  1. If you say so. https://www.businessinsider.com/most-biased-news-outlets-in-america-cnn-fox-nytimes-2018-8?op=1
  2. I recommend PBS News Hour on youtube. The most objective reality based US tv news source I know. Of course many will find that approach boring.
  3. Not an issue I've had to deal with. Once I even encountered a rich cheeky Muscovite brat on a baht bus who offered to pay my fare.
  4. I don't doubt the brilliance of Musk but his erratic abrasive personality indicates he's rather an ass. If the twit deal goes forward, I'm not at all confident that he has the right stuff to improve it.
  5. Any of them have nukes or are a major bread basket for the world? The reality is the Russia Ukraine war is the most globally important war since WW2 and its not even close. Also to note the speed of Ukrainians becoming refugees dwarfs those other conflicts. Also how many Yemenis were stuck specifically in Thailand when war broke out there? Most of the world may not care YET about the Russia Ukraine war but they really should.
  6. Definitely but my take on this is the Holy Grail vaccine doesn't exist yet and there isn't much political will to invest in developing it.
  7. The context is the man is an extreme isolationist in the shameful spirit of Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh in WW2. Also a history of Putin admiration.
  8. By protection rates I mean protection from serious illness and death for infected people who are well vaccinated. Dr. Topol of the Scripps Institute asserts protection slippage from 95 to 80 percent based on the variant situation in the US (massively infectious). The entire world wants this to be over and behaving as it is over in so many places. But is it really? Covid segment including Scripps interview starts at 31:50 https://www.scripps.edu/faculty/topol/
  9. As consumers we all have items that we've bought and never use, and also items that surprise us so that we wonder how we ever coped without them. Well this is a story of the latter type of item. Taking the risk not expecting too much I bought this item on Lazada at the always "discounted" price of 1769 baht. Now you can spend much much more on big name steam cleaners and most likely they are a higher quality, but do you really need that? There are also now specialized types of steam cleaners for hard floors only that have two tanks, so you vacuum and steam clean at the same time without the need for microfiber pads. Those intrigue me but they are VERY EXPENSIVE particularly in Thailand where they appear to be about double the cost compared to the west. But this one supposedly "does it all" which of course it doesn't but it seems to be well on the way. So far I have been using only the hand held option to clean up funky built up kitchen and bathroom messes. Now if you maintenance clean constantly (or have a partner or worker doing that for you) you aren't likely to have many such messes. But you still might have some. Or you might just want to use it to disinfect stuff. It's not exactly a miracle worker but it still does a great job on these funky projects. You need to read the manual to choose your heat level setting properly. Too low and it won't work on the job, and too high and you can do damage. So you fill up the water, close it up, power it up, and the steam starts in seconds! Then when you want to stop, change attachments, add water, etc. you merely power it off (unplug it) and you can IMMEDIATELY open up the water tank with no fear of explosions. Some downsides are it has a power cord so you need to take care with that, don't steam it, etc. Also the main attachment that I'm using the nylon brush got degraded on first use. There are no replacement sources. But it's still very usable so not a big problem. A tip that I picked up online for big messes is to spray the area with heated up vinegar and water (50, 50) and let sit awhile. That does indeed make the steaming part more effective. The mopping function is done with microfiber pads which you can easily buy more online. They need to be washed after use. I haven't even tried the mopping function but I assume it works. It's mostly for hard floors but there is a rug attachment. Bottom line, I love my "cheap off brand" steam cleaner. Obligatory video:
  10. When you're face to face with an all powerful officer, what the police order says is more or less moot in comparison to how that specific office enforces combo applications (that is IF they accept them at all). In my view the combo method is highly undesirable as it combines the worst of the other two methods, plus one. One) If you don't have an embassy letter you need to make sure your imported income is done every month and that it's properly coded Two) you have to worry about bank balance rules Three) you have to worry about the peculiarities of how your local office interprets point two for combos (that is IF they accept combo applications at all) It's really just too much unless you absolutely NEED to do it that way.
  11. The gang that couldn't shoot straight, bless their dear hearts (not)
  12. I guess that makes sense but frankly I think it's really really hard to avoid this issue being politicized.
  13. Jenner does not represent trans women at all! She's a republican who happens to be famous. Her opinion carries no more weight than any random transgender woman (who are overwhelmingly NOT republican for obvious reasons). In the U.S. the republican party has basically declared WAR on transgender people. i don't agree with calling trans women men. It's fine not to call them women but they ARE different in that they have transitioned or are in the process so that real difference should be acknowledged in referring to them. There have been some high profile cases where transgender women competing with women have been exceptional athletes, but by no means are most of them at the elite level. But some are and that pisses off a lot of people as the accusation of UNFAIRNESS is made. It may or may not be objectively unfair in a particular case, but the thesis of this topic is that there is an actual rational basis for the accusations. It's at the very least a defensible position. Compared to pure hateful policies such as making giving health care to trans youth in Alabama a felony is pure bigotry, hate, and political demagoguery. This topic isn't about not respecting or understanding transgender issues. It's about political realism.
  14. They've been using the sucky btand vaccines. Huge mistake.
  15. You'e talking about 90 day address reports which are required at every office. He was talking about the 90 day SHOW MONEY check in Totally different things
  16. Even if you do get the order page, you can ignore it.
  17. Its high time for the Russian people to be revolting, if they can possibly manage that.
  18. This one not so gay. Classic first line! Instead of meat I eat vegetables and p____y. Alot of people are upset that Latvia didn't make the finals. I was surprised that Malta didn't either.
  19. Jomtien and I think maybe one or two others. It is not enforced.
  20. If you missed Heartstoppers you missed something great. Its not only for young adult and gay viewers. Its G rated. The two leads are now instant international stars.. Good news now is there will be a second season where some of the minor characters in season one will be developed. Heartstopper heart warming.
  21. You don't need the 12 month statement IF a 12 month copy of your passbook doesn't include composite entries. As far as anyone knows or has reported there is NO CONDEQUENCE to just skipping the "required" three month "show money" thingie. If you do no receipt that you did will be given. The important thing is to stay in compliance with all the balance requirements throughout the year. If you fail on that your next annual extension will be rejected.
  22. I"m more pessimistic Assuming Russia "loses" its not as if they'll leave Crimea and Donbas. They might negotiate a pause but as long as Putin or even worse hawks remain in power the genocidal goals toward Ukraine persist even if it takes them 30 years I would also be concerned how Ukraine can restart its vital grain exports. Vital to Ukraine's economy and feeding the the world. Not forgetting perhaps trillions of dollars to rebuild Ukraine and dealing with the many millions of refugees. I would caution against premature celebrations.
  23. Sure. Mexico has many states. But such lists are limited. For one example, there is no problem traveling or living in Mazatlan which happens to be in Sinaloa. Mexico remains incredibly popular with American and Canadian expats to the point where its extremely difficult to book appointments at many Mexican consulates for residency applications and similarly difficult at Mexican immigration offices in more popular places in Mexico such as Queretaro. You must apply in Mexico within 30 days after entering with a new residency visa or the vida vanishes.
  24. The minority that is isolationist comes mostly from the far right but also some from the far left. What Ukraine needs to worry about is sustained support if the war drags on for years.
