  1. Probably, but not if this is just to start of more headaches, if they said hey give us 60k and we'll guarantee 20k km out of it till it dies excluding wearables I'd probably jump at it..
  2. I'd decided not to do the work just yet and just pay them what I owe for checking it out for now. I cant make heads or tails of it just yet... But I've got some more information now that perhaps suggests it isn't head gasket valve thing the first lad said but the same net effect of mixing which is why I thought we had found a consensus, I've now got via translation "radiator leaking, oil is mixed with coolant which is cause pipe to swell. oil flowing inside pipe, the coolant is sludge. " On the bill bill I can't even see anything related to head gasket, gasket valve so maybe this supports the above, the most expensive line item is "overhaul and replace radiator seals" 9k, water pump 4k, water valve 3k, radiator 7.3k, and so on all the way up near 60k. I'm pretty sure I got the radiator replace a year ago out in suburbs for 4.5k, so I'm not sure if anything near the 37 items will be actually needed.
  3. If that's only risk, and push it to side of the road until it gets towed home or to the scrap yard, I can live with that.
  4. Yeah something like that, front valve cover I think was the original thing the first young lad said. I've googled half the 37 parts number they've gave me and I think they've gone overboard on every little thing, on top of that same parts number from the same company - not sure if same branch - they are selling on lazada for less than 2/3rd of the price quotes to me - not as if the labor was free either that's price out separately and then bang on the vat. Think they seen the farang coming on this one.... Nope. Seems all normal That's all clean from the looks. Just loses about half the volume every month, cost bahts to topup .
  5. How big an issue is coolant mixing with oil, garage has just sent me an itemized bill estimate that looks like it came from a stay at a tier 1 hospital, estimated around 60k with 35k deposit. It seems okay to drive, but when replacing the oil locally told the young guy to give it a little check for leaks as some sticky fluid on driveway usually, they just do oil, tires and brakes usually, but took a look and he thinks that that head gasket cover was leaking and that coolant was mixing with oil. Turns out the young lad was correct I think, and a week later another garage knocked down a tree to print me an itemized estimate.. Tempted to just keep as a run around, and if it dies, then literally bin it, as long as won't explode on me until i run it to the ground.. They are only guaranteeing the work for 6 months and with other exclusions so really at point probably more prudent and quickly cheaper to get a new yaris or something similar
  6. Welcome to BKK, as you exit our new airport terminal, take time to observe the history displayed on the way, in front of the ramp for example, you will see a full size memorial to how immigration was done in the 20th century... oh wait..
  7. Good catch, where have all the make-up mirrors gone??
  8. I don't understand why they never crush them. I bet they all turn up with mummy the next day, 200baht and a wai and bikes released, they'll get a litre or two krakom juice + cough medicine on the way home, that's everywhere in SP, and be out annoying everyone tonight...
  9. It would be reasonable to ask the landlord to replace the microwave, if it's a piss yellow color it's probably long due replacement anyway.
  10. If you're paying cash there and then I find the independent small vendors good as, you don't have to go MBK, even top floor Asoke Terminal21 has a few, I was able to negotiate around 800baht off a 7000baht base model.
  11. There are many factors here. Are you on wired ethernet and are you sure there is no packet loss between your device and the router. If this is wifi from your laptop 340mbit seems about right.
  12. TBF, that is a good price, bloody awesome price. I know people who have paid more than that for one night and over 100k for 4/nights, I wouldn't be surprised to find people here that have paid 50k for one night. Yes you will rarely see room fee for more than 12k but it's everything else - and absolutely everything - it adds up quickly. Even in the high-so hospitals they still barge (rightly so) into the room at regular intervals in the night to check on whatever machines and drip etc.. You still have blood drawn, and I'd rather have the light on rather than vein misses and arm swaps - you'll get charged for the extra syringe tip in these scenarios too if they don't get the vein first time - little things add up rapidly.. You still have dozens of lab tests on your bill. You still have have 300baht for joke and orange juice that you didn't eat but you didn't realized that was getting added on every 8 hours... You got a bargain mate!
  13. How many strains are active in Thailand? If you had dengue twice some years ago is it worth getting the vaccine? I heard there are only two strains popular in Thailand many years ago so unless super unlucky unlikely to ever get it again is that correct? As covid has demonstrated with the retractions, withdrawals, target audience changes, safe and effective for everyone is very fluid term, vaccines aren't exactly a free ride on the body, but at least Pfizer ain't behind this one..
  14. That's the PDF you need but 0 nights doesn't look right, immigration on telephone advises to put the checkout date to end of your current visa/permission of stay even if your stay is intended to be indefinite or longer than the end of current permission to stay via renewals.
  15. I can deal with cancel requests, annoying, but it is what it is - at least they are upfront even with the old broken down excuse, I more despise "coming to you" (auto translate) then they don't move for 15+ minutes in areas with no traffic, in those scenarios I just flag a normal taxi, and call their bluff, I turn off location permission for the app so they can't see my location as I move away in a normal taxi or alternative app (under Privacy and Security), let the bluff ride, eventually they move, then I wait until they are within 100 meters, then cancel and swallow the 15baht fee. It's petty but if they don't even attempt to communicate I feel no guilt.
  16. Always laugh when I hear stories like this, but they are frequent across the whole of Thailand.. Sometimes it is previous year losses, other times landlord's son or wife make big problem for family with gambling debts, other times they have an epiphany that they can run it better themselves once forced out existing tenant - then get all upset when tenant takes out all the furnishings they provided too, years later the same units where a decent restaurant or nice independent coffee shop once stood remain dormant and decaying..
  17. I'm considering RSU health in maybe a month or two, it's been mentioned before by Sheryl but that post was some years ago. The prices on website, if correct, seems very fair, not too much different than play google is my doctor and own lab work. Anyone know if they box you into the age ranges for the health checks? I just want the cheap package plus 3 extra tests.. If money is no object though I would happily go for BNH on Covaent road, everything just seems spot on there, even the small things - the comfy chairs, little roof garden, to the valet parking, that said you pay for it!
  18. Wait another cycle and get the credit file. If it doesn't show there it shouldn't be a problem. https://www.ncb.co.th/check-your-credit-bureau/where-to-check-credit-bureau/?12
  19. Why can't Thailand compete? I doubt there are many factory jobs in Thailand's textile industry paying $900usd a month.
  20. Thank you everyone. Indeed it seems the most plausible explanation would be the prior injury, I had never considered that tbf, but I agree no doubt increased weight, and lifestyle choices could be exacerbating the issue, I do like the theory of having a gut can pull things out of alignment, does make logical sense. I will still test a few more things next time I go lab and see about EKG stress test, but I can wait a month and then that can give me a baseline for comparison on other metrics, and maybe a smaller gut then 😆.
  21. There's a few exceptions, I will give the BTS credit for assisting blind people, whatever station I see it at it's well managed and always someone to assist them at their disembarking station. But generally I imagine it's a nightmare for any disability.
  22. Do you think the blood test would be sufficient here? amylase and lipase i can get at the lab next week
  23. 1) Will need to get a checkup package for that, still finding the deals, seems many of them are doing 2 for 1 which is weird promotion for medical, rope along a buddy from the bar 🤣 will up the priority on this 2) Yes, uninsured/untreated motorbike accident around 10 years ago, ribs screwed for several weeks but got myself better..
  24. For about two months I get an occasional brief pinging pain on the left side kind of under rib area I think toward the back side of body, it is passing and I wouldn't call it agony painful but I wouldn't call it dull either, and sometimes I can go a whole day without noticing it, it's also difficult to explain in english but here goes 😅 - imagine you come of your motorbike and got a small hamburger rash of expose skin say 3cm by 3xm and that's on some internal organ on your left side then you accidentally bump it after a few days and you feel the tingle/burn for a few second and lingering for say 30 seconds. I often notice it after I've done say 1km of walking (not at pace), or this morning leaning forward reading bbc news on the toilet. I often thought it was post weekend boozing but I noticed it more on Thursday last week after a few days off the booze, and about an hour after Hotpot restaurant yesterday. Early 40s/male, a little overweight - BMI high by UK standards, no known other medical conditions. My cbc, liver test, bun/creatine, lipids, urine analysis came back within range and noted as normal, some near the top end of the range though. I do plan on a doctor visit at some point, but I really struggle to explain this.. and I think with the language barriers I'll probably end up with some antiacids or something. I should note as well that about 3 years ago I did have the same thing for about a week or two and that just cleared up on it's own, this time it's more persistent though.
  25. Thank you very much Sheryl!
