Not sure if these are the same...

Maybe ask a Thai friend to search for you?

I quickly review all my battery links/sources here, and some Thai social media sites didn't uncover anything.

Yes those are them, however 170 baht is more than twice what they cost 80 baht in Europe ( incl shippng to Thailand ).  Its just the customs duties I am not sure about...

  2. I would like to bulk order 8000x Samsung 2500mAh 81650 cells to build an off-grid powerwall.

Not interested in buying from China, they are crap, only have 25% of the contents they should have.

In europe can bulk order at around £2 per cell ( 85 baht per cell ), I am not familiar with customs duties, what I've seen so far is that if the cell cost me £2, customs will charge me about the same again ? anyone with knowledge of customs duties for importing 81650 cells is most welcome to comment.

In Thailand I not found anything below 250 baht per cell so far....

  3. I am father of thai children and for the last 6 years have been getting 1 year temporary stay "Guardian" visa extended here in Thailand.  Recently I crossed the border into Malaysia and lost my visa.

I am now on 30 day tourist visa and have to goto Kuala Lumpur to get a Non Immigrant O visa.

They have 3 check lists for Non Immigration O Visa.

    1. Volunteer
    2. Retirement
    3. Dependant of Visa holder

Tried contacting the office, they just stone wall me and refer me back to the website.

So the nearest check list I can find to my situation is the Reitrement, but it has new critieria I have no experience of.

    • 6. Medical certificate issued in Malaysia within the last 3 months showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535 (1992)
    • 7. Certified criminal record in the applicant’s country of origin or current country of residence, issued by competent authority within the last 3 months

Anyone have experience of this or know if these are insisted upon ?  I am in Thailand and taking a flight early next week my tourist visa expires 15th.

  4. I'm considering chartering a yacht to do some sailing around the Andaman Sea, generally heading South as we go, but not sure how far we will get.

One thought was checking in and out of Thailand.

E.g.  If I sail around the Thailand area of the Andaman Sea, generally sailing south, if we time available  and then decide to continue on due south to Langkawi etc. Must we come back up to Thailand to check out first, or can we check out of Thailand from Langkawi or Penang ?

  5. Is it necessary to have a witness when making an application for a Thai ID card ?

Yesterday I ( Farang ) was at the Amphur to get my daugther's ( Thai / Farang ) Thai ID card.  I had her passport, birth certificate and the house book but they would not make the application for her Thai ID card because they said they need someone who already has a Thai ID card to witness and countersign the application.

Is this normal practise ? has anyone else experienced the same ?

  6. I am Farang, my daughter is Thai/Farang.

I would like to apply for her Thai ID card.

I understand from the first post the following two steps:

    1. Go to my local Amphur and get myself in the house book (can I do this by myself?)

    2. Apply for a Thai ID card at the same Amphur when I'm in the house book.

Whos house book do I use ?

I am divorced and live in Southern Thailand with together with my children, their mother lives in North Thailand.

I was putting effort in to put some constructive reply.... but you will probably just retort with something to try and wind me up, so will return to my work instead... useless forum.

A map showing the land boundaries is on the Chanote (title deeds). Never heard of that information being publicly available or available for download.

A copy of a Chanote is available for the general public to purchase from the land office.  You do not have to own the land, to purchase a copy of the Chanote.

A Chanote can be located by looking at the land map with the Surveyor at their computer in the land office.

    1. Change bank.

    2. Just keep a minimum in the account. People can't take what you don't have.

Yes, I have resorted to this.  But, it is inconvenient, hence my question to learn how it is done so it can be stopped.

So you have explained to me how the landlord gets your account number, but not how he can initiate a debit from your account himself. The only way would be if YOU have set up a direct debit facility for the landlord, effectively allowing him to do exactly that. A standing order (a more sensible payment method), would not allow the landlord to access your account. Personally I put reminders into my email calendar for regular bills, and initiate the transfers myself.

Banks do not permit people to make withdrawals from other people's accounts based only on having the account number. I have the account numbers for many utilities, friends and acquaintances, it certainly does not mean I can initiate a transfer from them back to myself!

It is the bank. The bank gives them the money from my account. It does happen, it has happened to me twice.  The account is frozen and funds are withdrawn.

I am asking, how do they do this ? How can someone, in Thailand, get a Thai bank, to freeze someone elses bank account, to debit monies from it ?

At what point in this process, am I given the opportunity do intervene ? to challenge the claim, that I owe money to someone.

Well unless you have some form of direct debit facility already established for the landlord I am unclear how he could even begin to access the funds in your bank account.

A payment is made from Account A to Account B, in Account A there is a debit transaction, in account B there is a credit transaction.

The credit transaction shows from who or from which account that payment has come from.  This is normal for all accounts, not just those in Thailand.  It is easy for the a landlord or anyone, to get the account number,.

No, he would need to take you to court.

Can you point me to the legislation that prevents them, because this is the second time this is happened.  Never happened to my UK bank account, only my Thai.

I understand that you are quitting the lease one month early, and the landlord is trying to keep your whole two-month security deposit. You are figuring that one month for quitting early is fair, and other things are less than the other month, so you should get a little bit back.

Sadly, according to my reading, many Thai landlords always keep the security deposit. In this case the amount you think you deserve back is less than one month's rent, so my feeling is you're getting less ripped off than usual.  Doesn't mean it's fair or right, but at least it's not as bad as losing the whole two months without a good reason. I think at your convenience you should drop the keys off, smile, and walk away.

I don't understand your last sentence, why you ask if the landlord can take money from your bank account, doesn't he already have the two month's security deposit in his account?

You need to read my first post,  the landlord and I are in dispute, the landlord is claiming more monies, and as such is looking to freeze my bank account, to take these additional monies.

This is the second time for me.
