Expat Tax Twists in Thailand: Navigating the New Landscape in 2024
I think so, in the definition of unearned income and the composition of the 250000 USD investment for those who don't meet the pension requirement. But can't say anything for sure as I don't have the first hand experience having gotten the visa on the base of my pension only. I think @Misty , @Pib or @oldcpu could be more helpful.

Anti-Israel or anti-semitic - Mr Azhar Ali
You must have lost your sense of shame, to write such manure.

Donald and the US expats.
Only some some Americans, those who are in the same mindset as some Germans in 1933. But what terrifies me most is that this disease spreads like Covid.

The "Exodus" of European Farangs, The Trap.
Sure. But that doesn't change that OP is spot on. You need wise planning and money to retire in Thailand. The recent changes in Thai immigration rules are consistent with this reality. Farang ok, but no "Farang kee nok".

Missing British artist Millie Young is 'believed to be trapped inside' sunken tour vessel that is now 180ft beneath the waves after capsizing off Thailand
Thats 55 meters, a very reasonable dive in tropical waters. I went to that depth, on air, in the Geneva lake, but had to abort when both my regulators froze in 4 degrees Celsius. This won't happen in hot waters, so that dive needs just a bit of good planning. And with Heliox it would be a piece of cake anyhow.

Cost of living in Isaan/Buriram in 2024?
Well, tell you a secret: they all do. Who, you think, invented "farang kee nok".

Cost of living in Isaan/Buriram in 2024?
Definitely not, if he is involved with her, if he is he can't let her live with that sort of income. Unless the relationship is totally fake and he sees her as a glorified prostitute.

Cost of living in Isaan/Buriram in 2024?
3 million a year, of course. house, 2 sqm, 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms. Two cars Jazz and CRV both lt 5 years. Holidays, 6 weeks, 15000 a day, some in neighbouring countries. Health cover for everyone. Life insurances. A lot of western food and wine. Everyone has at least one laptop a tablet and a phone. Private school (not international but not bad). A bit of held for ILs. Etc..

Cost of living in Isaan/Buriram in 2024?
You are. I have been living here, in Isaan for 9 years, as a family of 4, and 3 Million give us a decent western lifestyle but no more. So if you are in a relationship with that girl you ought to ensure that her life isn't any worse than yours. And 50K might be.. just adequate.

So you don't qualify for this visa. No need to denigrate it. Ok, let's get back to tax.

No need for that, just show them you pension statement and health insurance, pay the 50k and off you go.

Fair enough, average retirement year in EU/US is now in the 65-67 range, which gives another 12 years of life expectancy, so retiring at 60 makes you privileged. Even though active teaching when over 60 might be daunting.

Expat Tax Twists in Thailand: Navigating the New Landscape in 2024
Yes this part makes only mention "gifts received". So it leaves out the actual liability of the giver (or gifter?). I am pretty sure that between giver and receiver, one will be taxed. I dearly would like the "Income tax optimisation through giftS" to get clarified here. Let's not forget that the PM has received 10M from one of his children last year, there must be a reason.

Expat Tax Twists in Thailand: Navigating the New Landscape in 2024
By "threshold" you mean the first 150k non taxable assessable income? If that's the case I had it right in my previous post. But my wife wouldn't consider anything below ten times this amount. So at best a way to avoid the 30% bracket with two incomes as one' wife personal income may taxable too.

Expat Tax Twists in Thailand: Navigating the New Landscape in 2024
So what you are saying is: - If I give 10 million to my Wife, these 10 million are non assessable for me, as they are a gift. - and for my wife they are equally non assessable, because they are a gift. Can't be, as no one would pay tax in Thailand...

But then it becomes assessable income of the giftee, no? So if that was the case it would help mitigating the higher tax brackets, a bit.
