Tariff pause - Trump IS an idiot !!
Hawaiian replied to TorquayFan's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Not to disagree, but he CAN do just about anything and is finding out it that much of what he doesn't go as planned. -
I see the same thing in rural subdivisions. Concrete instead of lawns. Then they wonder why flooding is so common.

There is no quick and sure way to end trade deficits. Tariffs actually compound the problem by artificially inflating prices. -

Thailand to Boost US Imports Amid Tariff Turmoil
Hawaiian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just because import duties are reduced or eliminated does not mean people will buy more. There has to be a demand for the products to begin with. People are already cutting back because of inflation and job losses. They are also learning to do without or substituting less costly items for cheaper ones. -

Right now most are bulk commodities like soybeans and corn. I don't know if there is much room for growth in these areas. One possibility is beef. Right now 44% of beef imports are from Australia. -
Most were sold on capitalism because it brought prosperity and helped to raise the standard of living for many. Then greed set in and corruption took over. Laws were tweaked and loopholes used by the unscrupulous to accumulate obscene wealth at the expense of the working class. This is the situation the world is in today. Trump's so-called solution is only compounding the disparity in wealth. And he continues to distort the facts with his outrageous lies.

The problem is too few are on the same page. Compromise has gone out the window along with common sense.

This turmoil is not having a major impact on my life, at least not yet. However, I do feel for those whose lives will soon be turned upside down if this insanity continues. And if the GOP does nothing, I don't think it will not survive in its present form.

I don't consider Bitcoin a hard asset. In fact I think it is a foolish gamble, not an intelligent investment. Buffet saw stocks as overpriced. Hence his unloading of Apple and other stocks and stockpiling his cash for better buys.

There are some GOP defectors in Congress, along with the Democrats that are willing to rein him in. Musk has has voiced his opposition to tariff on the EU. Let's see how far that goes. We are in for some interesting times.

The market isn't for everyone. The gullible usually buy high and sell low to the smart players. Always winners and losers.

Most of those "rich, greedy, money grubbing leeches" won't be jumping from windows like during the '29 crash. They are more sophisticated and have diversified their investments into all sorts of hard assets including precious metals.

As more Americans begin feeling the effects of the tariffs look for protests to gain steam. Conservatives and even Republicans are becoming vocal. Members of Congress are being bombarded with complaints. In fact some Republican senators are joining Democrats in introducing legislation to contain Trump. If nothing is done I expect violent demonstrations will be next.

Right. They are working with material that is twisted and intertwined. -
Now that Republicans are receiving a growing push back from their constituents more are willing to take back that power. Look for the anti-Trump demonstrations to turn violent as more Americans suffer from rising prices and interruption of government services.
