  1. And don’t forget as the process for them gets easier the rates for the passport will keep increasing. That’s important. We should not even have to pay for passports - just a btw note here - they should be covered by our taxes. They are for the government. They aren’t ours. Why is it we fund the government then when we need to use it we pay fees? Increasing fees as their burdens decrease btw
  2. Can anyone explain why, when I go to my home country, getting a multiple non o based on marriage is easy as pie, and then if I am in asia, the degree of difficulty increases dramatically. I mean you probably can’t but I’d be curious if anyone was willing to take a shot at this. It’s the same people in charge. Why are they so lenient when you’re at home. It makes no sense whatsoever to me but I’m not Thai.
  3. It depends on what the io had for lunch. Tom yam, yes copy is fine. soggy som tam you’ll need all originals
  4. kinda like cops in the United States, I’m thoroughly convinced it’s Thai immigration job description to continually make life hard and much more difficult for no other apparent reason than some revenue generation.
  5. Wild guess, whatever they do, it’ll be something a group of people will be able to make a lot more money on
  6. I camp all the time. You kinda need to be in a rural area. I’ve not tried anything built up. The nice part is when you’re in a rural area everything is fair game, fires on the beach for example. You just watch out for the national parks where you of course can’t do anything, camping included. Your biggest problem with camping isn’t going to be thai officials if you get in rural areas, it’s gonna be insects.
  7. Anyway, the new 400k deal is savanakhette is a bummer. I’d like to reiterate my wish to immigration that maybe one day they can make things easier instead of always more difficult, not that they’d listen. I would like to confirm the 400k is necessary to be in a thai bank account though. I actually came on here to ask upon joe about this. Was very sorry to see about his passing. He will be very missed by me. Only good source of info I ever had in an ever changing landscape of hoops.
  8. I had an office deny an entire application over photos, which was absolutely ridiculous. I mean I suppose you’d just have to trust me, but it was. My legitimate read on it was she just wanted to deny us for any reason she could muster. That same application they made my mil come into the office! She works, she is a babysitter. So she had to take a day off work to come into the immigration office that was hours away. The immigration officers showed up at our house too. Not exaggerating when I say the whole thing was one of the most stressful and prolonged situations in my life. I will never, ever apply for a marriage “visa” unless it is in bangkok again. My wife full broke down a number of times during the process. people dont realize the only reason you’re getting “lucky” in bangkok is the volume they have is just to high to send officers to homes and do all the other stuff. So yeah they’ve “streamlined” it and good for them. Anyway, I just wanted to note to the poster who seems to think the iOs are fair and balanced: you’re just getting lucky. Yeah there are places where it’s relatively straightforward I’m sure.
  9. Go into Mr diy there’s plenty there for 30 baht.
  10. I had to check this isn’t parody. Bro, Canadian life expectancy is going down. That’s never happened. Ever. Oh, and it just so happened to take place right after this rushed medicine was pumped out to everyone
  11. Just keep the old ones on they’ll be fine
  12. I love how the only person who made any sense in the thread gets downvoted. Most people don’t realize it depends where you live on these marriage visa applications. In bangkok I admit it’s pretty easy. You go outside of bangkok and many times immigration officers are showing up at your house and asking for pictures and talking to neighbors. This gentleman is correct. It’s a terribly intrusive process. And if you don’t know or understand that you haven’t been through a difficult one.
  13. So about 5 people said, unequivocally, that you could use a foreign account. And then we see this. Clear as mud. I guess you can’t. Idk. Who knows. It depends on what io had for lunch.
  14. I wish. U need to send your passport in so as far as I can surmise that would preclude this fine idea. You should be able to do this. I wonder if there will ever be a day the visa process gets easier instead of harder
