I camp all the time. You kinda need to be in a rural area. I’ve not tried anything built up. The nice part is when you’re in a rural area everything is fair game, fires on the beach for example. You just watch out for the national parks where you of course can’t do anything, camping included. Your biggest problem with camping isn’t going to be thai officials if you get in rural areas, it’s gonna be insects.

In bangkok I admit it’s pretty easy. You go outside of bangkok and many times immigration officers are showing up at your house and asking for pictures and talking to neighbors. This gentleman is correct. It’s a terribly intrusive process. And if you don’t know or understand that you haven’t been through a difficult one.
