  3. Picture from responders A popular shopping mall in Samut Sakhon has issued a public apology following an incident in which a 2-year-old child was shocked by decorative lights, leading to the child being admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU). The incident, which occurred on 24 December, has sparked widespread concern, with the mall’s management clarifying their stance and actions. The incident was first reported by a well-known Facebook page, “Ee So Kha Yee Aek,” which stated that the child, aged 2 years and 6 months, was shocked while holding onto a railing adorned with festive lights. The child was subsequently rushed to the ICU. According to the post, the mall’s management initially stated that the lights were functioning properly and blamed the child for touching the lights. The post also claimed that the mall did not offer compensation beyond covering medical expenses, although they would not provide additional compensation for damages. In response, Central Mahachai Mall issued an official statement expressing deep regret over the accident. The mall clarified that the incident was a “force majeure” situation and that immediate action was taken to ensure the child received proper medical care. Upon the child’s arrival at the hospital, they were closely monitored, and the mall confirmed it had been in constant communication with medical staff throughout the child’s treatment. The statement further revealed that doctors diagnosed the child with mild swelling and redness at the fingertip, with no long-term effects anticipated. The decision to admit the child to the ICU was a precautionary measure to monitor the child’s condition for 24 hours, and the child was reported to be stable with no abnormal symptoms. The mall emphasised its commitment to safety and customer care, stating that it was fully dedicated to maintaining high safety standards. It also acknowledged the public’s concerns and vowed to consider any useful suggestions to improve service and build trust with its customers. 7. Picture from responders. A dramatic fire erupted at a tour bus parking lot on the western section of Kanchanapisek Road in Bangkok on December 25, destroying ten disused vehicles. Quick action by firefighters prevented further damage and spread out of the disused area, with no injuries or fatalities reported. Pol. Capt. Saneh Kanpawong from Bang Sao Thong Police Station received the emergency call regarding the fire at a bus parking lot owned by Siam Bus Company. The site, located near the outer ring road in Thawi Watthana District, contained numerous parked buses, including several no longer in service. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found six buses already engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading rapidly to neighbouring vehicles. The risk was heightened as the lot was adjacent to a second-hand car dealership. Firefighters worked swiftly, deploying water hose-lines to contain the blaze and prevent further escalation. After 40 minutes, the fire was brought under control. Preliminary inspections revealed that ten buses were extensively damaged. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or loss of life. Mr. Somkiat Srisomphot, 57, a bus driver who witnessed the incident, recounted the moment the fire broke out. “I was resting nearby when I noticed smoke rising from one of the buses parked at the back of the lot. Within moments, flames engulfed the vehicle and quickly spread to others parked nearby,” he said. Mr. Somkiat promptly alerted the authorities. He added that the buses involved were decommissioned vehicles, many of which had been left unused for years. “The buses had their doors locked, and the batteries were long past their operational lifespan. I have no idea how the fire started,” he explained. Police are currently questioning witnesses and the company’s owners while coordinating with forensic experts to investigate the cause of the fire. Authorities have assured the public that they will pursue appropriate legal action following the results of their investigation. -- 2024-12-26

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and provided resuscitation efforts, transporting the workers to the hospital. The incident occurred at a factory within a leather-tanning industrial estate located near kilometre marker 34 on Sukhumvit Road. Rescue teams found four male workers of Myanmar nationality unconscious inside the tank. They were quickly retrieved, given first aid, and transported to a nearby hospital. The woman, heavily intoxicated, was eventually detained after resisting hotel staff and attempting to flee the scene. The incident occurred around 03:00 near Soi 7, on Beach Road in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.
