It is interesting that a comment such as mine evokes accusations of unhinged insanity because it does not pledge allegiance to the selfish foreign policies of your country. -

I would recommend referral to IMF debts. Alternatively you could pay me to work for you but my rates to come out of retirement will be horrendous ! -

The only change in the disparity of relative quality in years of life since the proclaimed defeat of communism and fascist authoritarianism since ww2 are the flags of sycophantic nations that bow to the flag featuring an endangered eagle. -

I have come across this situation several times over the last 23 years. Similar outcome included. No innocence on the part of anyone involved. Middle aged foreigner targets young village girl with lures of promised bliss. Makes the trip to visit and woos her and parents with largish wads of cash enough to convince parents to agree to "future" matrimony and handover of an a-greed sum. He bonks his brains out thinking the situation is perfect while demonstrating some strange but possibly predictable behaviours that frighten the girl and parents once comprehended as fact. She runs, he spits the dummy while the parents ignore him, he departs in a rage with whatever bling he brought with, returns in an effort to con access to his cash pot, gets ignored more. His loss. No comebacks. Negotiated sexual connection within Thai legal terms of age at 16 with paid parental consent conditional on marriage . Broken contract . Being a foreigner is incidental. Next .

In the same way there are many bacteria that are beneficial to systemic health but can be wiped by antibiotics the non selective pre-emptive elimination of viral infections may also leave people weaker. Antivirals that totally circumvent the natural processes of the immune system may be wonderful bio science but will it actually be an advantage? I am still wondering how a single vaccine could ever provide umbrella protection against any ever mutating virus let alone a grouping of.

Wonderful utopian concept that works on a scale appropriate for demand to be supplied. On a scale where it became the norm the baler's could not give it away let alone pay for it. A similar idea was initiated quite a few years back aimed at sugar cane growers where the concept was to increase payouts for cane that had not been burnt out and buying the dried foliage to use as efficiently fired fuel in sugar mills. Intended net result was a reduction in atmospheric particle pollution. Unfortunately not co2. Short lived. Increasingly cane is being harvested by machines and the foliage dross is of no consequence to a regenerative crop. Unfortunately the same does not apply to rice harvested by hand or by machine. In either method the bulk of unshredded straw remains an impediment to turning the soil. The addition of a knife shredder to the straw exhaust of combine harvesters that reduced it to a lawn clippings state would be ideal because it could be turned under/into the soil to eventually decompose adding the oh so deficient humus that is increasingly lacking in Thai soil. -

Criticism and complaint and callous derogatory disrespect for a man who unfortunately died performing an annual task necessary to eke out a survival income growing food for those who's only concern is feeding own face . The commercialism is not a ground level. It is at corporate manipulation level that keeps farmers poor. -

If there was a low cost method provided to small rice growers to rid the ground of rice straw that inhibits ploughing for next crop they would most likely be willing to use it. -

Foreigner jumps from tower in Surat Thani province

Given that the item posted above does not state this man achieved death and that I am not inclined to ghoulishly seek out further details and despite your apparent authority on suicidal heights it states a 20 meter jump so I will excuse my ignorance . -

You are right. I need amend my comment derived from memory . The first time I needed to update my passport while an extension of stay was given at a time my original had more than 6 months validity that permission was given for the ensuing 1 year validity. Present New passport and transfer of stamps done and at no charge. Years later when once again I had to renew permission to stay and passport was valid for less than a year the permission was granted only up until the date of passport expiry. I only noticed that after leaving Imm. office so went back to ask about. I was very brusquely informed that when I got a new passport I would be required to apply for a new extension as from extension expiry date. While I was lucky to have checked rather than assume old protocols existed I was also disappointed in the fact that it moved my extension expiry/renewal date to a less convenient time of year ( July ) instead of Feb as it had been. Less convenient for personal travel reasons. That happened about 12 years back if memory serves me correctly.
