Trump under investigation for potential violations of Espionage Act
Jingthing replied to Scott's topic in World News
Exactly. For the grifter is was never really America First. It was always Trump first, last and always. I reckon he thinks the cult members that swallow his rhetoric are suckers and rubes. -

This may be potentially financially devastating to Trump's beloved Trump organization. -
She has no chance of being nominated, but yes, it would be good to have her anti-trumpist voice still in the public eye. She could be building for a time when maybe the Trumpists fade away. It's hard to imagine that right now. His movement has become much bigger than him in the republican party. It's a completely different party now for better or worse. In my opinion MUCH WORSE because they're now quite explicitly white nationalist, anti-democracy, pro authoritarian, pro minority rule by dirty tricks on the court and gerrymandering, pro bigotry against non-white minorities, actively scapegoating LGBT people at a toxicity level I haven't seen in my lifetime, and infected with antisemitism.

Trump under investigation for potential violations of Espionage Act

As stated Thaksin went down in a coup. Trump lost an election and attempted a violent coup to corruptly hang on the power. TOTALLY DIFFERENT. What decent Americans don't want is a "president" (much of his deluded cult still think he is that) that thinks he is above the law, behaves like a Mafia Don, incites his private violent goon militia squads, grifts like grifting is going out of style, is a white nationalist authoritarian, and admires global dictators (like Putin) while consistently insulting long time democratic allies. -

What you seem to know is canned BIG LIE talking points. You're simply parroting completely false information. LOSERS in elections have access to courts to air grievances. Trump did with his crew of bizarre lawyers in many many cases and came up completely empty. Trump and everyone else who bothered to be informed knew that the RED MIRAGE was coming for many months before the election. Trump, realizing his cult following doesn't bother being informed and have very short attention spans, understood he could and would claim victory even if he lost. So that's what he did. At his late date this grifting EX president has still not conceded. That indeed is the behavior of a leader of a tin pot banana republic dictatorship. What Is the Red Mirage? You said why do gay people always try to make out we are supressing our desire to try it out? That is completely FALSE.

We'll take it. At 5:07. Note that of all the expat buckets in Thailand, he only mentions Pattaya. Does Pattaya get enough attention by the Retire Abroad / Expatriation Encouragement Media relative to it's actually great advantages? I think it doesn't, and I think we all know why that is. The sex reputation thing. As if they don't have sex workers in Mexico City. Mexico City residents angered by influx of Americans speaking English, gentrifying area: report (nypost.com)

OK, push has come to shove and not having a U.S. mobile phone in my name for two factor banking codes has now become a more urgent problem for me. Yes, I know, I know, there have been other topics about this general topic, but my request here is more specific (yet I imagine solutions would be helpful to others in similar situations). Yes I have looked into other topics yet I always seem to end up dazed and confused about which option to choose, what will really work, and exactly how to get it done. So kindly indulge me on this more tailored request. First the parameters: No VOIP. No Google Voice I really need a real U.S. mobile number in my name. The trend is for banks to stop accepting anything else and this has become real to me. So advice needs to be about getting an actual U.S. mobile number in my name. I do have a U.S. credit card with a U.S. address. I have no plans to travel to the U.S. Any advice that involves the need to actually be in the U.S. won't help me. I do have a U.S. contact that can help me with any needed U.S. setup, having things shipped there etc. I assume this will be a SIM card that gets mailed to me instead of a SIM attached to a specific physical phone in the U.S. I want the monthly cost to be minimal as I only need this for bank codes. Ideally you have done something similar to this successfully yourself, and it would be better if fairly recently such as within the last year or two. OK, I think that pretty much covers it. Any information that you can share that fit the parameters listed above will be most welcome. Thank you for reading this and posting help if you do indeed have info that can help.

I've been told by multiple credible pharmacists that Lispril / Zestril / Lisinopril is now completely unavailable in Thailand! Except if a random pharmacy has some stock left which is unlikely the pharmacies can't order new stock.. I was told an estimated date that they might have it again. July. Beginning or end of July? No guarantees. So obviously each individual has their own medical details but after doing some research I learned that the most common substitute is Losartan generic brand Loranta. Rather than another ace inhibitor Equivalent doses Lisinopril 10 mg Losartan 50 mg This is NOT to be taken as medical advice! Do what you feel you need to do as far as starting a substitute. See a doc / do your own research / consult a trusted pharmacist etc. Anyway this topic is here for discussion for people impacted by this supply chain problem.

This is a can of worms issue, but here goes. If trans women competitive athletes never won anything, this wouldn't be such a big issue, but it gets magnified when they do, as just happened in the NCAA. Lia Thomas becomes first trans woman to win NCAA swimming championship (usatoday.com) While the right wing is focused on mean spirited widely discriminatory laws to ban trans girls and women from ever competing at all, on the other side, the mainstream LGBT politics is for full inclusiveness within defined guidelines around things like hormone levels. Even if it was true that a trans women never had an unfair advantage based on birth gender, the damaging political optics of this issue are never going to go away, particularly when trans women win. After all, in competitive sports, tiny advantages make all the difference. My question here is whether blindly supporting inclusiveness without taking into account the constant and predictable backlash (that will never go away) is really worth it? This issue isn't about everything in the lives of trans women or all or most trans women. It's only about a small minority of them that wish to participate in formal athletic competition. For them not to be able to do that would be a loss for them of course. But the question here, is if this one aspect of such a small number of people within a minority really WORTH it? Considering the public sees LGBT as a monolith type thing, should support for this inclusiveness be moved from knee jerk always for to NEUTRAL. Not to join the bigots but to just back off even if it will be seen by some as throwing people under the bus? Keeping in mind the cliche pick your battles wisely, should this be a battle that LGBT politics should wisely choose to NOT pick? Doesn't support for this highly controversial niche issue DAMAGE the rest of the LGBT political movement's equality goals?

Keeping on the theme, how about Portugal? Portugal continues to be high on the list of welcoming, high quality, more or less "affordable" expat destinations. They have a quite organized visa program for this. I had some interest in Portugal but a while back determined that my pension was inadequate to quality, but have recently read some items that maybe it would be OK. I'm not sure if the policies have liberalized or I've just read misinformation (before or recently). The process must start in your home country not Portugal. It takes a long time. Whether the Portuguese embassy in Bangkok would process non-Thai expats for this I don't know. Some difficult things with it is that you must have an address in Portugal to be approved (not sure at which stage) and having a Portuguese bank account with proof that you can flow in your funds is showing up in enforcement. In other words not only proof of finances but proof that you can get the funds to Portugal which sounds logical enough but you'd obviously need to be in Portugal to open a bank account. As far as cost of living, my general impression is that in general Portugal is not as cheap as the usual Asean places Thai expats are looking at. Particularly with housing. But of course like anywhere it's one thing living in central Lisbon and another living in a non-touristic smaller town. English is widely spoken especially by younger people, but I think you would need to learn the language to progress to higher residency or citizenship status after five years. Personally I find the Portugal Portuguese language to be much less fun than Brazilian Portuguese and also weirdly it sounds like Russian. Yes I have been there long ago driving a lot of places around the country even to the interior but I didn't make it as far north as Porto. I did make it to Coimbra though. Porto is landing on lists now as one of the top expat destinations in the world now for both retirement and digital nomads. Non E.U. people would need to buy private health insurance. While much less expensive than U.S. based private insurance, people would have the same worries about issues with age and preexisting conditions. My personal feelings about Portugal are mixed. It is Europe and Europe on a lower budget The food and wine are great. It's a smaller sized country which has its advantages. It's closer to the USA than Thailand by far. The negative part is more about my emotional reaction to the place that can't really be quantified. Visa info. https://www.globalcitizensolutions.com/portugal-d7-visa/ https://www.d7visa.com/portugal-retirement-visa/ So have any of you considering moving to Portugal. Have you lived there before?

This is a new concept in restaurant review threads. I hope y'all enjoy it and participate. Pattaya I think is a better food city than many people know or think. Time to spread the word, in a short and sweet way. Suggested Guidelines: Make it short! (and sweet) Emphasis on reasonably priced restaurants! (most of us are not made of money) Emphasis on less than famous restaurants! (most of have heard of the Sizzler) Emphasis on new "discoveries" to you, not necessarily new restaurants! (if its new to you, it may be new to us too) Emphasis on places with at least some good dishes! (seeking pleasure here, not pain) Emphasis on places that offer something a little bit "different"! (green curry isn't different) Include a link if you like! (this is the internet after all) Try to indicate location! (location, location) So the idea here is a running thread with perhaps "twitter-like" quick HIT and RUN reviews on a variety of places you've experienced and would like to share. As opposed to threads about one restaurant, or threads on one food type like pizza. I will start with THREE of my own Hit and Run mentions to illustrate the concept. I think in general doing ONE at a time (one post, one mini "hit and run" review) is probably better but I wanted to get the ball rolling with three. *************** Ons Moeder Dutch Restaurant, Jomtien Menu is in Dutch. Daily three course meal -- 280 baht Many classic Dutch dishes. Try the super thick pea soup! Some say the best Dutch food in Thailand, I wouldn't be surprised! Dutch hangout, you might not feel that you fit in if not Dutch but its worth going for the food. Near the inner Jomtien beach police box area http://www.ons-moede...aya.nl/map.html http://www.tripadvis...i_Province.html **************** "The Place" Israeli Restaurant Menu in English and Hebrew and maybe Thai (I forget) Hard to find Israeli specialties: Shakshuka served with bread (this is very similar to Mexican Huevos Rancheros I kid you not!), Hummus with spicy meat, Hummus with organ meats, Baba ghanoush, Full platter dinner meals, Homemade soups such as chicken or lentil I think probably the best Israeli "place" in town and yes of course an Israeli tourist hangout Soi Boukaow, not too far from Pattaya Tai https://foursquare.c...a52fadb3461eb25 ****************** Umanchu Okinawa Food Also has Thai food. Okinawa food has different dishes than standard Japanese. Featured Okinawa dishes: Bitter gourd with pork and egg stir fry / Okinawa soba with pork belly style pork (both offered in small sets 200 baht) Prices moderate, portions on the small side. Good clean flavors. Only a few tables and they are outside! Across the street from the Montien Hotel, 2nd Road http://en.wikipedia....kinawan_cuisine http://www.foodpanda...anchu-(Pattaya) _________________ The idea NOW is for you to add YOUR own hit and run snippets about places YOU would like to mention and share. My "vision" for this thread is just a bunch of posts only with these mini hit and run restaurant mentions, but I understand people are probably going to want to COMMENT on the restaurants other people have mentioned. I guess we'll see how it goes (if it goes at all).
