UPDATE Arrest Warrants Imminent for Four Gang Members in Shocking Quadruple Murder and Burning Case in Trang Picture courtesy of Amarin Police are preparing to issue arrest warrants for four suspects believed to be part of a brutal gang responsible for the shocking murder and burning of four individuals in Trang province. The victims include the manager of a palm oil plantation and his staff, whose bodies were discovered burned and partially buried in a drainage canal on the plantation grounds. The incident, which has deeply shaken the local community, took place in Moo 1, Kalase Subdistrict, Sikao District. According to initial investigations, a group of at least four to five assailants, reportedly well acquainted with the victims, used firearms to shoot Mr. Surachet Luankiatkajorn, known as “Ko Chet,” aged 69, who was the manager of the palm plantation, along with two of his employees, Mr. Anan Tochonok (“Ko Piak”) 49, and Mr. Weerayut Tannula 41. Their bodies were then subjected to the horrific practice of “burning in car tyres” in a nearby drainage trench. The police later uncovered decomposed remains and partially burned body, believed to belong to a fourth unidentified victim. These were found buried roughly 200 metres from the initial crime scene. It is estimated that that victim had been deceased for approximately two to three weeks prior to discovery. At around 13:30 on 12 May, forensic officers from Trang Provincial Police brought a .45 calibre bullet recovered from an abandoned structure near the crime scene to Sikao Police Station for further analysis. The location, adjacent to the plantation managed by the victims, is believed to be where the executions were carried out before the bodies were moved and set alight. Bloodstains and other significant evidence were also recovered from this site. Police also seized an unregistered motorbike and brought it to the police station for examination. Authorities also summoned the mother and wife of a local man named Mr. Bin aged 37, for questioning. Mr. Bin, the manager of a neighbouring 36-rai palm plantation, has emerged as a prime suspect in the case. The interrogation was led personally by Pol. Maj. Gen. Pattharawit Keetmotaneeyakul, Trang Provincial Police Chief, and lasted several hours. Police have now gathered sufficient witness testimony, circumstantial evidence, and forensic findings to support their case and are preparing to submit a formal request to the Trang Provincial Court for arrest warrants for four suspects in the first round of indictments. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A late-night attempt to resolve a dispute turned into chaos at a bustling night market in Samrong Nuea, Samut Prakan, when gunfire erupted during a confrontation between rival groups, leaving two men injured. The incident occurred around 23:30 on 11 May, when Mr Phongsakorn Panyaimkaew, 28, arrived with several friends at the market in Soi Dan Samrong to confront another group allegedly involved in vandalising his mother’s residence. The dispute quickly escalated into a physical altercation, followed by a dramatic shooting spree, during which more than ten shots were reportedly fired. Police from Samrong Nuea Police Station and rescue teams from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the aftermath of the clash, including shell casings, a broken rattan baton, a shattered pool cue, a shoulder bag containing a fruit knife, and a bullet lodged at the scene. Mr Phongsakorn managed to flee the scene on his motorbike despite being struck in the head with a helmet and shot in the right buttock. He was later treated at Muang Samut Poo Chao Hospital. A second victim, Mr Suphonnee Saengrasi, 31, was found with head injuries caused by a blunt object and a blade, and was taken to Samrong General Hospital. According to Mr Phongsakorn, he and five to six companions had gone to the market to “clear the air” regarding the damage done to his mother’s room, where she had been present during the incident. However, the other group, whose numbers were reportedly larger, responded violently. His girlfriend, Ms Busaya Koetphoka, 24, corroborated the account, stating that her partner only intended to talk, but the situation turned violent. She said she arrived shortly after the shooting started and was unaware of how many people were involved. A friend of the injured man said he had followed the group later, believing the confrontation would remain peaceful. Upon arrival, he saw Mr Phongsakorn being assaulted. He claimed to have helped others escape by car once the gunfire began. A 15-year-old female vendor, who was selling meatballs with her boyfriend at the time, recounted the terrifying moment the gunfight erupted just outside their stall. “They were talking, then someone started it. Suddenly, people were fighting and shooting. I saw a gun drop near my stall, but someone grabbed it and ran. I was terrified. There were kids in the market crying. I just ran.” She also expressed fears that the incident might lead to the market being shut down. “I don’t want to die. I’m just trying to earn a living here.” Authorities say they are treating the matter with urgency and have pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly. Investigations are ongoing. Picture courtesy of Amarin. A 62-year-old man from Chai Nat has been arrested after violently attacking his wife with a machete in a fit of jealous rage, leaving her critically injured by the roadside in Sing Buri province. The assault was so brutal that the handle of the weapon reportedly broke during the attack. Police from the Sing Buri 191 Emergency Centre received a call from a concerned citizen reporting a violent altercation near kilometre marker 90 on the Asia Highway, in Moo 3, Bang Man subdistrict, Mueang Sing Buri district. Patrol officers, along with Pol. Sub-Lt. Sathaporn Buttaka from Sing Buri Police Station, responded to the scene. At the location, officers found Mrs. Juthamas Yimhoy, 51, unconscious in roadside undergrowth with multiple deep slash wounds to her face, head, and mouth. Emergency responders rushed her to Sing Buri Hospital in critical condition. Nearby, about 10 metres from the scene, two motorcycles were found covered in blood. Bystanders had managed to detain the assailant, identified as Mr. Sak Yimhoy, 62, also of Chai Nat, who is the victim’s husband. According to Mr. Sak, the couple had been married for over 20 years and had a daughter. He claimed that his wife, who had recently started working in Sing Buri, had begun behaving differently and rarely returned home. Suspecting she was seeing another man, he rode his motorcycle from Chai Nat to confront her. Upon seeing him, his wife reportedly attempted to flee on her motorcycle, leading to a chase. She eventually lost control and crashed by the roadside. Mr. Sak then assaulted her with a 50-centimetre blade, striking repeatedly until the weapon’s handle broke. Witnesses recounted seeing the couple’s motorbikes crash before the woman attempted to flee on foot. She was caught within 10 metres and attacked. Locals intervened, preventing Mr. Sak from escaping, and handed him over to police. Mr. Sak is currently in custody and is expected to face multiple serious charges related to the assault. Police are continuing their investigation. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-05-13.

68-Year-Old Man Dies After Motorcycle Sidecar Skids Off Bend into Drainage Canal in Bangkok Picture courtesy of Matichon. A 68-year-old man lost his life after losing control of his motorcycle with a sidecar and plunging into a drainage canal in Soi Suksawat 30, Chom Thong District, on the night of 11 May. Picture courtesy of Matichon. A 68-year-old man lost his life after losing control of his motorcycle with a sidecar and plunging into a drainage canal in Soi Suksawat 30, Chom Thong District, on the night of 11 May. At approximately 21:25, the Burana Rescue Centre (Ratchaphruek Hospital) received an emergency call reporting a motorcycle crash near a bend by Wat Pho Thong Temple within Soi Suksawat 30. The vehicle had veered off the road and into a drainage canal. Rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the red-and-grey Honda Wave 110i motorcycle with a sidecar submerged in the canal near a spirit house at the side of the road. The crash occurred on a curve along Suksawat Road, in a poorly lit area flanked by drainage ditches and overgrown grass. A man, later identified as Mr. Surin Donpraimee, 68, was discovered unconscious and lying on his side at the edge of the canal. Volunteers pulled him to safety and attempted CPR after detecting faint cardiac activity, but he remained unresponsive. Paramedics from the Erawan emergency system arrived shortly afterward and continued resuscitation efforts while rushing him to IMH Thonburi Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at 21:51. An eyewitness, Mr. Chalermphon, 43, who was driving behind the victim, stated that the motorcycle as he reached the curve, failed to turn and brake, instead heading straight into the canal. “There were no brake lights, no signs of slowing down, it was dark, and he just went straight off the road,” said the witness, who rushed to help after seeing the crash. Authorities noted that the bend in question is poorly lit, with no barrier separating the road from the canal. The road is a two-lane carriageway with clearly marked lines, but its slippery surface during the rainy season has made it notorious for crashes. Locals report that drivers frequently lose control at this spot, especially during wet conditions. Officials are urging local authorities to implement safety measures, such as barriers and improved lighting, to prevent further incidents at this crash-prone bend. The arrest brings an end to an 18-year-long manhunt for Mr. Woramet, who was wanted for imurder and illegal possession of a firearm. The arrest was carried out by officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) at a house in Song Chan subdistrict, Krasang district, Buriram province, the suspect’s hometown. The crime dates back to 2007, when Mr. Woramet fatally shot a man in Si Racha district, Chonburi province, using a pen gun, a disguised firearm resembling a pen, during a heated argument in a drinking circle. According to the investigation, the suspect had been struck in the back during the altercation before retaliating with the concealed weapon. Following the incident, Mr. Woramet fled the scene on a motorcycle and managed to evade authorities for 18 years. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and carrying a weapon in a public place without reasonable cause. A renewed investigation led officers to trace his whereabouts to Nong Teng subdistrict in Krasang, Buriram. Upon locating him, police moved in and arrested him without incident. Mr. Woramet admitted his identity and confessed to the crime, claiming he acted in self-defence. He has since been handed over to the investigative officers of Si Racha Police Station in Chonburi province to face legal proceedings. The arrest was made under the direction of Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Bhuridej, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, with oversight from Police Major General Wittaya Sriprasertphap, CSD Commander, and Police Colonel Natewit Thanasitnitikul, Superintendent of Subdivision 2. UPDATE Myanmar National Suspected in Murder of Elderly Fitness Centre Owner Now in Custody Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Police have confirmed the arrest of a 23-year-old Myanmar national, Mr. Sai Harn, suspected of murdering a 70-year-old fitness centre owner in Bangkok, following a manhunt and a 20,000 baht reward offer for information leading to his capture. The victim, Mr. Yuttharot Suwansumet, was the proprietor of a local fitness facility and employer of the suspect’s pregnant wife. He was fatally shot inside his home in Soi Rom Sai 12, Bang Khae district, on 10 May. The killing followed a heated confrontation during which Mr. Sai Harn is alleged to have threatened his own wife, who is five months pregnant, prompting her employer to intervene. According to investigators, a struggle ensued between the suspect and Mr. Yuttharot, who reportedly brandished a .38 calibre revolver to protect the woman. During the altercation, the firearm discharged, fatally wounding the elderly man. Mr. Sai Harn then fled the scene in the victim’s Honda car, taking both the weapon and the victim’s mobile phone. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned along Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in front of the Royal Thai Police flats in Chatuchak District. The car’s keys were left in the ignition, and it bore signs of a frontal collision with the licence plate missing. Witnesses saw the suspect leave the area on a public bus bound for Rangsit. A combined investigation led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Chotiwat Luangwilai, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Investigation Division, along with senior officers from Phetkasem Police Station and Division 9, traced the suspect’s movements using CCTV footage. He was seen entering Rangsit Market shortly after abandoning the vehicle. Despite an intensive search, the suspect managed to elude police for two days. However, at around 20:00 on 12 May, police arrested Mr. Sai Harn in Soi On Nut 65 as he was attempting to seek shelter at his wife’s former employer’s residence. Pol. Col. Pramote Chanboonkaew of Phetkasem Police confirmed that the arrest was made under a warrant issued by the Thonburi Criminal Court (No. 507/2568), charging Mr. Sai Han with murder and related offences. Picture courtesy of Amarin. A man reported missing after being swept away by a flash flood in Wang Nam Khiao district, Nakhon Ratchasima, has been found alive, much to the relief of rescuers and the local community. The incident occurred on the evening of 10 May, following prolonged heavy rainfall caused by a summer storm. The rain triggered sudden flash floods in the Udomsap subdistrict. At approximately 20:00, local residents contacted Hook 31 rescue services in Udomsap after witnessing a man, aged 60, being carried away by powerful floodwaters while attempting to push his motorcycle across a submerged causeway near Wat Huai Phrom, between Moo 4 and Moo 8 villages. Due to the strength of the current and poor visibility at night, no one dared to intervene at the time. Emergency responders were immediately dispatched but encountered difficulty locating the man due to unclear coordinates, darkness, and the widespread presence of fast-moving floodwaters. Rescuers deployed thermal drones in an attempt to detect a heat signature, but the search was called off at 23:30, after no signs of the man were found. However, in a dramatic turn of events, on the morning of 12 May, villagers informed rescue personnel that the missing man had been found alive, along with his motorcycle. According to reports, he had clung to his bike and used it to shield himself from the force of the current as he struggled to reach the opposite bank and pull both himself and his motorcycle out of the water. His quick thinking and determination enabled him to survive the terrifying ordeal. He was unaware of the rescue operation. Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A dramatic rescue unfolded in Lampang Province on the morning of 12 Nay, after a house fire broke out due to an electrical fault, leaving a mother and son injured by burns and smoke inhalation. At approximately 08:20, emergency teams from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Unit of Nong Lom Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, along with volunteers from Nong Lom Rescue, Lampang Rescue Association, and Sawang Nakhon Lampang Rescue, responded swiftly to reports of a house fire at 148, Moo 8, Nong Lom Subdistrict, Hang Chat District. The blaze reportedly started in the central room of the residence, where two occupants, Mrs Thongphan, 71, and her son Mr Phasin, 45, were inside at the time. Both suffered burns and smoke inhalation injuries. Rescuers immediately administered first aid and rushed them to Hang Chat Hospital for further treatment. According to police investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Rungreungchai Uppakarn from Hang Chat Police Station, the fire appears to have been caused by a damaged and outdated extension plug used to power the household television. Mr Phasin, who attempted to extinguish the flames himself, was unable to contain the fire and was forced to drag his mother from the burning house, both covered in black soot from the fire. The fire caused damage in the home, destroying the television and burning through ceiling panels and electrical outlets. Thick smoke left a strong odour throughout the house. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, warning residents about the dangers of using worn or faulty electrical equipment. Adapted by Asean Now from Kaoded 2025-05-13.

Picture courtesy of Amarin. The three deaths has shocked a rural village, after a couple and their five-year-old son were found shot dead in a remote hut surrounded by tapioca fields in Chiang Rai province. The victims, identified as Mr Lahuna, Ms Nadu, and their young son, Jirayu, were discovered by the child’s grandmother in the early hours of the morning of 12 May, after he failed to visit her as usual. All three bodies were found in the central room of the family’s wooden hut, which stands isolated approximately 500 metres from the nearest home in Ban Pa Lan, Moo 11, in Huai Chomphu subdistrict, Mueang district. Police and rescue teams were alerted around 09:00, after the grandmother entered the hut and discovered the horrifying scene. Investigators found bloodstains in the bedroom and children’s toys scattered throughout the home. A long-barrelled shotgun was found near the body of Mr Lahuna, leading officials to suspect a murder-suicide. According to local accounts, villagers reported hearing three loud bangs around 21:30, the previous night, but dismissed the noises as firecrackers. Mr Natee, 31, who lives nearby, said he had already gone to bed and heard nothing unusual, only learning of the tragedy when neighbours visited the hut the following morning. Deputy village headman Mr Jamu Jabu, 34, confirmed that no one disturbed the scene before authorities arrived. Initially, only the adult couple’s bodies were found. A later search revealed that young Jirayu’s body had been wrapped in a sarong belonging to his mother. He had been shot in the head. Mr Lahuna also suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while Ms Nadu was shot in the chest. Mr Jamu recounted that Ms Nadu had two teenage daughters from a previous marriage before living with Mr Lahuna for the past decade. She had periodically travelled to Chiang Rai city for work, sometimes staying for months and occasionally taking her son with her. These absences may have triggered jealousy and insecurity in her husband. Authorities suspect jealousy as the most likely motive behind the murders, particularly given past reports of frequent arguments between the couple. However, no previous incidents of drug use or criminal behaviour had been reported. Police investigations continue as the grieving family and community await further answers. A man wanted in connection with the assault of a police officer during local elections in Songkhla has turned himself in to authorities, accompanied by his father, a sitting Member of Parliament. At 12:30 on 12 May, Mr Siradon Phlaiduang, 28, known locally as “Sajor Golf,” arrived at Mueang Songkhla Police Station alongside his father, Mr Somyot Phlaiduang, Democrat Party MP for Songkhla’s Constituency 3. Mr Siradon is among seven suspects named in arrest warrants following the violent incident, which took place at a polling station in Phawong Subdistrict. The case involves the assault of Pol. Sgt. Nisatit Kongthep, an officer attached to Border Patrol Police Company 43, who was reportedly injured while attempting to prevent unauthorised photography at Polling Station 7 during the municipal elections for Phawong Subdistrict Municipality. Mr Siradon, who declined to speak to reporters, was led alone into the interrogation room as officers prepared his arrest record. His father briefly addressed the media, stating: “I’ve brought my son in to show that he is innocent.” Police confirmed that of the seven suspects named in the warrant, six have now presented themselves to the authorities. Five of them , Mr Rapeepong “Aon” Sawatchookaew (40), Mr Numsek “Khao” Thongsri (34), Mr Jakkrapong “Jak” Thepchoom (45), Mr Sarayut “Not” Noochaikaew (32), and Mr Pongthep “Nueng Freedom” Wadwilai (41), have been detained. Mr Pongthep remains at large. Another suspect, Mr Yotsaran Sangaban-Khok, also known as “Bang Jai,” aged 38, has not yet been apprehended and is still being sought by police. According to investigators, Mr Siradanai faces two charges: Participating with three or more persons in using force or weapons to resist or obstruct an officer performing official duties Instructing others to commit an offence against an officer acting under legal authority The remaining six suspects face the same first charge and a second charge of physically assaulting an officer acting within their official capacity. The investigation has so far revealed that instructions were allegedly given via mobile phone and that one suspect had stored a firearm at a family residence. Police have strongly opposed bail for all seven individuals, citing the seriousness of the offence and risk of evidence tampering. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has publicly condemned the use of violence against election officials, urging that the matter be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. The Democrat Party has sought to distance itself from the incident, with senior figures asserting that it is a personal matter involving the MP’s son and not related to the party’s activities. The investigation continues as police move forward with legal proceedings against those involved. Adapted by Asean Now from Khomchadluek 2025-05-13.

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Two women have died and another remains in critical condition following a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in Kanchanaburi province. The incident occurred around 16:30 on 11 May near the entrance to the Thai Food chicken factory in Moo 4, U Loke Si Muen sub-district, Tha Maka district. According to police from Tha Ruea Station, the victims were all Myanmar nationals, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. They had been riding on a single motorcycle against the flow of traffic, with three people on board. Two women were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital by rescue personnel from the Khun Rattanawut Foundation. Emergency responders found a heavily damaged black Yamaha motorcycle lying at the roadside. Nearby, a black Ford pickup truck, identified as the other vehicle involved, was parked with significant front-end damage. The male driver of the pickup told officers he had been en route to a sugarcane field when the motorcycle suddenly appeared, travelling the wrong way. He claimed his view had been obscured by another vehicle that was stopped, waiting to make a U-turn. As a result, he said, he was unable to see the motorbike in time to avoid the collision. Police have recorded the scene and taken the pickup driver in for further questioning to determine the full circumstances of the crash. A formal investigation is ongoing, and authorities have stated that legal proceedings will follow as appropriate. Adapted by Asean Now from Khoasod 2025-05-13.
