A local resident was left in shock after discovering a massive black king cobra, over two metres long, hidding in their parked car. The incident, which took place near Tham Pha Pu Temple in Ban Nam Phu, Loei Province, quickly drew the attention of police and rescue volunteers. However, the snake’s capture ultimately required the expertise of a nearby monk, renowned for his skill with reptiles, who fearlessly seized the snake barehanded. The unexpected encounter occurred on October 25 when the homeowner noticed the cobra slithering into the engine compartment of their car. Concerned for their safety, they contacted the Muang Loei Police Station, which then coordinated with the Loei Rescue Foundation, a team experienced in handling reptiles, to assist with the situation. Upon arriving at the scene, rescue teams, police officers, and a monk from Wat Sri Aphaiwan examined the car and found the large black cobra coiled tightly around the engine. Assessing the situation, the monk, who has trained in handling snakes, courageously took charge. With a firm grasp, he secured the snake by its neck with his bare hands and safely placed it into a sack for relocation. The cobra was transported away from the residential area and released into a forest far from the local community, much to the homeowner’s relief. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-26

Family in Satun Awaits Confirmation of Missing Woman, After Unidentified Body Found The family of a 37-year-old woman with a mental health condition who went missing a week ago, is anxiously awaiting confirmation regarding a body recently found in a mangrove forest in Satun. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1341738-family-in-satun-awaits-confirmation-of-missing-woman-after-unidentified-body-found/ -
The family of Jindaporn Rodboon, a 37-year-old woman with a mental health condition who went missing a week ago, is anxiously awaiting confirmation regarding a body recently found in a mangrove forest in Satun. Despite holding out hope, Jindaporn’s mother expressed mixed emotions, fearing it may be her daughter. Jindaporn, a resident of Satun’s Khlong Khut subdistrict, was last seen on October 19 when she left home without her phone. Witnesses, including locals and monks, reported seeing her near a temple in a secluded area the previous evening, giving the family hope that she may still be alive. However, further clues of the whereabouts were elusive, prompting an extensive search effort led by Satun Police. On October 25, after several days of coordinated searching, Police Colonel Seksit Prakot, along with multiple police and search teams, expanded the search radius to five kilometres around the forested area. They issued a call for information from local communities, advising anyone with potential leads to contact emergency services immediately. That same day, a local resident, Dan Hitdee, reported discovering an unidentified body while harvesting palm leaves in Kuan Khan. The remains, wearing black sweatpants, had facial features too deteriorated for clear identification. Initial observations suggested a resemblance to the missing woman, but further examination is required. Jindaporn’s family arrived on-site, filled with a mix of dread and hope. Her mother, while trying to remain optimistic, admitted the body’s clothing and build closely matched her daughter’s description. Authorities have requested a forensic examination to confirm the identity. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-26

Motorcycle Crash Claims Life in Gruesome Truck Collision: Prachin Buri A man was killed instantly after his motorcycle collided with an 18-wheeler truck in Kabin Buri, Prachin Buri Province Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1341737-motorcycle-crash-claims-life-in-gruesome-truck-collision-prachin-buri/ -
A man was killed instantly during the morning of October 25, after his motorcycle collided with an 18-wheeler truck in Kabin Buri, Prachin Buri Province. The incident occurred at approximately 06:30 on Highway 304, near Village 5, Muang Kao subdistrict. Police Lieutenant Colonel Nattiruj Wongsap, an investigator from Kabin Buri Police Station, was alerted by the Sajja Phutthatham Foundation to the crash, which resulted in the death of an unidentified man, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the lifeless body lying on his front, in the left lane of the road. The victim had severe injuries, including a shattered skull, broken limbs, and his internal organs mostly exposed. Approximately five metres away from the body, authorities discovered a black Honda Wave motorcycle with no license plate, its front wheel bent and fender broken. The headlight had detached in the collision. Further down the road, about 150 metres from the crash site, a blue 18-wheeler truck, registered in Bangkok, was parked in the left lane. Investigators found pieces of the victim's body still stuck to the left wheel well of the trailer. The truck driver, Mr. Panya (surname withheld), 31, told police that he was en route from Laem Chabang to the Kabin Buri Industrial Estate. As he approached the crash site, he noticed the motorcycle attempting to overtake on a curve before losing control due to a patch of sand on the road. The motorbike skidded and slid directly into his truck. Mr. Panya stated that there was no direct collision with the motorbike but confirmed that the bike slid under the truck. Upon inspecting the road, police found sand near the edge, which likely caused the victim to lose control of his motorcycle before sliding into the path of the truck. The victim's body was retrieved by rescue personnel and transported to Kabin Buri Hospital. Authorities are now working to locate the man's relatives. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to piece together the details of the crash. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-26

UPDATE Captured! Thief Steals Gold, Claims He Needed Bail Money for Previous Case Police in Chanthaburi have arrested a man for robbing a gold shop in a major department store. The suspect claimed he committed the crime to fund his bail for a separate case involving a chainsaw offense, which required him to appear in court the same day. Police teams, led by Deputy Provincial Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Taratep Tuphanich, detained 30-year-old Akkarachai (last name withheld), early this morning at his residence in Tha Mai district. Officers found him asleep when they arrived, served the warrant, and took him into custody. During questioning, the suspect confessed to the robbery, explaining he needed the money to cover living expenses and set aside funds for bail in his chainsaw case. He expressed a reluctance to attend court, citing concerns about leaving his young child without care, which he claimed motivated his decision to commit the robbery. Following the heist, the suspect abandoned his vehicle near Khao Maikaew Monastery in Makham district and hid in an old house in an orchard. Authorities recovered 20,600 baht in cash from the suspect, believed to be what remained after using a portion to repay debts and purchase food and beverages. At 14.00 on October 25, police escorted the suspect back to the crime scene to re-enact the incident. The suspect also provided further details on his prior thefts, which remain under investigation. Authorities are considering additional charges. However, it remains unclear if he is living with his wife or if the child mentioned is indeed in his care. -- 2024-10-25 RPReplay_Final1729852622.mp4

A massive fire broke out early morning October 25, at a warehouse complex in Ban Ko, Samut Sakhon, causing extensive damage to four storage facilities and resulting in losses worth millions of baht. The fire started around 06:00 and authorities dispatched over multiple fire trucks from nearby municipalities to combat the blaze. The fire engulfed four warehouses that were rented out for storage, with firefighters battling the flames for approximately two hours before gaining control. Thick black smoke and bright flames were visible from a distance as the fire raged through the buildings. Initial investigations revealed that the warehouses stored a variety of goods, including plastic products, food items, and raw materials. The fire reportedly started in the innermost warehouse, which belonged to a hardware company, and quickly spread to neighbouring storage units. One of the warehouses contained boxes and rolls of plastic, valued at over 10 million baht, all of which were destroyed. Local authorities, led by Mr. Chatree Pho-ob, Mayor of Bang Pla, worked alongside district officials and provincial disaster prevention teams to manage the situation. The fire destroyed a large portion of the 70-rai area site, which housed the rented storage facilities. Firefighters successfully contained the fire but are monitoring the site for potential flare-ups. Precautionary measures are in place, including cordoning off hazardous areas where parts of the buildings have collapsed. Local authorities are investigating the death of a 32-year-old man after his body was discovered next to an abandoned motorcycle in a remote area in Chalerm Phra Kiat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The body was found near a gravel road along an irrigation canal in Moo 3, Don Tro subdistrict. Pol. Lt. Col. Peerapong Yodsuran, Deputy Chief Investigator of Chalerm Phra Kiat Police Station, responded to the scene, accompanied by a team of detectives, a forensic doctor, and rescue personnel from the Pracha Ruam Jai Foundation. Upon arrival, officers found a motorcycle without license plates. A backpack was neatly hung on the front of the bike. Nearby, the body of the deceased, later identified as Mr. Santichai, a local resident of Chalerm Phra Kiat, lay lifeless. He had been dead for at least 12 hours, with a single gunshot wound to his right temple, likely inflicted at close range by an unknown caliber firearm. Investigators found no signs of a struggle or suspicious evidence at the scene. According to local residents, the motorcycle had been noticed hours earlier by a passersby. The area is an isolated stretch of road, with no houses within 500 metres. By the afternoon, the motorcycle remained in the same spot, prompting someone to investigate, which led to the grim discovery of the body and the subsequent call to the authorities. Preliminary police assumptions suggest the incident may have occurred during the night. The victim is believed to have parked his motorcycle at the location to meet someone. It is suspected that an argument ensued, culminating in the other party shooting the victim and fleeing the scene without leaving any witnesses. Authorities are now urgently gathering information from the victim’s family to trace the perpetrator, with investigations ongoing. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-25

A gold robbery took place on the morning of October 24, at the Lotus Mall in Chanthaburi, where a male suspect escaped with a 1-baht gold ring from the Yaowarat gold shop located inside the shopping complex. The suspect, described as a man in his early 30s, was wearing a yellow short-sleeved shirt, had dark red-brown skin, and a tall, stocky build. He sported a high-cut hairstyle and was concealing his face with a mask. The man initially posed as a customer and requested to see gold necklaces and rings. After asking to purchase a gold ring weighing 1 baht, the sales clerk presented him with the item. He then asked to see another design, and when the employee turned away to retrieve it, the suspect seized the opportunity. Taking advantage of the relatively quiet period in the store, the suspect quickly grabbed the 1-baht gold ring and fled the scene, running towards a red Suzuki Swift car with license plate from Chonburi. He was seen heading towards Tha Mai District in Chanthaburi. The CCTV images of his escape also shows that the car appeared to have a child onboard. Local police launched a manhunt, set up checkpoints and were in pursuit of the suspect. Crime scene investigators arrived at the mall to gather evidence and expand their investigation. Later on the afternoon of October 24, a concerned citizen reported a suspicious vehicle believed to have been used in the heist. A jeweller, driven by rage, stabbed his wife five times following a heated argument in Nonthaburi. The incident occurred on October 24, when Mr. Kareem, aged 65, a gem cutter and trader, fatally attacked his 54 year old wife, Ms. Renu, in their apartment. He later surrendered to the authorities at the scene. According to Lt. Col. Khotsasit Kotano, Deputy Investigator of Rattanathibet Police Station, officers were alerted to the murder at a seven-story apartment in Soi Ngamwongwan 31, Bangkhen, Nonthaburi. At the scene, the victim was found lying near the bedroom door in their fifth-floor apartment, with five stab wounds in her chest. A 10 inch kitchen knife was discovered near her body, with two additional knives placed by the apartment's entrance. Kareem, who was waiting for police on the ground floor, confessed to the crime. He admitted that ongoing conflicts between him and his wife had escalated over time. He accused her of cheating him out of money from their gem business and suspected her of having an affair with another man. On the day of the murder, the couple had a heated argument in front of their youngest daughter, during which Renu mocked Kareem, calling him "stupid" for staying with her. After their daughter left the apartment, Kareem, filled with resentment, retrieved the knife he had prepared earlier and stabbed his wife multiple times. The couple had been living together for 40 years but had not legally registered their marriage. Both were involved in the gem cutting business, with Kareem accusing his wife of withholding profits after selling the gems they polished. The conflict had previously escalated when Kareem attempted to attack Renu with a screwdriver, but she had begged for her life at that time. Police have charged Kareem with premeditated murder. He has been taken into custody for further questioning and will be prosecuted according to the law. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-25

Man Commits Unusual Suicide Using Brick to Weigh Down Neck in Large Water Jar A 49-year-old man was found dead in a bizarre suicide at his home in the village of Ta Chong, Lahan Sai District, Buriram Province. A 49-year-old man, identified as Mr. Rachan (surname withheld), was found dead in a bizarre suicide at his home in the village of Ta Chong, Lahan Sai District, Buriram Province. Authorities were alerted to the scene by the village headman, and officers from the Chalerm Phrakiat Police Station, along with rescue personnel, arrived to investigate. The man's lifeless body was discovered on October 24, kneeling with his head submerged in a large water jar next to his house. Rescue workers were shocked to find that Mr. Rachan had tied a traditional pha khao ma (a local cloth) around his neck, using a brick as a weight to ensure his head stayed underwater. His body was carefully removed from the scene for examination. Village headman Anon Detwaree revealed that Mr. Rachan lived alone and suffered from multiple chronic illnesses. It is believed that his prolonged struggle with illness, combined with the loneliness of living by himself, drove him to take his own life. The unusual method, involving the brick, may have been chosen to ensure his attempt would be fatal, fearing that merely submerging his head in the water would not be suffice. The case is under further investigation by the police, but no foul play is suspected.
