UK Couple’s ‘Holiday From Hell’ as Conflict Grounds Flights
No travel insurance covers disruptions due to Acts of War. The best you'll get is a refund from the airline (but usually only after the airline has cancelled the flight). If you can't afford to pay for alternative flights whilst waiting for your refund, then you shouldn't be travelling.

Concrete turning to dust
Another suggestion which may give you a longer-life repair (but more expensive) is to apply an epoxy resin bonding agent (I used Sikadur 32TH which I got from Sang Chai) and then a skim coat of Lanko 731 fiber reinforced repair mortar (which I also got from Sang Chai). You need to use a wire brush to remove all the loose material, then vacuum to remove dust, apply the bonding agent with a brush in a circular motion (not side to side), let that cure and then apply the structural mortar.

How long to get your Certificate of Residency from your IO?
It varies between Immigration offices. Seems they each have their own rules. I got one last year from Krabi. Took 30 mins and cost 300 baht.

Police Recover Cartier Watch for Dutch Tourist
Yes, that was my first thought. If that wasn't the case, then he was crazy taking a 350,000 baht watch to a massage shop and leaving it on the table.

TM30 registration
No, it doesn't remain valid because the hotel shows your check-in and checkout dates on the TN30, so after you've checked out, you need a new TM30 submitted by the owner of the next place you are staying at.

How Many Days Won On AN?
I didn't have a clue what "winning on AN" meant until I started reading some of the replies. So there are people who spend most of their day posting on this forum? That seems to be a sad way to spend life in this beautiful country where there is so much to do away from a keyboard. Everyone to their own I guess.

Car breakdown, what to do?
"I am at a loss to know that a Suzuki main dealer have no personel that can speak English!" Well we are in Thailand, and people working in occupations like motor mechanic generally do not speak languages other than Thai (maybe Lao if they are in Isan). Nobody at the main Toyota dealer where I live can speak English but I just use a translator app on my phone whenever I take my car for service or an repairs. Works fine.

ASEAN to Review Myanmar’s Disputed Election
Whatever the outcome of ASEAN's "careful assessment" it won't change anything in Myanmar because the military regime will just ignore it. All this talk of evaluating Myanmar's political processes is just meaningless diplomatic jargon because it's bleedingly obvious that the so-called election was a sham and ASEAN is powerless to do anything because any actions that it takes can only be done with the consensus of all members. Unfortunately much like the UN these days, ASEAN is all talk and little action.

Airport Tax for International Departures Raised to 1,120 Baht
I agree too. But when there is subsequently little evidence of that money being spent on improving airport facilities, you do wonder what happens to it.

Are my Pneumonia vaccines up to date?
I have bronchiectasis too but only ever get symptoms as bad as yours if the air quality is deteriorates during the burning season (which is why I live in southern Thailand and not Laos). I have had two pneumonia vaccinations since turning 65 and my doctor told me that would be all I need. He also said they weren't the most effective vaccinations (working in only about 50% of people I think he said) but having bronchiectasis it was still recommended to have them. I had my vaccinations a year apart which is what is recommended if your first vaccination for pneumonia is when you are over 65. You didn't mention you age, but if you are under 65 you may need to have those two year-apart shots when you reach 65 to give you lifetime protection.

Corrections Department Defends Thaksin Family Photo Policy
There's no lake inside the prison (I checked the satellite view on Google Maps out of curiosity) but there is a wide moat around three sides of the prison, so maybe what looks like a lake in the background is part of the moat. But there do not appear to be any flower gardens adjacent to the moat on the satellite image, so like you, I'm skeptical that this was taken inside the prison grounds.

i want to stay 6 months and is not possible anymore?
I thought the new rules were 60 days visa exempt + 30 days extension + a final extension of 7 days. So if you want to stay more than 97 days you should be applying for the proper visa at the start and not come in as a tourist in a visa-exempt. Can't see where you get the 150 days from. Please correct me if I've misunderstood the new rules.

Thailand Targets $310M Boost in Herbal Inhaler Market
Aren't these herbal inhalers addictive? Incidentally, the photo accompanying this article is not representative of what this 4.5 billion Thai inhaler market it all about. It's those little green bottles that you see in 7-Elevens and pharmacies.

Thailand to Tax All Online Shopping Imports Starting 2026
The only products I buy online are products I can't source in Thailand. All this is going to do is increase my cost of living here. For the ordinary Thai people who use online shopping more than I do, their cost of living is also going to increase. Meanwhile the politicians who don't use online shopping (because they only shop in luxury goods stores) won't give this a second thought because when you have millions stashed in multiple bank accounts, who gives a damn about a few extra baht that the ordinary people have to pay.

Court Rejects Bid to Ground Foreign Pilots in Thailand
It is standard practice all over the world for wet leases to include foreign pilots. As the court said, preventing this in Thailand would disrupt airlines' abilities to use wet leases to procure additional aircraft to cover peak periods, etc.

Thailand Ranks 34th as Portugal Tops Global Retirement List
Because many people can no longer afford to live in their home countries. I'm Australian and my cost of living in Thailand is less than half what it would be in Australia when you take into account the cost of accommodation (whether buying or renting). If you have two million Aussie dollars in the bank you can buy a nice house there and live comfortably, but I'm not so lucky to be in that position. We bought a house in Thailand that cost about a third to a half of what a similar property in a similar location would have cost in Australia. What we have left in the bank is enough to live on comfortably, even allowing for the possible higher health care costs.

Thailand Ranks 34th as Portugal Tops Global Retirement List
That first sentence is strange. It seems the writer sees being 34 out of 44 as something of an achievement. The report itself is strange too. Mauritius the second best place in the world to retire? No way! I've been to Mauritius. It's a nice country for a tropical holiday (not dissimilar to Thailand) but it is so isolated and traveling from there is very expensive. Most things are imported so there are frieght costs on everything, if not customs duties and taxes. Interesting to note that there are no Asian countries in the top 15 so I guess this report must be UK or US based.

Rising Costs Hurt Thailand's Tourist Numbers
So Thailand bemoans the fact that tourist numbers are down because of rising costs. And what is the headline of the top story on here today: "Thailand plans to increase air travel costs" Is that what you call an oxymoron?

Thai PM Anutin Reveals 3.9 Billion Baht in Assets
It always amazes me that when people his age and are this wealthy, why they even bother getting into politics? Why don't don't they just fly around the world in their private jets, or cruise in their luxury yachts, and just enjoy the rest of their lives?

Google it, and you will understand the relevance. Nobody's gonna say it here though.

Thailand Attracts 7,000 Pros via Long-Term LTR Visa Plan
I laughed when I read this headline. Obviously the headline writer doesn't know that a 'pro' is a slang term for a prostitute in some countries (albeit a somewhat dated one) 🤣
