  1. That's exactly what I got. However, this morning I checked the "International Certificate" button on the app, and there was the QR code - so I suggest you have only a day or two to wait and it will be there. The QR appears to be the same as that on the emailed notice.
  2. It looks as though you already did in another thread in the Home Country Forum
  3. From my "Birds of Thailand" I would agree. There is an illustration of a juvenile, which has a shorter tail and slightly duller colours than the adult.
  4. - or badly advised by the same agent who allegedly sat on his passport application for several weeks
  5. They might, who knows? But if you're applying for a UK passport at VFS in Bangkok, you have to submit a colour photocopy of all pages and they give the passport back to you, so the problem only arises if you apply through an agent who keeps your passport until the new one arrives. They shouldn't do this, and anyone who uses an agent should insist on having their passport back after the agent has been to Bangkok to submit the application. In the OP's case one can not avoid the suspicion that the agent has been playing silly buggers.
  6. The UK used to add on up to 9 unexpired months to the new passport, but stopped that because the EU will not recognise passports that have more than 10 years validity. Apart from that, I'm not sure if there is any maximum. Frequent travellers may fill up their passports well before the expiry date.
  7. Ah, yes, thanks, I forgot to check on there, I was just working off the email. My status is now shown on there as "finished", so perhaps I have to wait 3 days from today before I get a working QR code.
  8. When you apply at VFS, you have to submit a full copy of all the pages of your passport, which is returned to you, and you hand it in to have a corner cut off when you go to collect the new passport. Your passport has not been sent to the UK, it's in the hands of the agent. You should ask him to confirm that, also ask for proof of when he submitted the application to VFS. It's hard to understand how someone could have sat on the application for two months before it being sent to UK. The reason for the convoluted system which requires two trips to be made to Bangkok is the UK's slavish and literal interpretation of the Thai law which requires a foreigner to be in possession of their passport at all times. The agent system proves what a mockery that is.
  9. I'm not sure if the above has worked properly for me. I completed the booking process before the end of the year and got the "booking successful" message, then - nothing, until this morning I got an email with this PDF attachment. So I have got an "International Certificate" saved to my phone, tablet and PC and a paper copy, but if I scan the QR code with my phone I just get "Invalid Certificate". So if I'm ever seeking entry somewhere where a QR scan is required I'm stuffed. Or am I missing something? Vac cert (amended).pdf
  10. "Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The expected change regarding the use of Visa credit cards on Amazon.co.uk will no longer take place on January 19. We are working closely with Visa on a potential solution that will enable customers to continue using their Visa credit cards on Amazon.co.uk.  Should we make any changes related to Visa credit cards, we will give you advance notice. Until then, you can continue to use Visa credit cards, debit cards, Mastercard, American Express, and Eurocard as you do today. Thank you for being an Amazon customer."
  11. I bet you get an EMS delivery, precisely because of what you say, it can be tracked. But normal mail is hopeless. We've had no deliveries (Banchang, Rayong) for at least 5 months. Both my UK bank debit and credit cards needed replacing, neither arrived here. We went several times up to the Post Office, where they pretended to look for any mail and came back "mai mee". Only at great expense and delay did I manage to get them sent by my son via DHL, inside books. Our mail deliveries weren't too bad up to two years ago, but Covid seems to have become a reason for the collapse of any regular service, and I'm afraid I can't ignore the possibility of dishonesty at some stage in the chain, whether it's locally or at the Lakhsi Distribution centre.
  12. With respect, I don't think that is the case. There are normally no immigration embarkation controls at UK ports and airports, haven't been for decades, apart from occasional short-lived operations when the Government has (rightly) been accused of having no idea how many people overstay their visa or how many asylum seekers have left the country. The airline will only be interested in her admissibility to Thailand, and her Thai passport will be fine for the whole trip. The OP should warn her mum to keep her UK passport well out of sight when she arrives at Thai immigration. Some Thai Immigration Officers don't like the notion of dual nationality and would insist on stamping her UK passport as a visitor.
  13. What confirmation do you seek? And are there really any organisations that restrict their email traffic to isp addresses within a defined area? can they do that?
  14. When I took my new passport in for immigration to transfer the stamps from my old one, they did all the stamps and handed the passports back to me. I asked "What about the TM30?". They just took the old one and stapled it, unamended, into my new passport - so it still has the old passport number on it, but that number is recorded in the new passport.
  15. I get where you're coming from. Seeking advice on ThaiVisa/AseanNow is like looking for pearls in a dungheap; you have to wade through loads of <deleted> to find anything of value. But the OP's sarcasm was unnecessary.
  16. Try OzForex, I've used them for over 10 years, sent varying amounts up to £10k no problem. Bought 90000 Baht yesterday, in my account this lunchtime. The transfers from their correspondent bank in Thailand show up in my BKK bank account as 'BTN', so it might not suit those who have to show the payments as foreign income for immigration purposes.
  17. Yes, a pal (Brit) took Thai citizenship a couple of years ago. As I recall he had to make some declaration that he would renounce his British Citizenship "if called upon to do so". I guess if Thailand declared war on the UK he'd have to make a choice.
  18. If your wife is telling you the ceiling needs painting you need to seek advice on more than paint colours...
  19. It might also interest you to know that if you go to the PEA website, click on "e-service" then "meter reading history" and put in your CA reference and PEA number it will bring up a bar chart showing your monthly consumption in units (Kwh) and the Baht amount back to March 2020. PEA - Provincial Electricity Authority > e-Service > Meter Reading History
  20. Banchang, Rayong. I love it that the Water bill has the lat. and long. of the meter to 6 decimal places.
  21. Not here, they don't, the meter readers both for PEA and the Water Authority leave slips in the mailbox with the latest reading, the amount due and the payment date. My wife set up direct debits years ago. We no longer get a postal statement, however. Incidentally, two summers ago the missis must have left insufficient in the account to cover a bigger PEA bill than normal, but we weren't cut off, and they then collected the next month's as normal, showing an outstanding balance of the two months. This continued for several months until I nagged her into going in to the office to settle it.
  22. It's a pity the OP did not have the presence of mind to ask the officer he dealt with. He might then already know what he will need for next year instead of seeking advice from an internet forum.
  23. Getting letters from the bank seems a bit OTT when the OP is only going for the 3-month post-extension check. The only time two years ago when this was a requirement at our local office (they didn't bother last year) I just turned up with the bank book.
