Vance calls out Harris
He survived an assassination attempt. He forced his main opponent to resign winning a debate. But he "smells like a loser now"? How do you figure that? I know when it comes to politics truth is checked at the door, but genuinely curious.

Vance calls out Harris
He has no filter and goes to extremes and beyond, that is hard to top in terms of entertainment value. Sometimes I think he knows and they know it's not true, but they love to just hear it for outrage value.

Vance calls out Harris
I was also surprised she did so well at rallies, but even Biden hit the high notes before the big audiences sometimes. They have scripts, not so hard. Trump adlibs though and has them eating out of his hands. He's almost an entertainment phenomenon.

Vance calls out Harris
She seems very nervous and insecure. That nervous laugh is a symptom of that.

Top 10 troubles you will find during retirement in Thailand
# Amen to that. Chiang Mai is blessed with a world class french baker at L'Opera and St Etoil and Supermarkets make an effort, but bread is a major issue.

What's the Most Surprising Thing You've Learned About Living in Thailand?
Yes, there are some different foods in the south, Massaman Curry is of course not Isan. But Som Tum, Grilled chicken (Gai Yang) Larb, fermented sausage (sai krok), Nam Tok, grilled pork neck, Pla Nin that grilled fish you see at fod stalls, it is not an exaggeration to say that the heart of Thai cuisine is Isan cuisine, ie Lao cuisine.

I'm confused, USA is now a communist country?
It was already like this in the 1930s, then too it was the left FDR who wanted to go to war, and the right was isolationist.

Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
I have seen the 6 month period in many other places. If you go on the Thai E Visa website now and look up tourist visa, the multiple entry version is also limited to 6 months validity. Evidence appears to be that immiration officials do not know or enforce this 6 month rule with flight arrivals, but if they wanted to find a reason the 6 month period may be used.

DTV issued
It is most likely for employees of a company where they get paid monthly salary and have a one year contract. If the company agrees to sponsor the employee and says he earns 4000 USD per month, and the contract is for one year, presumably that will be another way to satisfy the "financial evidence" requirement.

Using an overseas Debit Card to minimise paying tax for those of us staying over 180 days
Looking at it strictly from a legal perspective, if you stay over 180 days and you transferred the money to Thailand it would apply. Now of course you can then argue that DTA applies, you'd have to prove it. Lying to them is generally a bad idea, as they have all the systems and manpower to check what you say is true, so unless you can lie and the evidence would support your lie, teling the truth is safer.

No, it does apply, the Thai authorities can audit you and you would have to prove that your income derives from sources covered in the DTA. I would not want to be in that position.

In theory credit card payments can be traced, but I would agree that the likelihood of someone doing that in Thailand is slim to none.

Well, the DTA doesn't really "protect" you, it just means you're taxed in your home country, where tax is most likely considerably higher than in Thailand.

Philippines any good?
I know, one TF girl stole 35000 Baht in cash from me. Happens here too, but much less I think. In Phil I know of whole families that exist on the girl being a serial dater, that's how they pay their electcity bills and food bills. What about that family that sold their daughters for online sex because they needed the money so badly? I never heard anything like that in Thailand.

What are the best ways to meet other expats?
Facebook has a lot of groups, the entertainment pages are full of bars for expats that hold PS4 tournaments or dancing events or other stuff. The Digital Nomand groups are also full of people desperate to meet others. Failing that you could have children and arrange playdates with other parents, always a winner.
