In the early hours of November 25, rescue officials and police were called to a condominium in Soi Wat Boon Kanjanaram, Jomtien, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi, after a mother reported that her daughter had lost consciousness and appeared to have been drugged. Responding swiftly to the distress call at 04:15, rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation and Pattaya police arrived at the scene, fearing for the safety of the victims. Upon arrival, they joined the woman, identified as Ms. Maeow, in trying to get her daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend to open the door, but there was no response. Condominium staff were called to unlock the room, where authorities found a 28-year-old Filipino man, identified only as Mr. B, unconscious on the floor in just his shorts. In the bedroom, a 28-year-old Thai woman, identified as Ms. Bam, was also found unresponsive. Emergency responders administered first aid before rushing both individuals to the hospital. A search of the room revealed no signs of struggle or violence. However, officials discovered three cannabis-infused cookies shaped like astronauts, with one partially eaten, on the table. A similar snack wrapper was found in the trash. The cookies were collected as evidence. The mother of Ms. Bam stated that her daughter had called earlier, claiming she had been drugged. Concerned, she immediately sought assistance and accompanied authorities to the scene. She expressed disbelief that her daughter and her boyfriend would consume cannabis-laced cookies. Preliminary investigations suggest that the pair unknowingly consumed the cookies, resulting in intoxication and subsequent loss of consciousness. Authorities noted that Ms. Bam’s call for help likely prevented a worse outcome. Both individuals wil remain hospitalised as doctors monitor their conditions. Authorities plan to question them once they recover to determine the exact cause of the incident. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-25

A Chinese man was rescued early on November 24 after being trapped in a 10 metre deep well for three days in a forested area near Ban Wang Takhian Tai, Village 7, Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. Soldiers from the Rajamanu Task Force (Special Unit) under Infantry Company 433 responded to reports from local villagers who had heard faint cries for help coming from the forest over three consecutive days. Upon investigation, the team located the man at the bottom of the well. The Rajamanu Task Force worked alongside Mae Sot rescue services to safely extract the man. Found in a confused and incoherent state, he was suffering from severe dehydration, along with cuts and bruises from the fall. Fortunately, no fractures were detected. Unable to walk, he was carried out of the forest and transported to Mae Sot Hospital for further medical examination and treatment. Authorities believe the man, a Chinese national whose identity has not been disclosed, had been walking alone in the forest when he accidentally fell into the open well. With no reports of him being missing, the circumstances of his presence in the area remain unclear. The man recounted his harrowing ordeal to rescuers, explaining that he survived by consuming moisture within the well. His calls for help gradually weakened as his strength faded over the days. Villagers praised the swift and coordinated efforts of the task force and rescue teams, which ensured the man’s survival after his prolonged entrapment. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, seeking to understand the reasons behind the man’s presence in the remote area. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-25

A father and son narrowly escaped a tragic accident after their car burst into flames following an explosion in the engine compartment. The incident occurred at approximately 16:00 on November 24, at the Somdej Ya Intersection on Highway 36, inbound to Rayong city, in Thap Ma Subdistrict. Police Lieutenant Colonel Kongthap Preedet, deputy investigator of Rayong City Police Station, immediately dispatched fire trucks from the Thap Ma Municipality and rescue personnel from Sawang Porakun Foundation to the scene. Upon arrival, responders found a black Subaru engulfed in flames. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, though the vehicle was entirely destroyed, reduced to a charred skeleton. The interior, including seats and the dashboard, was completely incinerated. Fortunately, the driver and his son managed to escape the vehicle moments before explosion. The car’s owner, Mr. Jamnong, 53, recounted the terrifying experience. “I had just picked up my son from his tutoring session in Rayong and was driving home. We were only 500 metres from our house when I noticed thick white smoke pouring from the engine. I immediately pulled over and told my son to get out of the car. I quickly grabbed some personal belongings and important documents before exiting.” Mere seconds after they exited, an explosion erupted from the engine compartment, and flames rapidly engulfed the vehicle. Despite swift efforts by the fire brigade, the SUV was entirely consumed by the fire. The cause of the blaze remains unknown. Mr. Jamnong revealed that the vehicle had recently undergone extensive repairs, costing over 200,000 baht, and had only been back in use for a short time. Authorities have transported the vehicle to an investigative facility, where experts will conduct a detailed examination to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported, but the incident has left the family shaken and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vehicle safety and maintenance. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-25

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Manorom District, Chai Nat Province, as an 11-year-old girl with disabilities drowned in the Chai Nat-Pasak Canal on 23 November. Rescue teams searched for over 12 hours before suspending efforts. The incident occurred around 12:30, when Pol. Lt. Navin Boonkumkrong of Hang Nam Sakhon Police Station received a report of a missing person in the canal near Moo 3, Hang Nam Sakhon Subdistrict. The missing child was identified as Naparada Nakwan (known as Pan), who had an intellectual disability. Local rescue volunteers searched tirelessly with a team of over 10 divers but were unable to locate the body after seven hours. Central rescue teams joined the search later in the night, but the operation was halted at 01:35 on 24 November without success. The girl’s grandmother, Mrs. Bang-on Khamkham, 62, was inconsolable, weeping over the loss while awaiting the return of Pan’s parents from Bangkok. The family performed a ritual by lighting 16 incense sticks, pleading for the discovery of her body. Relatives believe the tragedy was fated, as it coincided with Pan’s birthday the day before and a Buddhist holy day. Mr. Amnuay Saraban, 65, Pan’s grandfather, explained that he was working on building an additional room next to their house when a neighbour alerted him to a child falling into the canal. He rushed out but couldn’t find her. Pan had been under the care of her 9-year-old sibling at the time. “If I had been watching her myself, I would never have let her out of my sight,” he lamented. Mrs. Bang-on revealed that she had gone out to pick chili peppers for extra income, leaving Pan at home. “Pan was a bright but disabled child. She couldn’t speak but understood everything we said. She never went near the water,” she sobbed. “Pan, come back to me! I love you more than anything else.” Neighbour Mrs. Sommai Ogas, 58, stated that Pan, who had autism, was not very strong physically. “No one saw her fall in, but when we heard the sound of the younger child calling we ran to the canal, but she was already submerged and gone.” Relatives noted several unique features about Pan, including birthmarks all over her body, and attributed her death to fate. “Yesterday was her 11th birthday, and today is a holy day,” her uncle remarked. “She never came near the water before, but something must have drawn her there this time. According to local beliefs, it was likely her time to go.” The family continues to hope for the recovery of Pan’s body, as they mourn the loss of a beloved child taken too soon. Man, 60, Commits Suicide After Shooting Two Women in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Authorities in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya are investigating a tragic chain of events in which a 60-year-old man shot two women, critically injuring them, before taking his own life in a rice field hours later. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1344478-man-60-commits-suicide-after-shooting-two-women-in-phra-nakhon-si-ayutthaya/ -
Authorities in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya are investigating a tragic chain of events in which a 60-year-old man shot two women, critically injuring them, before taking his own life in a rice field hours later. The incident began on the evening of November 23, when police from Phra Khao Police Station were alerted to a shooting along Wat Bang Pla Mo-Sena Road in Nam Tao Subdistrict, Bang Ban District. Emergency responders found two women, Mrs. Porntipha, 50, and Ms. Thanaporn, 33, lying injured by the roadside Mrs. Porntipha sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her back, while Ms. Thanaporn was shot in the head, lips, torso, and legs. Both women were rushed to Sena Hospital in critical condition. A motorcycle belonging to the victims was found overturned nearby. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Mr. Phairot, lured the women out for dinner. The victims rode together on a motorcycle, with Mrs. Porntipha driving and Ms. Thanaporn as a passenger, while Mr. Phairot followed them on his own motorcycle. As they traveled down a remote stretch of road, Mr. Phairot reportedly opened fire, causing their motorcycle to crash. Police believe he then approached the fallen victims and fired additional shots but fled the scene after the women feigned death. The attack is believed to have stemmed from Mr. Phairot's unreciprocated romantic feelings for Ms. Thanaporn. Following the death of his wife earlier this year. Mr. Phairot pursued Ms. Thanaporn and allegedly spent substantial sums of money on her. However, she repeatedly rejected his advances, which investigators believe fueled his anger and led to the premeditated attack. The following morning, on November 24, at around 10:30, police found Mr. Phairot's motorcycle abandoned in a field approximately three kilometres from the crime scene. A coordinated search led to the discovery of his body at 15:00, just 100 metres away from the motorcycle. Officials confirmed that Mr. Phairot had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. It is believed he succumbed to overwhelming stress following the attack. At Phra Khao Police Station, authorities interviewed Ms. Kotchakorn, 42, Mr. Phairot's stepdaughter. She revealed that her mother, Mr. Phairot's wife, had passed away on March 29, 2024. Following her death, Mr. Phairot began pursuing Ms. Thanaporn and even introduced her publicly as his partner. Ms. Kotchakorn added that Mr. Phairot had recently complained about financial struggles and expressed feelings of betrayal and humiliation. "He said he felt like he had lost everything and couldn't go on. I tried to calm him down, but this tragedy still happened," she said. Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting and are monitoring the condition of the two victims, who remain in critical care. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-25

Human Skeleton Found Scattered in Paddy Field, Police Investigating Authorities are investigating the discovery of a human skeleton found scattered in a paddy field in Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Authorities are investigating the discovery of a human skeleton found scattered in a paddy field in Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Police are determining whether the death resulted from natural causes or foul play. At 13:30 on 23 November, Pol. Lt. Chatchanon Sanitmak, an investigator at Khlong Khlung Police Station, was informed of the skeletal remains in Moo 7, Ban Nong Krathum, Hua Thanon Subdistrict. He, along with rescue officials, rushed to the scene where they found the skeleton scattered across a field. The remains, dried and devoid of flesh, included seven identifiable bones. A pair of black shorts, believed to belong to the deceased, and a wooden walking stick about one metre long were discovered nearby. The remains were first discovered by Mr. Jirasak Puangsang, 36, who had been hired by Ms. Sompong Jakkrung, 53, to plow the field for farming. He immediately informed the village chief and police after making the discovery. Mr. Jirasak described the moment he spotted the skeleton while driving a tractor around the field. “I noticed the bones in the field but there was no unusual smell. Nobody in the village is missing. When I first saw the bones, I was shocked. There was a dog nearby, likely drawn to the scent,” he recounted. Ms. Sompong, the field’s owner, stated that she had not visited the area for three months and had no knowledge of how the remains got there. “I’m willing to cooperate fully with the investigation,” she said. Pol. Col. Anek Jansorn, Deputy Commander of Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Police, led the investigation team to the site. They collected evidence and have not ruled out any possibilities, including murder. No missing person reports match the skeleton, so police are conducting DNA testing to identify the deceased. Authorities urge anyone with missing elderly relatives, particularly those last seen wearing black shorts and using a walking stick, to contact Khlong Khlung Police Station. A local resident, Mr. Suphot Pumin, 31, shared a possible lead. Around 2-3 months ago, he encountered an elderly man wearing a floral shirt and black shorts near the field. When questioned, the man claimed to be from Sa Kaeo village but later mentioned nearby Nong Krathum-Nong Mok villages. Suphot noted that the shorts matched those found with the remains and speculated that the man might have had mental health issues. Police are continuing their investigation and awaiting DNA results to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their death. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-25

Young Male Elephant Found Dead in Natural Canal in Chachoengsao For the second time in less than two weeks, the death of a young wild elephant has been reported in Chachoengsao Province. A 4-5-year-old male elephant was found dead, floating bloated in a natural canal overgrown with thick aquatic vegetation near the forest edge behind Nong Krating Village in Sanam Chai Khet District. For the second time in less than two weeks, the death of a young wild elephant has been reported in Chachoengsao Province. A 4-5-year-old male elephant was found dead, floating bloated in a natural canal overgrown with thick aquatic vegetation near the forest edge behind Nong Krating Village in Sanam Chai Khet District. Mr. Supatwee Kulsaree, President of the Tha Kradan Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO), coordinated with Captain Wasan Panthum, Commander of the 1306th Ranger Company, to inspect the site after receiving a report from local villagers. The area where the elephant was found is currently part of an effort to push back a herd of over 80 wild elephants that have been foraging in local farmland. At the scene, the forest elephant monitoring team of Tha Kradan SAO, led by Mr. Supatwee, worked alongside the village head of Moo 20 and integrated efforts with soldiers from the 1360th Ranger Company and the 1st Infantry Division, 111th Infantry Regiment. A drone equipped with a camera was deployed to monitor the large elephant herd and ensure safety. The deceased young elephant was discovered floating in a natural canal densely covered with aquatic plants near the forest edge behind Nong Krating Village in Moo 20, Tha Kradan Subdistrict. The discovery prompted local authorities to bring in heavy machinery, including a backhoe, under the direction of Village Chief Saroj Laisuwan, to manage the situation. Meanwhile, a veterinary team from the Wildlife Rescue Center Region 2 (Krabok Khu), located in Klong Takrao Subdistrict, Tha Takiap District, was dispatched to examine the elephant’s body. Initial investigations suggest the young elephant may have wandered away from its herd, become disoriented, and fallen into the thickly vegetated canal, where it drowned. The strong odor of decomposition led villagers to the site. Veterinary staff also retrieved the tusks from the elephant for further analysis. Given the bloated condition of the carcass and the natural cause of death, the remains were buried near the discovery site. Mr. Supatwee Kulsaree and Captain Wasan Panthum have announced plans to strengthen efforts to drive the herd of over 80 elephants back into the forest, aiming to protect villagers currently harvesting their rice crops. On the morning of November 24, police from Khlong Luang Police Station were alerted to a tragic scene at a university parking lot in Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Rangsit, Pathum Thani . The body of a 35-year-old IT worker, identified as Mr. Thanat, was discovered in his car, where he had been dead for approximately four days. The incident took place near Gymnasium 6 of the university. Authorities found Mr. Thanat in the driver’s seat of a bronze Mitsubishi Mirage, with a camping stove containing burnt charcoal on the floor behind the passenger seat. A preliminary medical examination confirmed he had died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Mr. Thanat’s stepfather, Mr. Amarin, 49, stated that the family had been searching for him since Wednesday night. The deceased, who worked in the server room at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), often visited the university for weekly exercise. After failing to locate him, the family filed a missing person report with the Thanyaburi Police Station the previous day. His mother, Mrs. Daranee, 53, revealed that her son had been under considerable stress due to work-related issues. He was assigned tasks he didn’t know how to complete and received little support. Despite her suggestion to resign, Mr. Thanat insisted on enduring the situation until the end of the year to fulfill financial responsibilities, including paying off his car and house. His mother added that she was unable to work due to ongoing health problems. Police Lieutenant Colonel Uthai Thongsaroy, Deputy Chief Investigator, documented the scene and ordered the transport of the body to Thammasat University Hospital for further examination. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the death but suspect it was a case of suicide driven by work-related stress. If you or anyone you know is in emotional distress, please contact the Samaritans of Thailand 24-hour hotline: 02 713 6791 (English), 02 713 6793 (Thai) or the Thai Mental Health Hotline at 1323 (Thai). The first raid targeted a makeshift shelter along the railway road in Soi Rong Po, Moo 1, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Police apprehended three suspects, two men and one woman, caught in the act of using methamphetamine and crystal meth. Drug paraphernalia was seized at the scene; however, the narcotics had already been consumed moments before the police arrived. In a separate operation, police arrested two Myanmar nationals in a secluded alley in the Rong Po area. The individuals were acting suspiciously, prompting an inquiry that revealed they were illegal immigrants who had entered Thailand to seek work unlawfully. The five suspects are facing legal consequences: the three Thai nationals have been charged with drug use, while the two Myanmar nationals are being processed for illegal entry and will be deported. These operations are part of an ongoing crackdown on crime in the region, aligning with national policies aimed at preventing criminal activity. The increased vigilance is particularly significant ahead of Pattaya’s International Fireworks Festival, as authorities aim to ensure the safety of tourists and residents. By addressing potential threats proactively, law enforcement hopes to maintain public order and prevent crimes during the festive season. Picture of raid. -- 2024-11-25
