  1. You can pay in Baht, no need for US dollars. Make sure you bring Thai baht change for any bus fares.
  2. Why did you just "visit" for 10 years, why did you not live together? And how long were these visits? How do things seem different now? Refusing to change the name, to tell friends she is married and to hang up the photo are not good signs. How would she "prove" she loves you though?
  3. Yes, as a lawyer Harris is undoubtedly intelligent, however, she does not come across that way, the way say Obama came across as very bright the first time you see him. Harris is a poor orator by comparison and lacks charisma. She seems permanently insecure and nervous and high strung. What you say about Trump is only partially true, yes he had a head start with his monied background but he did multiply the money many times over. He is not senile but also highly intelligent. If people want to big up Harris, because she was DA and Senator, ok, but Trump was President of the United States, the highest office in the land. Thiel freaks me out alltogehter, I don't know what he is about. I read Trump asked him for money and he refused. That Thiel chided the founder of LinkedIN for bankrolling law suits against Trump saying he was just making a martyr of Trump. I am not so sure Thiel supports Trump. As for younger Americans enthusing over Kamala, I don't think they are, the're just following the direction given by Charlie XCX, Beyonce and Swift, and it was always clear these people would vote Democrat anyway. But a good 42 per cent of Americans are over the age of 45, this demographic will decide the election, not 18 year olds. At this point it would not be accurate to say that Harris will win, Trump is floundering, and so on, that is just wishful thinking I would suggest.
  4. He is entertaining though, which is what counts in US politics. Look at this thread, we're already tired of talking about Harris and focus on Trump. Same like the news, Trump always gets top billing. Why do you think that is? Whatever you think of his politics, you have to admit he is a genius at entertaining.
  5. It's persuasive because it's true. I don't buy this whole "cultural buzz" argument with Harris. We all knew cultural icons from Beyonce, Swift, de Niro, etc would endorse her, pop stars say she's "brat". What does that all mean, apart from democrats celebrating themselves? How does that win votes in Pennsylvania or Illinois? Meanwhile Vance and Trump continue to speak to raw emotion, nationalism. I would not put money on Harris.
  6. Harris is no Obama, and whether hers is a winning campaign, well, let's see. A bit early to say. Obama exuded brains and charisma in a way Harris does not. And her oratory skills are light years away from Obama, no silver tongue there. Even the cackle has a distinct bronze twang. Didn't the Democrats concede the Republican convention was slick and a success, I think that's what gave him a further edge in he polls against Biden. As for Vance, do you remember Dan Quayle? Vance seems a genius by comparison. I don't think many people would agree that Harris is a clear cut winner at this point.
  7. This would be a major issue with a Filipina, but not a Thai gf.
  8. He survived an assassination attempt. He forced his main opponent to resign winning a debate. But he "smells like a loser now"? How do you figure that? I know when it comes to politics truth is checked at the door, but genuinely curious.
  9. He has no filter and goes to extremes and beyond, that is hard to top in terms of entertainment value. Sometimes I think he knows and they know it's not true, but they love to just hear it for outrage value.
  10. I was also surprised she did so well at rallies, but even Biden hit the high notes before the big audiences sometimes. They have scripts, not so hard. Trump adlibs though and has them eating out of his hands. He's almost an entertainment phenomenon.
  11. She seems very nervous and insecure. That nervous laugh is a symptom of that.
  12. # Amen to that. Chiang Mai is blessed with a world class french baker at L'Opera and St Etoil and Supermarkets make an effort, but bread is a major issue.
  13. The Israelis drove the legal high trade from 2007 to 2012, mephedrone and all those other legal highs were all made by Israelis. And they could not be touched because the substances were new, until they changed the law. Genius really those guys. These two not so much.
  14. Yes, there are some different foods in the south, Massaman Curry is of course not Isan. But Som Tum, Grilled chicken (Gai Yang) Larb, fermented sausage (sai krok), Nam Tok, grilled pork neck, Pla Nin that grilled fish you see at fod stalls, it is not an exaggeration to say that the heart of Thai cuisine is Isan cuisine, ie Lao cuisine.
  15. It was already like this in the 1930s, then too it was the left FDR who wanted to go to war, and the right was isolationist.
  16. I have seen the 6 month period in many other places. If you go on the Thai E Visa website now and look up tourist visa, the multiple entry version is also limited to 6 months validity. Evidence appears to be that immiration officials do not know or enforce this 6 month rule with flight arrivals, but if they wanted to find a reason the 6 month period may be used.
  17. Ok, I just thought if the airline staff don't see either they may just find that odd.
  18. It is most likely for employees of a company where they get paid monthly salary and have a one year contract. If the company agrees to sponsor the employee and says he earns 4000 USD per month, and the contract is for one year, presumably that will be another way to satisfy the "financial evidence" requirement.
  19. Brilliant, thanks a lot
  20. I am not talking about a physical ticket but the PDF airlines send you.
  21. Yes, I was thinking maybe I'd just get a cheap Air Asia to KL for 1900 Baht.
  22. Thanks, and this 6 character code, if the agent checks it, the dummy ticket will have a working one?
  23. Dear Lord it is getting more complicated with every post..
  24. Do I HAVE to buy the ticket 2 days before the flight I need it for,or can I buy it 2 weeks befor as well?
  25. Wow...so they do check. Jesus Christus..I better find a very reputable dummy ticket vendor, lol
