  1. I pay US taxes every year, they do not look the other way, ever! So, you'll have to elaborate on your simplistic response.
  2. I'm pretty sure I won't pay any tax, otherwise I am confident that being required to do so would be enough to convince my wife to finally leave this cesspool. We could live a way better life back in the states, and only have to deal with setting up a green card , no more 90 days, money in the bank, TM30's, Re-Entry permits, etc. Just way less hassles, and we could all come and go from the USA whenever we want without being hassled by the likes of the Thai Mafia.
  3. In the USA we are tax residents of the USA no matter where we live, thankfully there is a tax treaty between the USA and Thailand.
  4. We have already moved more to living off my wife's salary, I keep all my assets in the USA gaining higher interest, and for stock trading. We sat down a long time ago, studying how we could use our money to build our wealth for retirement and our daughters education, rather than waste it. There is no interest here on accounts, and stock trading here would be crazy. Like you, I keep about 1 Million baht in one bank account here (half for IO purposes, other half for spending). There is just more money to be made investing outside of Thailand, we only bring money in when we need it (new cars, or another condo buy), but usually only if the BHT/USD conversion rate is too good to ignore.
  5. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, I guess I could just stop sending anything over here, which is fine with me.
  6. I had this happen on a Southwest flight (DC9?), back in the 90's when planes flew less than half-full sometimes. I remember it well, because was able to lay down across 3 seats for the whole flight from Boston to Phoenix.
  7. The main issue to me is being dragged into court based on who knows what, corruption scandals, illegal operation, forged land documents, etc. Just not worth the hassle.
  8. Don't even get me started on "Thai Time", I find my blood pressure won't handle it.
  9. I don't think the passengers are the problem, the problem is how much more cargo they can add to the plane that has nothing to do with the passengers. Remember, they fill the planes with cargo being shipped overseas all the time, it's not just luggage on board. So money is the issue, they want more, so they want to blame passengers.
  10. They would be better off starting with a less controversial approach, weigh all luggage, carry-on and checked during the boarding process. Then maybe we can stop the nitwits who bring 3 huge bags onboard, yet have no checked luggage. Because I still can't figure out how they are getting on with massive amounts of oversized baggage.
  11. Of all the places on Earth, this would be one of the countries I would not want to do business with, no matter how good it looks. I just l couldn't trust anything here knowing Thai's are involved, and how would you know anything is even being properly/legally run? When I see illegal building being built on national forest lands regularly in the news, land documents that are illegally obtained, shoddy building practice's, not to mention the corruption involved with doing business here.......what would be the incentive, other than a greedy piece of the corrupt pie?
  12. Right after we find out how he made it through the ranks, any questionable actions while on the job, and a thorough investigation of all his assets.
  13. Are they trying to pretend that this is the only corruption and set of bad cops? These are just the dumbest participants, what about all the RTP who are doing a better job at hiding their corruption and illegal enterprises? They need to investigate all RTP members, and keep track of unusual wealth within their ranks, because this is just the beginning.
  14. The vote buying has begun, I wonder who will be left with the bill?
  15. Nope. We got married while she was finishing up her PhD in the US.
  16. Soon as I can get the wife to agree, then we can escape this insane asylum.
  17. This is one of the dirtiest places I have ever seen, what the heck are they smoking!? It would take a miracle to clean this country up, and there is no will among the masses. I see people so lazy, they won't even throw their trash in a bin 20 feet away, just throwing trash on the ground seems to be the norm here.
  18. If she was smart she invested the 2 billion baht, or put it into hi-rate savings accounts, she would have been making almost 8 Million baht per month. Even if she paid all the principal back to the people, she would still come out way ahead from the interest and/or investments. Which may be why she is paying it all back, she already made her windfall, she can now continue without their money.
  19. The Royal Thai Mafia policing itself, there lies the problem, they are completely out of control. They are anything but a police force, more like gangland style mafioso's contracted out to the highest bidders (i.e. ...not the citizens).
  20. The poster child for everything that is wrong about Thailand, a national disgrace.
  21. The biggest Mafia in Thailand is the RTP, they should be disbanded, and the top officers should all be investigated for corruption and unusual wealth.
  22. Will his finances be inspected with a fine-toothed comb first? Also, if he paid for his position, which I expect all top brass have, then he should be eliminated from selection, and fired.
  23. One of those murderers is Thaksin himself, don't forget his past.
