  1. I recently received a severe warning about late reporting even though two weeks prior to my 90 day reporting day i was in the same office getting a proof of address form for use with new passport application and paying 300 Bt for that service. The guy said you must report to me and not just be in the the office using another service even if it for address confirmation- so now you know

  2. My advice - unless you are seriously unwell use the Internet and self diagnose and buy drugs from local pharmacist

The hospital staff - nurses, doctors even admin staff are all trying to steal your money and in most cases their diagnosis is not accurate or appropriate

These people exploit your anxiety and fear for their own financial reward

I have refused to pay in the past and given half the drugs back and now I take prescription to local pharmacy and save as much as 50% - hospital prices are extortionate

Anxiety/fear - use the many health forums on the Internet to help you realize you are not alone

  3. Local schools employ Russians,Ukranians, folk from Cameroon and Filipinos to teach Thais English

Ask yourselves Why and then answer and you understand how important learning English is here in Thailand.

Also parents pay alot more for mini English programme because teachers are native speakers - Yes native speakers from Moscow and Kiev

Spot the deliberate mistake - oh no it is c*********

  4. Child development is directly related to parental involvement in child care and this doesn't just mean physical care - food, shelter it also means intellectual stimulation through play and shared activities

Most of my Prathom students don't know how to play and their parents don't recognise the importance of participating in their children's learning experience

Why - well they never received any stimulation from their own parents - cycles repeated

  5. Just a quick point about Thais not needing to use English

I remember having to learn many subjects to pass exams to progress to Sixth form, then University and I haven't used much of the knowledge acquired since. However it equipped me with the ability to acquire knowledge for my betterment. Hence teaching here in a foreign country.

Learning is a process of being able to acquire skills and use information beneficial for entering the work force and showing self-discipline and task completion. OK Thais may not use English directly day to day but have to show they are capable of task completion and skill acquisition to benefit the country.

My view is that qualified native teachers and more accountability by management (read no corruption) would have a considerable impact on results in English acquisition,
