead companies in the construction business in Thailand? Like maybe international construction companies that have some resembalnce of US/EU construction standards and people to oversee projects? Most asian/Thai developers in Thailand make such poorly consturcted buildings, that if possible, I'd avoid them all, but also want to know if there are any developers that are from US/EU that might actually provide some good build quality properties.
  17. where are you based? Again Kovet have them avaliable https://www.kovet.com/en/product-page/welding-cutting-equipments/oxygen-fuel-cylinders/carbon-dioxide-gas-cylinder.html
  18. the hormone therapy is a treatment for breast cancer, it depends on the breast cancer subtype. Some are affected by oestrogen. It's standard practice around to world to provide hormone therapy in cases where it's required (you find out after tumour markers are done on the excised tumour).
  19. Exactly, construction standards here are so far behind the UK and US
  20. How's the build quality of the buildings? Did it feel flimsy? or solidly built? Any issues with rain damage or sinkage?
  21. Hey, so I'm planning on getting a Moo-baan Budget is 50-100M THB. My issue is having a look at Moo Baans around Bangkok, the quality is really sub par compared to US/UK houses. The ones I've looked at are supposed to be near the top end, but they've all been underwhelming and not worth the money IMO. Such lazy design, copy and pasting from each other most of them, actually embarassing for the developers I think, it really tells they don't give a <deleted> and have no eye for quality and design. Sansiri 3/10 - Narasiri 3/10 , Bugaan 4/10 - so bad, like embarrasingly so, sansiri are really riding the coattails of the brand, and delivery what I consider a pile of crap and marking up extortionatey IMO L&H - NANTAWAN 3/10, poor (old) design, poor quality. Lack of facilities. L&H- Vive 8/10, modern design, decent build quality, lack of facilities, very reasonably priced in comparison to all the other top ranges. Penton Ari Suttisan 5/10 - Not worth the money, decent design, poor build quality. Malton Gates 1/10 - One of the worst developments I've seen, such poor quality vs money asked for, awfully dated designs, poor internal space design (using what I call the basic moo baan template), whoever is buying this is nuts. Providence Lane 6/10 - Good design, decent quality, but size is an issue, wish they had bigger units. Park Heritage 6/10 - Good design, and decent quality again, good facilities (love the golf sim), but location down a tiny soi isn't quite what people paying close to 100M are looking for. Arna Rama 9 4/10 - very meh, quality isn't good, design is meh. Marq Exquiste 7/10 - decent design lay out, quality was acceptable, but clubhouse and facilities too small, I was actually quite keen on it, but wife veto'd it due to drive way size. What is the obsession with Moo Baans and having high ceilings with a half floor? All I see is a waste of space and extra work for the airconditioning units to cool the place. I actually know someone who worked on a few resorts in Thailand brought in to manage the construction projects and he told me these days everyone is just cheaping out which is so sad. Do you guys have any recommendations for developments or developers in Bangkok? I'm thinking the The Collection Riverfront by Altitude potentially, but they haven't really started marketing for it, and I've never seen their other development projects, if anyone has anything to say about them let me know.
  22. Houses and properties built in Thailand generally are pretty poor compared to western standards. It blows my mind how some of the even most expensive can be so bad, some of them worth 100,000,000 + houses their designs and quality are just so poor. Developers in Thailand are just embarassing.
  23. Holy <deleted> 200THB per tray, that's mental. I guess they're charging that due to their location I used to pay only 40THB per tray at RAMA 3 and Pines and they've been steadily increasing over the last 4 years to now 80THB which I already think is extortionate, but they're both always packed full with people and queues for ages, so I'm not surprised prices are going up. The ol demand and supply I guess. Rama 3 range is even adding a queue skip option if you pay extra and pre pay on their booking system via line. I was thinking they were really milking their customers. There's also Topgolf these days in Bangna, that's always good fun. They've got a special promo of 350THB for 1 hour unlimited balls for single person per bay, or 550THB per bay if you have more people. (Guess they're really struggling, cos their full price is also insane given their location).
