  1. Not my experience last week. We used one that was several weeks old at SP. it's hard to imagine it was missed, they were very very thorough...
  2. Yikes. Why can't they just standardize on requirements, on what planet does having it same day make any difference, especially given you've got ~30 days of processing to wait to. I was annoyed as hell trying to find a passbook updating machine that was accessible early morning last time round, but adding this takes the biscuit. It sounds like they just dont want to do any marriage extension work till the afternoon
  3. A friend of mine got hung out on one years ago, one of his dates said she had seen him on the site, with the wording of be careful this butterfly or something to that effect. It think it got buried pretty quickly so wasn't a big drama for him
  4. Careful. You want a valid PNR, not just a PDF, that doesnt say it gives you a real PNR like the $12 to $15 sites. I've had check-in girl check mine on her phone, this was traveling from BKK to HCMC when I didn't know how many days I would stay exactly.

  6. There's are other offices that also don't accept a simple hotel stay as enough to get 30 day extension. The woman upstairs at the old SP would claim that if you're staying at a hotel long time then you will have paper contract, this all happened before checking on the computer if hotel had even registered you. If you went to get an extension and didn't have some proof of registered address being recorded at immigration it was upstairs first for you...
  7. It seems though the likely outcome is going to be that we get the dinosaurs, in every ministry, in exchange Thaksin get's his freedom, not sure he's really going to be active in anyway, but we get dinosaur rule for next three or four years..
  8. I'm not sure you can call Elite visa super rich. But I have heard over the years how he made it difficult for expats. In my lifetime though I've only seen the crackdowns being after the 2012 coup, prior to that you could bounce in and out of Sadao without even a glance as many times you wanted, then came the overstay announcements in 2014 which prior to that was never a problem, just an exchange of cash for a red stamp, then obviously things bat <deleted> crazy with covid border closing and insanely silly sandbox nonsense
  9. What reason do some expats have to support him? Genuinely curious is there some more subsistence than "he's better than current lot" or "wife's family think he's really good for farmers"
  10. Sounds like Binance. Loads of clowns swear by this company with its registered offices as a bleak garage on a run down industrial state.
  11. 2.5hrs seems about average, 1.5hrs from walking in to walking out seems hard to imagine, guess for most morning trippers it does overflow into the afternoon, even after setting off at 7am we were getting bloody close to 12noon after the 5th step, the dreaded let's all close and restart around 1pm (around being operative word here, lights are on, people are flowing back in but not much else happening). A small queue at the copy shop or an extra agent arriving would of thrown us into the afternoon. I can't imagine anyone advising the wife just to take half a day off? it's plan for an allday affair in my opinion, and if you're lucky, you're done by lunch
  12. The letter i isn't anywhere near z on the keyboard or virtual keyboards. Typical saving face. I would take a chance and play ignorant when questioned - i.e. don't point it out, let them get half way through processing it at BKK airport before they realize, then hope for the best. The problem you will have is the eagled eyed staff at Heathrow, if you can book an ticket (and print it off) for outbound within 30 days - can just be to malaysia or vietnam, or alternative one of the onward flight providers only a tenner, then you won't need to present the visa during check-in and if you have an extra check in transit (sometimes in Doha). It won't be recorded anywhere what you presented. Do note you need to show the e-visa print out also when getting an extension in country if that's your long term play. FWIW, Ive flown with typo in my name and wasn't even noticed ???? was sweating a little at check-in and boarding pass check. You check if you did (or your browser extensions - autofill etc) did make a mistake, what did you initial email say, it looks like this with the Dear <FIRSTNAME> <LASTNAME>
  13. I blame the bulk of the people, only 38% people voted for real change, 29% people voted for 10,000baht, a few percent for other democrat parties, and an alarming near 20% for military parties - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Thai_general_election. Until you get at least 60% of populous awake then real change won't be possible. This election is lost. Try again in a few years. A chance to free themselves thrown away, it some ways it reminds of 'govern me harder please' people during covid. I hope your 10,000baht goes far as it's going be a painful few years on top of the last 10!
  14. This is pretty cool. Does the 90 day visa mean no return visit in 180 days? Same with 45 in 90 days? Currently afaik with the 14 day exemption airlines are keen to check if you've been in Vietnam in last 28 days as you can't bounce back in until another 14 days has lapsed?
  15. Interesting, is there a benefit then to submitting the extension on the very last day of your permission to stay and thus having to do this once every 13 months instead of every 12? The under consideration of 30 days counts as permission to stay for all intent purposes?
  16. Thai Buddhism the name of the game is cash. There's a reason the most active place for lottery ticket sales is in the temple car park and the most wished request is to get rich themselves. Give money, pray for money, take a ticket... Fundamental flawed adoption of Buddhism, but not so bad when you compare it to any interpretation of Islam or sacrifice the kids to Father Fiddler of Christianity
  17. Many agents doing the marriage 400k deal, just need your bank book along with the other bits, no idea how they get around the two months seasoning, it's more expensive than retirement visas though which seems to be a walk in the park via the agent route.
  18. Isn't it a bit like the Chinese? All money towards the tour operators and affiliated businesses...
  19. 6-8 pictures should do it. Don't forget to include house/condo/apt number in at least one of them. Also they wanted last year's photos too, which was an unexpected requirement.
  20. Is Penang really that bad nowadays? I'd rather wait in Penang for a day or two for a Chulia Street agent to sort stuff out and taxi you back and forth from the consulate then spending a day trying to acquire a 3 month non-O based on marriage here. Jim's visa agency is closed last I heard, but the agent opposite has done my visa before (stardust I think it was called, small guesthouse), if that's not open just ask any farangs lurking around Chulia which one they used.
  21. From experience around 20k for minimal but respectful, cant remember each cost but some of the items: Hospital releasing the body, any unpaid hospital bills Volunteer Ambulance to deliver body to temple Donation at temple to handle the funeral and cremation - body usually held for a two or more days Scattering of the ashes Food for everyone after the event Endless calls and faxes to British embassy
  22. Extremely isolated case, horrific indeed, but maybe 1 in a billion, I wouldn't trust 1 in 2 here...
  23. A friend pays 25k a month to keep it in the village, but who knows if it sneaks back pattaya moment he's airbourne. He's getting mugged off imo and I don't think it does any good, there always extras he has pony up, and they just see him as a walking ATM when he visits. She should get a job, even 7/11, and then if he wants to supplement that a little then fair enough, but not my life or money... I tune out when he starts moaning about it now ????
  24. Horrible airline, food is terrible, and then they "sorry sir bar is closed, we open it again at breakfast", I didn't realize there was a bar, I just fancied a can of beer whilst watching a old action movie on the terrible seatback screen, but no can not. Will fly via the middle east and incur the extra 2 hours and flight change any day of week, Qatar, Emirates, and even Etihad 100x better.
  25. So in labor glut, instead of selecting the best based on merit, fine tuning and evolving your screening procedures to filter a larger pool of candidates for better prospects it's now who can afford it?
