Accident Horrific Motorway 7 Crash Claims Eight Lives
parallelman replied to Georgealbert's topic in Bangkok News
My condolensesto the families. At just past 9 a.m. I was driving along the 210 route going out of Udorn. A lot of large trucks and Lorries with trailers battling it out, well those that seemed to have no loads, and passing me while my speed was about 80 km/hr. The traffic lights at Nong Wua Saw were green as I approached and crossing the junction trucks whizzed by on both sides. I did think the truck on the left was going to turn left since it was in that lane coming up on my left. But it didn't. I decelarated so that I wouldn't get caught between them but then the driver of the Lorry at my rear started honking. I was already in the left lane approaching the incline and with traffic passing on the right I had nowwhere else to go. He was still honking as he eventually overtook. Phew, I thought. -

I remember that after being in Thailand for about 5 years I was helping a Thai friend who was a manager of a gym. He had several thousand leaflets printed advertising the gym. He gave me some so I could distribute them...but I immediately saw a glaring mistake... a word with a double vowel '...าา'. I thought 'this is not going to go down well'. Having showed him the mistake, First he thought it might be just one or two leaflets but each bundle was the same. He was furious. He sacked the two individuals who 'designed' the ad because they obviously hadn't checked finished examples. He told them who had found the mistake and as they left, well if looks could kill. I went to the print shop with him where there was a big argument because the shop claimed that the proof had been accepted. In all I found four mistakes, the others being words with missing vowels. The manager of the shop was not pleased with me because he said that I probably influenced my friend to demand corrections free of charge, which of course I hadn't. I think I learned about the value of Thai 'loss of face' on that day.

Well the way I see it is that if it is just for Thai citizens it will reduce the queue numbers so that'll be a plus...not that I had any trouble last November but then I didn't use the main office in the province. -

Why so many conspiracy theorists and what to do about them
parallelman replied to kwilco's topic in Off the beaten track
Hmm, though I agree, unfortunately it isn't that simple. Some are growing and one or two have books that are being considered to be used in school. Flat Earth is an example (see picture). Here, because the item is based on bible hence the considration. -

A cry for help, to the Universe, from Planet Earth.
parallelman replied to Jeff the Chef's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Maybe AI will get rid of us...then Ai will have robots dig giant qarries for minerals to build more robots. Then they realize that they have achieved the same end as human and will therefore selfdistruct. Or a giant asteroid somewhere out there will strike...what am I saying? Gee, what a way to start the day... -

Maybe Thailand will reciprocate by deporting all American expats...care of Aeroflot -
I think many people were/are confused. A few years ago one NASA flight controller made some comparisons. He argued that when a car is relaced by the next version why does it take years to get the new verson on the road when the new version may already have 90% of the older model's characteristics? He made the same comparison with aircraft. He argued that using newer technology means more precision which the aged systems might not be able to accommodate. Therefore, it means starting from scratch with the new tecnology. That is, testing the new technology with unmanned launches first. Others have argued that the old molds atc. were destroyed to make way for different programs and building new infrastructure. I am not an engineer or machine designer so I just take their word for it. Well, whatever the reason they'd better get 'move on' because I read today that the asteroid that had a 3.1% of hitting Earth in 2032 (but now less chance) has a bigger chance of hitting the moon. 🙂
