  2. Police in Pak Phli, Nakhon Nayok, apprehended a 53-year-old man after he caused a public disturbance while walking naked and throwing stones at his neighbours. The incident occurred after the man reportedly consumed alcohol and cannabis, leading to erratic behaviour following several days without sleep. At approximately 12:30 on November 21, officers from Pak Phli Police Station responded to reports of a man walking unclothed in Moo 5, Nong Saeng subdistrict. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, identified as Mr. Anusak, wandering naked through residential areas. Police engaged him in conversation to de-escalate the situation. Eventually, the man emerged from behind a house and was taken into custody after minor resistance. No injuries were reported. A neighbour, identified as “Aunt Ta”, recounted the events leading up to the incident. She said Mr. Anusak had earlier entered a local temple, climbed into her parked car, and honked the horn repeatedly before pouring water over himself. When questioned about his actions, he reportedly said he was hot and needed to cool down. After leaving the temple, his pants fell off, but he did not attempt to put them back on. He continued walking naked into a friend’s house, where he began throwing objects, including stones. The house reportedly belonged to a drinking companion, but the motive for his aggression remains unclear. Neighbours described Mr. Anusak as a habitual drinker who also consumed cannabis this time, likely exacerbating his behaviour. They noted that while under the influence, he often acted out of character. However, when sober, Mr. Anusak was regarded as a generous and friendly individual who often shared what he had with others. The police have detained Mr. Anusak at Pak Phli Police Station to allow him to calm down. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-22

  4. A fire engulfed a major fan manufacturing factory in Samut Sakhon early morning on November 22, causing extensive damage, burning for over five hours and with losses estimated at between 50 and 100 million baht. The blaze broke out at Thai Wire Mesh Industry Co., Ltd. and TKT Electric Co., Ltd., which share the same premises in Nadee Subdistrict, Muang District. The companies produce fans under the “T.K.T” brand and are owned by the same operator. Emergency services were alerted at approximately 01:00 in the morning. Responding to the scene were police officers led by Pol. Lt. Col. Sukhum Paothaisong, Deputy Superintendent of Muang Samut Sakhon Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Wichit Lunpa, an investigator, along with district officials and 20 fire trucks from Samut Sakhon and neighbouring provinces. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered intense flames that rapidly consumed the facility. The fire, deemed one of the largest in the province for some time, took over five hours to control. Despite these efforts, residual hot spots required continued dousing. Preliminary assessments reveal nearly total destruction of the factory, including three delivery trucks used for product transportation. Mr. Komsan Chaowjirapan, the 70-year-old factory owner, recounted that the fire began shortly after workers finished their shifts around midnight. A security guard on duty heard a noise resembling an explosion near the security booth and discovered sparks from a short-circuiting power line. Despite using several fire extinguishers, the guard was unable to control the flames, which quickly spread through the factory. The building, which housed plastic pellets and other highly combustible materials for fan production, was engulfed in flames before firefighters could arrive. “The fire destroyed almost everything. Although we had insurance, it cannot compensate for the 30 years of hard work my family and I put into building this factory,” said Mr. Komsan. Initial damage estimates are between 50 and 100 million baht, though the exact figure remains undetermined. Lt. Pranphan Tueksakul, District Chief of Muang Samut Sakhon, confirmed that structural engineers would assess the building’s stability before further investigation. Forensic experts and related authorities will examine the site to determine the fire’s precise cause, ensuring proper documentation for legal proceedings. The fire. marks a significant loss for the local business community. Authorities are urging safety inspections at similar facilities to prevent future incidents. Police Lieutenant Wirayut Suwannsri, a deputy investigator at Kaset Wisai Police Station, responded to the scene along with medical personnel from Kaset Wisai Hospital and the Asoka Rescue Unit. 8. The Department of Legal Execution on November 21, provided clarification on a chemical leak from an abandoned factory operated by Nirun (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which had ceased operations over a decade ago. The incident, involving chemicals seeping into water sources, has sparked outrage among local residents in Ban Khai district, Rayong. The factory, previously engaged in citric acid production, was placed under a bankruptcy ruling by the Central Bankruptcy Court on October 26, 2022. All assets, including land, buildings, and machinery, are currently under the control of a court-appointed asset custodian. However, attempts to auction these assets have been delayed due to creditor disputes, with a key hearing scheduled for November 26. Residents have long expressed concerns over chemical residues on-site. Initial investigations revealed stored chemicals in deteriorating plastic bags exposed to weather conditions, raising potential health and environmental risks. In response, the Department coordinated with local authorities to relocate these materials to a secure location. A recent spill reportedly occurred after individuals unlawfully entered the factory, dismantling machinery and structures. This damage led to chemical leaks, particularly from gypsum residues, contaminating the factory grounds. The Department has taken initial measures, such as using sandbags to contain the leaks, while collaborating with the Pollution Control Department to assess contamination levels. Samples collected on November 18 are under laboratory analysis, with results expected within 3 weeks. The Department is expediting efforts to resolve the issue. This includes: 1. Conducting a full inventory of remaining chemicals. 2. Selecting certified waste disposal firms to remove and treat hazardous materials. 3. Strengthening security to prevent further trespassing. Additionally, creditors and stakeholders, including the Rojana Industrial Park, are being consulted to determine comprehensive cleanup strategies and costs. The next creditor meeting is scheduled for December 25. Penrawee Masang, spokesperson for the Department of Legal Execution, emphasised that the Department is fully committed to mitigating the situation. “Despite legal complexities, we are collaborating with relevant agencies to resolve the issue and minimise the impact on the community and environment,” she stated.
