  4. Dining in Chiang Mai is an adventure, and chef’s table experiences elevate it to a unique level. Imagine sitting close to a skilled chef as they craft dishes from fresh, local ingredients, turning the act of cooking into an art form. The mingling aromas of Thai herbs, sizzling proteins, and delicate sauces create an ambiance that’s immersive and unforgettable. Chef’s table venues in Chiang Mai showcase creativity and skill, blending traditional Northern Thai flavors with innovative techniques. These experiences connect diners to the heart of the city’s culinary culture, offering a front-row seat to bold flavors, stunning presentation, and memorable storytelling. https://cnxmag.com/chiang-mai-chefs-table-experiences/ Two
  5. Another influence in the world of Karsai is Mantak Chia based in Tao Garden in Doi Saket, near Chiang Mai. Mantak Chia is a well-known protagonist of Taoist health systems, including genital massage and sexual health that he structured into Healing Tao. Healing Tao has been very successful in promoting and commercializing the practice of sexual health all over the world. This is not to say Healing Tao is the inventor of it, as some people like to believe, rather it served as a major catalyst that integrated, structured and especially commercialized various practices. Chi Nei Tsang is an integral part of Healing Tao and of Karsai, that he named Karsai Nei Tsang. https://www.chiangmailocator.com/wiki-karsai-thai-genital-massage-in-chiang-mai-p45 One.
  6. A Thai woman stole 20,000 baht from me by stealth. How come I'm not in the news?
  7. Anyone bored in CM is tired of life. How anyone could be bored in CM is a mystery. The city has an endless offering of delights to discover.
  8. Israel is out of control. Video of children in Gaza who went to collect food being killed is everywhere today. Israel has to be punished for its actions.
  9. Nobody wins. You're born with nothing. And you go with nothing. There's no winning and no losing. Only love and affection of others can make it bearable. If you're just looking for profit and wins, you'll be very disappointed.
  10. Even better. The master baker is still in charge.
  11. Errr, I was in Monjam a few days ago. In Mae Kampong a week before that. And I live here. I'm not a tourist. In fact I was at the NBT TV station on the 12th, supporting my girl's quest to become the Thai Face Topmodel. I'm basically a local.
  12. My bad, that was the point of the guy you were quoting. So your point was not that the outskirts of CM are worth a visit? So what point were you making, pray tell?
  13. Not to mention the queues in front of Dishoom and how packed it is. It is fantastic mind you, foodwise. I got their recipe book in digital format. There's also another nice south Indian place in London, when it opened the critics made a fuss about it. Funny we have two here in Chiang Mai.
  14. It works both ways, if Bitcoin is sky high at the moment the amount of Baht you could get would be advantageous. Crypto can go down as well as up. Of course investors expect crypto to just go up, but that's not going to happen, it will also go down.
  15. It looks that way. Ah well. I will order some superb Indian food in honour of the Guardian's knowledgeable food critic to get over this painful episode. Did I mention that there are not one but TWO South Indian restaurants in Chiang Mai? That' s the creme de la creme. In London they make a big deal about Dosas. Here it's just another dinner.
  16. I just invited a super hot 23 year old from Khon Kaen to Chiang Mai, I met her via Bumble and was messaging her on Insta. She said "Too much dust". Wtf???
  17. I saw it but chose to ignore it. It's ludicrous to suggest Chiang Mai "bought" votes. India may well have operated that way. But the votes Chiang Mai got would have been from enchanted visitors who love Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai doesn't need to buy votes. it's the best city in the world.
  18. Not according to this Guardian food critic: Chiang Mai food paradise: 'The best I've ever eaten' I’ve lived in India all my life, eaten everywhere from Leh to Cochin, tasted extraordinary dishes by the humblest chaat-wala and the fanciest chef, but nowhere in my land, not in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad or Kolkata, have I eaten so well, so cheaply, so grandly and with so much joy as in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai. Even without the food, it’s a kind of paradise: close to the Myanmar border, modern yet resolutely traditional, spotlessly clean while never sterile; easily navigable but filled with a thousand hidden treasures, urban and chic (in part thanks to the large student population from the university) but surrounded by hills and jungle. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2016/feb/24/thai-street-food-chiang-mai-tour-thailand
  19. Absolutely right, one of the big advantages of Chiang Mai is the endless option for day trips to places close by. The Mon Jam flower experience, the charming Mae Kampong and much else besides. You can basically never get tired of Chiang Mai. Always new things to discover. The world's largest revolving sushi restaurant company from Japan just opened a branch in Chiang Mai.
  20. It's not a problem at all. Air quality is superb for most of the year. Besides, most cities in Asia have air quality issues. It's obviously about the quality offerings a city can provide .And here clearly Chiang Mai has the advantage over other cities.
  21. Very true. It goes without saying that a cosmopolitan city has to be able to offer a variety of international staples, and Baguette is so high on the list that even the Japanese and Chinese try to copy it, albeit not alltogether successfully. Fortunately in Chiang Mai we get the real deal from a real French baker. I've not seen a good bakery in Singapore, but then I don't spend much time there due to the oppressive heat. Another advantage of being in Chiang Mai.
  22. A city without good baguette is not worth a damn. This is where Chiang Mai really leaves them all in the shade, due to the fortunate coincidence of one of France's greatest bakers having opened L'Opera bakery in Chiang Mai. The baguette produced there is the best in Asia, and possibly the best in the world, certainly better than anything you get in France. Thankfully the national treasure that is this French baker has taught staff, and even though he now sold L'Opera the sale with the same staff retained ensures continuity. Enjoy your Hawaiian bread in Singapore.
  23. I don't think it's that easy in Singapore. To get a number plate you have to enter a lottery, it's an insane system and there's no guarantee you'll be allowed to drive a car, even if you pay the insane prices for the privelege. The Zoo and night safari are good, but not as good as the zoo and night safari in Chiang Mai. And the aquarium in Singapore is a massive let down. Chiang Mai has just refurbished its own aquarium. Where? Clearly you're not very familiar with Chiang Mai. Themed cafes are massive thing here, due to the cheap availability of land, large and elaborately themed cafes, such as the Nekoemon cafe abound here. It's an experience and a delight. Chiang Mai is more cosmopolitan than Singapore, which is largely made up of Indians, Chinese and Malay. In Chiang Mai however, you get Burmese, Yunannese, Koreans, French, there's everyone. Granted there's an expat community in Singapore, but they're all just employees, in Chiang Mai, they're residents who start up businesses like restaurants. It's a different quality of cosmopolitan in Chiang Mai. Singapore is corporate, Chiang Mai is down to earth.
  24. Singapore has some passable malls and the food is very good, like in Chiang Mai. However in Chiang Mai there is a more cosmopolitan offering due to the breadth of foreigners who've chosen Chiang Mai as a second home. You certainly won't get baguette as good as in Chiang Mai in Singapore. Then of course you can't drive in Singapore, you're forced to use taxis or public transport. It's far hotter than Thailand.. There are no mountains close to Singapore. No wealth of themed cafes. No elephant sanctuaries. No charming festivals. Singapore is okay for a short visit. But to live, Chiang Mai wins hands down. Not just because of the exorbitant prices in Singapore.
