  1. Simple burritos originated in Northern Mexican but what the world knows as burritos are greatly embellished from those. They are not part of Mexican food in the rest of Mexico. The basic concept is a large flour tortilla wrap. As said before large parts of the US NORTH of current Mexico used to be ... Mexico.
  2. Alot has to do with immigration patterns in different places. The Greek owned diner thing is mostly northeast coast. Hummus isn't Greek. We'd never have New Orleans cuisine without the French influence Italian whether decent or crappy is the most popular "ethnic" food nationally. There are many many different styles including Italian American red sauce joints. Italian American can sometimes be very good regardless of what Italians think. I grew up on such a place. Pops pizza. Eggplant Parm and stuffed manicotti to die for.
  3. Italian you say? Americans don't consider Mac and cheese Italian at all! Pure American.
  4. Pimped up chicken tortilla soup recipe. Order with a side of refried beans which includes sour cream. Also order 2 corn tortillas. If soup isn't hot enough to melt cheese, nuke it. Put base soup into large bowl including the tortilla strips, cilantro and cheese. Add Thai chili powder and Bottled Chipotle hot sauce to taste. Stir well. Add warmed up sliced poached chicken slices. Add the cream that came with the beans. Stir. Top with a generous amount of sliced avocados firm if possible. Soup is ready and scoop up the beans with the tortillas.
  5. Regulars what do you think is missing on their menu? For me Mac and cheese I really don't understand why they don’t do that. It would be a best seller. Collard greens Grits Hush puppies Sweet potatoes New England clam chowder Real southern fried chicken not fast food style Chicago style Italian beef sandwiches
  6. Much of the US used to be Mexico. The US has its own regional styles of Mexican food that aren't served in Mexico except maybe at gringo tourist traps.
  7. It's as good as can be expected in Thailand. I am a regular for their steak super burritos. When I get the Friday Shredded pork I ask for Ranchero sauce on the side and add tortilla chips I also order their unbreaded chicken Parm with spag bolognese, BBQ chicken mondays with coleslaw and refried beans, and their chicken tortilla soup which I majorly pimp up at home. Occasionally they have very special specials such as Tamales platter Turkey with all the trimmings baguette! French dip roast beef sandwich Unfortunately I don't like their tacos much but the Fried fish ones are ok I guess. They do not have authentic flavor salsas.
  8. So why are you posting on a topic that doesn't interest you?
  9. Up to you. But you can learn a lot about the real world by getting into this. I've found it intellectually stimulating. Zinc mines in South America to power EVs. Pharmaceutical pipelines. Anti obesity wonder drugs. Waste management company so boring but safe dividends. Amazon so much more than shopping. Who knew? The fates of the multiple corporations I used to work for. It brings me back to college where I wrote a long paper about the American beer industry. Also I'm doing buy and hold. Not really active management. Of course I'll keep an eye on developments. One suggestion I do have to people that don't stock pick. Consider Berkshire Hathaway B. It's a stock that is in many ways like a fund itself as it holds so many stocks. Also when you buy Berkshire you're buying a lot of Amazon and Bsnk of America https://capital.com/top-20-berkshire-hathaway-holdings-buffett-buys
  10. You're basically right for long term investors (as opposed to active traders) but I've recently found it's kind of fun to have at least o portion of your portfolio in indivual stocks. For the very knowledgeable it could even be 100 percent but if it's more of a hobby perhaps 20 percent would be OK for most. Doesn't mean you'll beat the indexes but if you buy a bunch of stocks in different sectors / caps / growth / value / dividends / regions etc., you are diversifying, and it's not likely to be much worse than the market.
  11. Well it's American style Mexican but I do love their Super Burritos with steak but suggest adding avocado at home. Also on Fridays they have a special with shredded pork. Hotmeals is related to Tigglebitties but delivery only. They use their own drivers and free delivery for over 200 baht orders.
  12. Should do six months for the favored countries on arrival like Mexico or three plus three in country extension like Colombia, then restrict going back in during that calender year (to six months total), like Colombia. Why not?
  13. With the greatest respect, not all.of us. https://www.thrillist.com/news/nation/americans-cannot-understand-british-sarcasm-study

  15. It's worth noting that in times and countries with high levels of anti Americanism, Americans are advised to make an effort to blend in. But this can be more general anti crime advice to all. Such as don't wear shorts and sandals in Medellin which screams tourist and makes people targets
  16. Yes exactly. I say U.S. to f-rangs though.
  17. Yeah well when I speak a few words 100 percent of native English speakers can place me and often say so you're American. No need to ask. As if I didn't know.
  18. Not really that many romcoms actually. A number of film festival type movies that interest about one percent of audiences. I quickly scanned it. I've seen some There are a number of quite good suggestions on the list. I think worth a closer look for some of us
  19. Any relation to a certain Anthony Devolder? How about Art Vandelay?
