A violent altercation broke out in front of the Pattaya City Police Station in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi, when a motorcycle taxi driver clashed with his passenger, drawing the attention of numerous tourists in the area. The incident escalated dramatically when the driver, identified as Mr. Chaisan 36, allegedly pulled out a weapon resembling a short knife and stabbed the passenger, a Myanmar national, in the left side of his torso near the underarm. 7. A 17-year-old boy was severely injured after falling into the machinery of a rice combine harvester while working in the fields. Rescuers managed to free him using hydraulic tools before rushing him to the hospital. The incident occurred at approximately 21:00 on November 19 in Nong Sa Subdistrict, Thap Than District, Uthai Thani Province. The teenager’s foot became trapped in the harvester’s threshing mechanism, causing severe injuries. The operation took around 30 minutes. The rescuers then carefully lowered the boy, who was trapped on the nearly 4 metre high harvester, using ropes on a stretcher. Emergency medical responders from Thap Than Hospital provided first aid on site before transporting the boy to the hospital for further treatment. A friend of the injured teen, also 17, explained that they were hired to work in the rice fields, with one operating the harvester and the injured boy assisting by managing the rice flow on the machine. The incident happened while the victim was trying to adjust the grain pile, which was uneven and preventing rice from feeding into the thresher properly. As he worked, the teen slipped and fell into the thresher. His foot was caught in the spinning blades, causing deep lacerations and leaving him unable to free himself. Rescuers had to cut through the machine to release him, an effort that ultimately saved his life. 15. A shocking incident at an apartment building on Sukha Prachasasan 2 Road, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi, left the landlord, an elderly woman, devastated. A tenant, who had accumulated unpaid rent of 18,000 baht over nine months, fled the premises, leaving behind a mountain of trash and an unbearable stench. The fourth-floor room in the four-story apartment building was found filled with garbage piled up to 1.5 metres high. The refuse included food containers, snack wrappers, soda cans, and liquor bottles stuffed into bags and scattered throughout the room, balcony, and bathroom. In a bizarre discovery, bottles filled with urine were found stacked and mixed in with the garbage. An old, filthy birdcage further contributed to the overwhelming odour. The tenant, a man in his 30s, had been renting the room for about two years. Six months ago, a neighboring tenant complained of a foul smell emanating from the room. When the landlord initially inspected the room, she discovered piles of trash, as the door had been left unlocked. Confronted about the mess, the tenant claimed he was cleaning and would gradually dispose of the garbage. Despite repeated assurances, the problem persisted, and the stench worsened. The tenant eventually disappeared just before the Loy Krathong festival, leaving the landlord with no choice but to unlock the room for inspection. What she found was even worse than before. The landlord admitted the sight of the room nearly caused her to faint. In addition to the trash, the tenant’s unpaid rent left her in financial strain. Authorities have been informed of the incident, but the tenant remains uncontactable. The landlord is now left to deal with the overwhelming cleanup and financial losses caused by the irresponsible tenant. Picture of room from landlord. -- 2024-11-20

  17. A 41-year-old crane operator was found dead in the cab, approximately 25 metres above the ground at a construction site in Bang Sai District, Ayutthaya. The discovery was made after coworkers noticed he hadn’t come down for lunch or dinner. The incident occurred on the evening of November 19. Police Lieutenant Saknarit Rattanaphan from the Bang Sai Police Station was alerted to the scene, along with emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation. At the site, a crane stood within a warehouse construction project in Khok Chang Subdistrict. The lifeless body of the crane operator, identified as Mr. Suriya Makoon, was found inside the control cab. He was dressed in a red t-shirt, with for some reason, his pants lowered to his knees. Coworkers reported that Mr. Suriya had climbed the crane early in the morning to begin his shift. However, when the work was completed by afternoon, he failed to descend. Concerned, they climbed up to check on him and discovered his lifeless body, prompting an immediate call to authorities. Mr. Suriya’s wife, Ms. Nanthnaphas, also 41, shared that her husband commuted from their home in Bangkok’s Rama IX area to work at the site. She stated that he had no known underlying health conditions but had recently been in a motorcycle accident on a slippery road, which caused minor injuries to his chest and head. He had been wearing a helmet at the time. Retrieving the body posed significant challenges due to the height of the crane. Rescue teams from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation used specialised rope (line) rescue equipment to lower the body safely in a stretcher. Preliminary investigations showed no signs of foul play or physical assault. The body has been sent to the Ministry of Justice’s Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. 19. Three construction workers were injured in an explosion at their accommodation near a site where a large Guan Yin statue is being built in Thepha District, in Songkhla early morning on 20 November. The incident occurred at 06:00 at the workers’ quarters in Ban Pak Bang Sakom, Moo 1, Sakom Subdistrict, according to a report from the local Territorial Defense Volunteers. Preliminary investigations revealed two explosions, believed to have been caused by an M79 grenade launcher fired from a distance. Shrapnel fragments found at the scene support this theory. The attack caused injuries to three individuals, all of whom sustained wounds across their bodies. A pickup truck parked nearby was also damaged. Emergency responders and law enforcement officers arrived at the scene to provide assistance and secure the area. Adding to the chaos, the explosions triggered a fire that engulfed the workers’ accommodation. Plumes of smoke were visible as firefighters from the Sakom Subdistrict Administrative Organisation worked to extinguish the flames. The site, currently under development by a private company, is part of a larger project involving the construction of a large Guan Yin statue. The project is linked to the same company behind the controversial Chana Industrial Estate development, which was suspended following local protests and subsequent SEA (Strategic Environmental Assessment) studies. Authorities are now investigating the incident. Efforts are underway to review CCTV footage and gather intelligence on potential suspects in the area. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and officials are treating the case as a priority. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-20 ScreenRecording_11-20-2024 10-26-37_1.mp4
