Pictures courtesy of Khoasod. Police have arrested a transgender and her boyfriend for the brutal murder of her younger brother, whose body was buried in a forest for over three months. The suspects have confessed, revealing that the fatal attack stemmed from a dispute over a motorcycle wheel. The crime took place in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, with officers from Nakhon Ratchasima City Police Station making the arrests in the early hours of 25 March. The suspects later led investigators to the burial site, a wooded area in Isan Khiew, behind a shopping centre in Nong Bua Sala Subdistrict. The victim was identified as Mr. Jakrin aged 28, the younger brother of one of the suspects, Mr. Natthawut aged 36, a transgender. Police allege that Natthawut and her boyfriend conspired to shoot Jakrin dead before burying his body. At 10:00 on 26 March, officers escorted the suspects to the location where the victim’s body had been buried. Forensic police, along with rescue volunteers from the Sawang Metta Nakhon Ratchasima Foundation, assisted in the recovery operation. Jakrin had reportedly gone missing in mid-December 2024, leaving his family in distress. Relatives were shocked to learn that his own sibling was involved in his disappearance and murder. Family members revealed that the fatal altercation began over a motorcycle wheel, which Jakrin wanted back. The dispute escalated into a violent confrontation in front of the suspects’ home, where Jakrin was shot twice and left to die. Mr. Apichat 27, a relative of the victim, recalled that Jakrin left their shared residence on 12 December 2024 after receiving a call from someone interested in purchasing a motorcycle wheel for 500 baht. It was later discovered that this was a ruse orchestrated by the suspects to lure him out. Jakrin set out on his motorbike, accompanied by his young nephew, who rode separately. Upon arrival at the meeting point, the suspects took the nephew’s motorbike and forced Jakrin to follow them home. It was there that the dispute turned deadly, culminating in two fatal gunshots. The terrified nephew rushed back to inform the family, but Jakrin was never seen again. On 15 December, concerned relatives reported his disappearance to Nakhon Ratchasima Police, but the case made little progress. Frustrated by the lack of police action, the family sought help from the Mirror Foundation, a well-known missing persons organisation. Their investigation led to the discovery that Natthawut and boyfriend had fled to Pathum Thani Province. Authorities eventually tracked them down and placed them under arrest. The suspects later admitted to the killing and directed police to the burial site, where forensic teams are working to recover the remains. -- 2025-03-27

Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A construction foreman was killed when a concrete wall, which was being demolished, unexpectedly collapsed in the wrong direction, crushing him beneath the rubble. The incident occurred at around 09:30 on 26 March, in Soi Song Phi Nong, near a well-known shopping centre in Samrong Nuea, Mueang Samut Prakan district. Police from Samrong Nuea Police Station, along with rescue workers, responded to the scene following reports of a fatal incident at a demolition site. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of a male construction worker trapped under debris from the fallen concrete wall. The structure had collapsed onto his head and torso, leaving him with fatal injuries. The area was immediately cordoned off while investigators collected evidence and documented the scene. The collapsed wall was part of a market fence being demolished to prepare the ground for redevelopment. Footage from a nearby CCTV camera captured the moment of the incident at 09:17. Locals reported hearing a loud crash and rushed to the scene. Video clips taken by witnesses showed the victim trapped under the rubble. Despite efforts to free him, he had already succumbed to his injuries. According to Mr. Decha, a contractor who arrived after the collapse, the deceased was Mr. Chatchai 43, the foreman overseeing the demolition. He had been working with three migrant labourers at the site. Ms. Wanwisa, a co-worker of the deceased, recounted the moment: “There were four of us working. The wall was supposed to fall in the opposite direction, but something went wrong, and it came down on his side. The other three managed to jump out of the way in time, but he wasn’t able to escape. Yesterday, we were demolishing it as usual, and nothing happened. It must have been a miscalculation.” Police have taken the three surviving workers in for questioning at Samrong Nuea Police Station as part of their investigation into the cause of the incident. Authorities are expected to determine whether negligence played a role. -- 2025-03-27

Picture courtesy of SiamChon. Rescue workers in Pattaya faced a frustrating ordeal when a heavily intoxicated American tourist was found lying in the middle of a road, refusing assistance and insisting he was simply trying to sleep. The incident occurred at 23:35 on March 25, when the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre received a call from concerned locals reporting a foreign man asleep on Second Road in Jomtien, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Upon arrival, rescue personnel found the tourist, who identified himself only as an American, refusing to give his name, lying intoxicated on the road. Good Samaritans and other tourists had already moved him to the roadside before the rescue team arrived. However, when approached, the man became agitated and told responders, “Why is everyone here? Leave me alone, I just want to sleep,” before lying down again at the entrance to a hotel, ignoring the attention of passersby. He also complained about the noise of passing traffic disturbing him, causing further concern that he might be at risk. Rescue workers attempted to persuade the man to move for more than 30 minutes, but he remained adamant about staying put. Eventually, they informed him that police would be called to take him away. At this point, the tourist suddenly regained his composure, stood up, and walked off as if nothing had happened. Worried for his safety, bystanders and rescue workers followed him until he disappeared from sight, believing he had safely returned to his accommodation. A hotel security guard, later stated that he had seen the tourist staggering towards the hotel’s gate earlier in the evening but had not thought much of it, assuming he was just another intoxicated guest. However, when he noticed a crowd gathering on the roadside, he decided to investigate and later assisted in calling the rescue services. -- 2025-03-26

Picture from responders. A lorry driver was killed after his vehicle is believed to have suffered brake failure, crashed into high-voltage power poles, and burst into flames in Phra Phutthabat district, Saraburi. The accident occurred at approximately 12:30 on 25 March, at the Teen Non intersection on the Phra Lan–Ban Khrua Road, Moo 8, Huai Pa Wai subdistrict. Pol. Lt. Saman Phuwiphak, an investigator from Phra Phutthabat Police Station, was alerted to the incident and notified his superior, Pol. Col. Weerawut Damsuwan. Firefighters from Huai Pa Wai Municipality and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. On be arrival, emergency responders found a Mitsubishi lorry engulfed in flames. The vehicle was severely damaged after colliding with four high-voltage power poles, causing them to topple. The driver, identified as 59-year-old Mr. Suthep, from Dan Khun Thot, Nakhon Ratchasima, was trapped inside the cab and perished in the fire. Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately 20 minutes before bringing it under control. The fallen power poles blocked the road, forcing police to redirect traffic onto alternative routes. Rescue workers used cutting equipment to retrieve the victim’s burnt body, which was trapped under the collapsed power lines. Mr. Somphong, a 62-year-old noodle vendor near the scene, described the moment of impact. “I saw the lorry driving in the left lane alongside another lorry. As they approached a red light with several vehicles waiting, the lorry suddenly swerved left and crashed into the power poles. Within moments, there was an explosion, and flames erupted. I believe its brakes failed,” he recounted. Ms. Yeen, the 25-year-old niece of the deceased driver, stated that her uncle had been a lorry driver for over 20 years and had no known health conditions. He had been transporting stone from a quarry in Phra Lan subdistrict, Chalerm Phra Kiat district, to a concrete plant and was driving alone at the time of the crash. Pol. Lt. Picture courtesy of CH3 An incident unfolded in Nakhon Si Thammarat on March 25, when a 25-year-old man, identified as Donusorn, brutally killed his father with an axe during a heated argument at their home in the village of Kanabnak, Pak Phanang District. At approximately 12:00, authorities were alerted to a distressing scene at the family home, where they discovered the lifeless body of 47-year-old Saisan. The victim was found face down, surrounded by blood, with severe head and facial injuries. Donusorn, the only son of the deceased, was apprehended by police at the scene, where he was found holding the weapon used in the attack. The initial investigation revealed that Donusorn had been drinking alcohol with friends the previous night until nearly dawn. Upon returning home, he engaged in a violent argument with his father. In a fit of rage, Donusorn struck his father on the head with the axe, killing him instantly. Afterwards, Donusorn appeared to have a moment of remorse. He reportedly left the house and confided in a neighbour, admitting to the murder. The neighbour subsequently alerted local authorities and the body was soon discovered by police. Donusorn, who has a known history of drug involvement, initially gave contradictory statements to investigators but eventually explained that his outburst stemmed from the frequent arguments he had with his father. He confessed to feeling intense anger and, in his drunken state, lashed out, resulting in his father’s death. In a deeply remorseful statement, Donusorn expressed his regret, stating, “I am truly sorry for what I did. I hope in the next life we can be father and son again. I promise to be a better son.” Following the incident, police conducted a urine test on Donusorn, which revealed traces of drugs, leading to further charges for substance abuse in addition to the murder of his father. As investigations continue, authorities are working to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding the altercation. -- 2025-03-26

Picture from responders. A decomposed body was discovered near a canal embankment in Samut Prakan after workers spotted a monitor lizard carrying a body part and running into the water. Authorities estimate that the man had been dead for one to two weeks. A lottery ticket was found in his possession. On 25 March, officers from Mueang Samut Prakan Police Station were alerted to the presence of a bloated corpse in a wooded area near the Klong Chonprathan irrigation canal, close to the Kiti Nakhon Samut Prakan housing estate in Tai Ban Mai Subdistrict. Upon receiving the report, police coordinated with investigative teams and the Ruam Kusol Foundation rescue unit to inspect the scene. At the embankment, authorities found the deceased, later identified as 62-year-old Mr Saipan, lying on his back in an advanced state of decomposition. His body showed signs of scavenging by animals, with bite marks on his face and right leg. Nearby, a makeshift shelter was found, along with two women’s shoulder bags. A search of his belongings revealed a lottery ticket with the number 523125 from the draw dated 1 November 2024. Initial investigations indicated that the deceased was a homeless man who had been living along the canal embankment. Local residents knew him as “Uncle Ngok” and frequently provided him with food and water. He was described as harmless and mentally unstable but never aggressive towards others. Mrs Supaporn, a municipal worker from Bang Pu Subdistrict, recounted how she and two colleagues were spraying herbicide in the area when she noticed a monitor lizard carrying an unidentified object. Suspicious, she alerted her co-workers and, upon closer inspection, realised it was a human body part. They immediately reported the discovery to the authorities. Neighbourhood leader Mr Amnat Buntin confirmed that the deceased, was a local man who had been raised by his adoptive mother. Reports suggested that both he and his mother suffered from mental health issues. He had lived in a makeshift shelter by the canal for years, bathing in the water and roaming the area, but never causing trouble for the community. Residents frequently provided him with food, and many expressed sadness over his passing. Authorities conducted an initial investigation at the scene, documented evidence, and transported the body to Samut Prakan Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. -- 2025-03-26

Picture from responders. An elderly Argentine man has been found dead after reportedly hanging himself from the balcony of his hotel room in Phuket. Authorities are investigating the cause of death, and there are no signs of foul play. At approximately 10:35 on 25 March, local police were alerted to a foreign national’s death at a hotel in the Rasada area of Muang, Phuket. Upon arrival, police found the body of a 77-year-old Argentine man, later identified as Roberto Luis Gutierrez, hanging from a nylon rope tied to the balcony railing. The victim was wearing a grey t-shirt but no trousers, and an overturned chair was found on the balcony, suggesting he may have used it to climb before hanging himself. Phuket’s forensic medical team, along with police officers, conducted an initial examination and discovered a previous injury to the left wrist, consistent with self-harm. The body was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further autopsy and investigation. A review of CCTV footage from 24 March revealed no signs of anyone entering the victim’s room, and there were no indications of a struggle or any missing valuables from the room. The investigation is ongoing, but authorities have ruled out the involvement of others at this stage. The Argentine Embassy has been contacted, and officials will work to arrange for the victim’s family to receive the body and arrange for funeral rites. The authorities are continuing their thorough examination to determine the full circumstances surrounding his death. Picture courtesy of SiamChon. A 21-year-old Tunisian tourist was arrested in Pattaya’s Walking Street after going on a drunken rampage, holding a Thai woman hostage, and threatening bar patrons with a broken bottle. At around 09:00 on 25 March, police from Pattaya Tourist Police and Pattaya City Police Station, led by Lieutenant Colonel Torlap Tinamat and Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Dusadee, responded to an urgent call from Pattaya’s security team. Reports indicated that a foreign man had taken a Thai woman hostage and was threatening people with a broken bottle. Upon arrival, officers found the Tunisian man in a highly agitated state, dressed only in his underwear and gripping a broken bottle and restraining a Thai woman while shouting accusations: “Why did you steal my money?” Police negotiated with him for over an hour, during which he verbally abused officers and made obscene gestures. Eventually, he released the woman and ran into a nearby nightclub. When negotiations failed, officers stormed the premises and subdued him before taking him into custody. Ms. Sukanya, 44, a bar owner, stated that the Tunisian man had arrived with a Thai woman, believed to be a bar worker. They drank beer and played pool until the suspect, heavily intoxicated, suddenly accused the woman of stealing his money. He then smashed a bottle, used it as a weapon, and began chasing people around the bar, causing panic among customers and injuring several. Ms. Nan 34, the alleged victim, confirmed she met the Tunisian tourist near Pattaya Beach before they went drinking together. She insisted that the suspect only had 500 baht when he paid for drinks, and she never stole any money. When he became aggressive, he grabbed her by the neck and held her hostage demanding she confess. Local security personnel arrived and saw the suspect restraining the woman with a broken bottle. As they approached, he pushed her away and fled into a nightclub. Police were immediately called in and successfully apprehended him after an intense standoff. At the Pattaya City Police Station, the suspect remained highly intoxicated, incoherent, and continued to hurl insults at officers. He was detained on charges of public intoxication and causing a public disturbance, with legal proceedings to follow. -- 2025-03-26
