  1. I remain in blissful ignorance of any tickets issued to me, as we no longer get post deliveries.
  2. You really have to search for it, but it appears that their definition of "fully vaccinated" is still 2 doses of the appropriate vaccines, although Boris et al are running around telling everyone to "get boosted".
  3. How queer. In some western countries, notably the USA and UK, Black Lives Matter and their adherents are agitating to defund the police, and in Thailand the police have succeeded in doing it themselves
  4. Last year, and perhaps the year before, though I can't exactly remember, when I did the 90-day report online about 6 weeks before my annual extension, the next reporting date was given as my extension date, so my reporting was re-set when I did the extension. Report on whatever date it says on the last "Next Reporting Date" slip you were given.
  5. Do people really read books on a phone? I have both a tablet and an e-book reader and I'm fine with those, but whilst I can skim through a Daily Mail article I wouldn't want to read anything of substance on such a small screen.
  6. I thought "peripheral vision" is the test where you have to put your chin on a rig and spot the lights shining at each side, i.e. in your peripheral vision. When I went for my test at Rayong a couple of months ago the rig was still there but they didn't use it, perhaps because such close contact would enhance Covid transmission. The only tests were the speed of reaction and traffic light colours.
  7. atm-card-user-guide.pdf (hsbc.com.hk) "Wherever you next travel to, you know that you will never be short of cash with an ATM Card from HSBC. You can withdraw cash using your ATM Card at any of the HSBC Group’s ATMs1 and UnionPay or PLUS ATMs (please refer to the network label at the back of your ATM card) locally and internationally." My Bangkok Bank Debit card is UnionPay. If I were the OP I would stick it in one of their machines and see if that works
  8. Some are open, some are not. A week before Christmas we went for a couple of nights to the Marriott at Laem Mae Phim - a dreary place, not worth the cost. Their only restaurant open in the evening was the cafe beside the foyer, limited menu and no alcohol. Down at a nearby beach you could get a beer, no trouble. Rayong does not permit the service of alcohol in restaurants and bars, and it seems that larger establishments have to stick to the rules, but beach-side cafes feel free to ignore them.
  9. Sorry, can't help you with that, I've never used my HSBC credit card in an ATM, only to make online purchases, mostly on Amazon UK and US (Kindle downloads etc). I fear the card may be little used in future as Amazon will soon no longer accept UK Visa cards.
  10. Is your account not set up for online banking? (I assume your card is HSBC UK). It's fairly simple to set up on a phone call, you'll need a couple of passwords, one to register your device and one for your account. I received a replacement card this week, a simple click on the right box was all I needed to activate it.
  11. I'm only a 15 minute drive from our local office, but I'd still rather do it online than go there. The old system mostly worked for me.
  12. I've only ever presented my passbook (+ copy) at Rayong - BUT I maintain a balance well above 800k and make cash withdrawals every month, and keep the book updated.
  13. I don't think it's that complicated. As best I recall the original story, these unfortunate people were persuaded to deposit their funds by a bank employee working in his bank and issuing them with passbooks which were not recorded on the bank's database, and he pocketed the funds himself.
  14. So, to be clear, was it just "one month's worth" that you bought, and this period is less than the duration of your visa? And this was not queried by the IO on arrival in Bangkok?
  15. It's just a thought, I have no idea whether it would work, but if you have the 600000... number on your vaccination certificate, which was said to be a form of Thai id, you could try that. Recently I was thinking about applying for a Thai credit card, can't remember which bank it was, and tried my vaccination number which worked on the online application. I didn't follow that through, though.
  16. I seem to have got stuck at the "Booking successful" screen, which shows my name, "Processing Date 15 Dec 2021", Request Type, "e-Vaccine Passport", "Free of charge". Have had no email (even in spam folder) or QR code.
  17. Do you mean the system doesn't give you an appointment, or that they don't accept that you have one when you go there?
  18. What's the point of that? The IO's objections seem to be about his financial arrangements, not the status of his marriage
  19. Not for nothing do they call them Changovers. I wouldn't drink a Chang if you gave it to me.
  20. Regular mail is an even greater pain in the ass. We've had no postal deliveries for over 3 months, missing are both my UK bank debit card and UK credit card, a copy birth certificate and God knows what else. I've been up to the Post Office a few times and they pretend to look for stuff and say there's nothing. Before Covid the service wasn't too bad but in the last two years it has become useless. Whether it's just incompetence or criminality I don't know, but I wouldn't trust even Track and Trace at the moment. An acquaintance who has a PO Box number at the same office says he's not getting anything either. I got a replacement credit card sent to a UK bank branch and my son is sending it inside a book via DHL - expensive, but sometimes throwing money at a problem is the best way to solve it.
  21. not so in the case of Rayong, where the OP will be applying. When I did my renewal there two months ago I took a med cert from the local doctor in our town. All he did was take my blood pressure and pulse. No need to go to a hospital. The online computer training is a must-have. Sit through the nearly 1-hour video, answer 3 simple multiple-choice questions, and print out the certificate at the end. If you don't have that you will have to attend the same video training on designated days/times before they will process your application.
  22. OP, I renewed my Thai driving licence at Rayong DLT two months ago, and posted this topic:- Driving Licence renewal in Rayong - Eastern Thailand - ASEAN NOW - News, Travel & Forum I can't say exactly what the requirements will be for a first-time applicant, but the best thing would be for you to go and ask them, because you will have to make an appointment anyway. (But take a Thai speaker, it's a very Thai place). Your national driving licence is what you will need to apply for a Thai licence.
