  1. The Chinese are pushing digital currency to control the flow of money and to prevent the flight of capital. Governments are in favor of a cashless society since it is easier to detect tax evasion.
  2. I don't trust phone apps either.
  3. I refuse to own a debit card. Once you get scammed out of money your chances of recovery are about zero. My bank has always come to the rescue when I've had problems with my credit card. They even alert me when there is suspected fraud.
  4. Technology is only good if it works. The more complicated it gets the more the chance of failure.
  5. Would you ever consider living in Israel, facing the danger that some day you or your family will be a victim of Hamas? And just who is this "alot of Israeli's"? Please describe in detail what a more "targeted approach" would be. If you watched the entire video you would understand the challenges the IDF confronts every day. Easy to be an armchair general, when you are not on the front line, face to face with a ruthless enemy. Talk is cheap, even for an American Jew. As an independent voter, I fully support American aid to Israel in order to carry out their mission against Hamas. I also question your use of the word genocide.
  6. Only after watching this video for a few minutes did I realize it was from MSNBC. As I continued viewing this interview I was totally surprised that this young man was allowed to tell of his story without any interruption or interjection. His description of the horror he witnessed is a grim reminder of what will occur again if Hamas is not destroyed. The sooner the better.
  7. How true. Shine the spotlight on Israel to keep the terrorist campfires going.
  8. Israel has gained more respect from me because they are intent on destroying a terrorist organization that is now spreading its tentacles into Europe and the U.S. Israel not only has the ability, but the resolve to finish the job. I expect this statement will draw many ugly comments from the usual anti-Israel posters.
  9. At one time I thought Al Jazeera was a reliable, mostly unbiased news source. Since the start of the Israeli/Hamas conflict could help but notice the obvious bias in their broadcasts. Now, no matter what website, as soon as I see Al Jazeera I move on.
  10. The big question is what is it going to take to resolve the situation. Every day this goes on the greater economic damage. How long before offensive action is taken? No one wants to things spiral out of control, but the present strategy is not working. On another note, the U.S. has reached record oil production. What effect is Angola's withdrawal from OPEC going to have? Will China's slowing economy cut back oil imports from Iran, a major financial backer of the terrorists?
  11. Sadly, not happening any time soon. Each side is determined to achieve their goals. And each side feels their goals are well justified. I am quite sure there will a lot of comments claiming the better justification for whomever they are rooting for.
  12. Guess you don't get it. I am NOT using your logic. Therefore, I do NOT accept that modern history is mostly fabricated.
  13. Similar to an indictment. Evidence is not always what it seems to be. Nothing is certain until a verdict is issued. Seems we already have a judge an jury in place.
  14. Maybe a pariah in some circles, but if Hamas is eliminated accolades may be the outcome from other quarters. In a previous post, you mentioned the decades of resentment from the defeated after WWII. When I pointed out the mutual security and defense treaties made a few years after the war (not decades) you dismissed this as being political and not personal sentiments. Although we can only surmise how the Israelis are perceived after the hostilities end, I would say your negative views will be proven wrong. Time moves on.
  15. I attended a Catholic School for 12 years where every year religion was a standard course, which naturally included bible study. Both the old and new testaments mention the Jews. Today, I look to the Bible for its historical value and not its religious significance. Archaeological discoveries have shown the geography and historical events recorded in the Bible are fairly accurate. Therefore, using the Bible as a reference in discussing the present dispute regarding Israel and Palestine, I feel is quite reliable. One of the main differences between the Jewish and Christian faiths is about Jesus Christ. Christians believe he was the Messiah while most Jews believe he was a prophet. Islam has similar views as Christians about Jesus. Since all three religions consider Jerusalem as a holy site why not designate it as an open city. Being an international city would prohibit both Israelis and Palestinians from making it their capital city. Then with international help a new capital could be built in the West Bank for the Palestinians. Would this diffuse some of the hostilities between the two camps? I am far from being an expert in this area, but can only hope this would stop the constant controversy over the city and save it from any more destruction. If you only have negative comments to make, keep them to yourselves. https://www.levitt.com/essays/palestine https://www.ispeacestillpossible.com/jerusalem-openvsdividedcity
  16. Didn't you ask for my opinion? Twice in fact. Parties? The biggie I would like to be invited to is the party celebrating Israel's victory over Hamas. In fact, I just might have one myself. At the rate Israel is murdering all these children and innocent civilians, my wish is for it to come soon.
  17. Evidently, you failed to comprehend what my response to you was. The reason the video was on that channel is because the hostess was programed to ask the questions that aligned with the slanted views of so-called Middle East expert, Noam Chomsky. If he is THE expert on the Middle East, then I am THE expert on Hawaii. The truth is I am not and neither is Chomsky as you claim. Again, you need to read my reply to that totally biased video. If you still don't get the message, perhaps a course in remedial English is in line.
  18. So far on this topic you have made 79 posts plastered with innuendos, accusations and repetitious arguments.........BORING!
  19. Don't waste your time with him. He is as you described. A bore, with relentless tirades against anyone who dares to differ with him.
  20. I sleep peacefully, never worrying about what you have accused me and others of. It is because of my racism?
  21. At my age I wished someone would mow my lawn. Even at age 84, I mow my lawn every three weeks with a walk-behind and not a riding mower. I only use the rider to mow my tropical fruit orchid.
  22. First of all, Democracy Now leans to the left, pretty far left. While described as accurately presenting the facts, does not mean you present all the facts. Chomsky uses strongly loaded words like sadistic, brutal, rampage, mowing the lawn, etc. to describe actions taken by Israel. He goes on and on about Israel, the bad player, but barely mentions Hamas. Read what this website says about Democracy Now. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/democracy-now/ Personally, I feel this is a totally one sided view about Israeli/Hamas relations and the present conflict. No one could be a better apologist for Hamas than Chomsky. Did you notice the expression and the tone of voice of the hostess? Looked and sounded like bias to me.
