  1. We saw a baby King Cobra outside our downstairs bedroom a couple of years ago, did all we could to block the door etc. Kept finding them, then found about 6 broken eggshells in a storage box in the en suite bathroom/laundry. We were trying to keep them out but they started off inside, so we were stopping them getting out.. Mother must have gone in and left through the shower drain. I stood on one as I carried a load of wet washing outside to dry.
  2. Easier said than done, we have a problem pack, they’ve torn people’s pets to pieces, one had just been brought over from Europe, really tragic., they chase motorbikes and pedestrians, etc, total nightmare. The owner refuses to keep then in as he says he owns his house so has the right to have free-roaming dogs, he doesn’t get that he is supposed to take them for a walk himself. The Police, council etc seem to agree with him unfortunately, had many complaints.
  3. What a bizarre comment. I bought a high end AMG with different tyre profiles once, not at all obvious. The differential was only driving one rear wheel. That’s how diffs work, maybe you should read up on it.
  4. I would suggest Penang too, went there recently after too many VE entries and almost 90/180 days. You do need to show bank statements though. Only wanted 5 days in country but wanted to be safe, IO’s were much more pleasant.. That was just before the new 60 day thing unfortunately.
  5. They do look different though. Quite possible there were two driven tyres of different profile, so only one getting driven by the diff, and overheating.
  6. Patak road in Karon, Phuket is for tuk tuks only apparently, anyone parking a car gets told to move it immediately, can’t even pop into a shop, or it’ll get damaged.
  7. Had a big water banded krait slither over my foot on a boat once, near Bali I think. I froze, it just ignored me and carried on its merry way. Scared the crap out of me. It had hidden in the braided cables at the back of a big diesel engine. Caught it in a bucket and put it over the side.
  8. Saw a python suffocate a full grown Alsatian dog there, couldn’t quite swallow it, had several people pulling the dog’s legs. Right outside a busy restaurant.
  9. Used to be called ‘cruising’ I suppose, hanging around to show off their cars because they can’t go to the pub - they don’t drink.
  10. I’ll second that, had nail fungus all my life, a mate recommended Vick’s Vapour Rub and it has worked unbelievably well, tried all sorts over the years. Didn’t take very long either, just slather it on and get it under the nails, try to cut back as far as possible, or have the wife do that.. mine loves to do mani- and pedicures.
  11. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 162 seconds
  12. Damn, yes, same here, have 10 currently although we lost a few of the younger ones, unsure as to where, possibly snakes or monitor lizards although the wife did have to retrieve one from a Russian lady on a motorbike who thought she was cute once… Very time consuming, constant trips to the vet, pet-shop and about 20 litter trays to keep clean. One lives outside, best friends with our dog. The rest used to wander the garden and jungle but losing them wasn’t nice. Wife may be mad, hard to tell..could just be me.
  13. Explain why then. He is of Rwandan family, what has been in the news lately about Rwanda?
  14. Rather than religion his motivation could well have been the dropping of the Rwanda deportation plan by Starmer on his first day as PM. This would probably be percieved by Rwandans as a humiliating kick in the teeth as well as a big loss of revenue. I am not commenting on the ethical ramifications of the plan although it would have discouraged crossing the channel in a flimsy dinghy. So rather than anything to do with Muslims, Vietnamese, Albanians etc, just national pride for his mother country, although highly perverted, horrific and extreme of course but simply that? Not pro-islam but in essence anti?
  15. I've done all of these over the years: Penang the big ‘Thai’ buses are better (then change to taxi at Hat Yai) at least you can move around and there’s a toilet - not a very nice one but it’s there. And cheap. Driven to Ranong a good few times, started off returning home same day but it’s a big day. Can stay in Ranong but last trip discovered Koh Phayam, ended up staying 4 nights, great place, no cars, like stepping back to the 80’s although it may have changed, was a while back. It’s just 30 minutes by speedboat from Ranong and there’s a cheap safe car park by the jetty. KL’s by far the easiest, but most boring.
  16. Poverty in the Philippines is way worse than Thailand. Walking around even reasonable parts of Manila (there are some desperate bits as well as extremely affluent ones, I worked for a guy who built a casino costing an unbelievable amount, tens of billions of USD: obscene) you have to be careful not to trip over beggars’ babies crawling on the pavement. I never saw that sort of depravation even in India back in the 80’s. The wealth divide is extreme.
  17. I think it’s a word he made up referring to their incessant chattering. It can be deeply irritating. I watched a girl who worked for me once in the Philippines eat a whole meal whilst talking non-stop without a gap of one second - no idea how she managed to breathe at the same time. Astounding.
  18. I think we’re back to basic hygiene again.
  19. Legal or not, if you have a dangerous dog there ought to be a warning at the gate.
  20. Not necessarily, Thai women generally want to avoid Thai men if they can help it. My wife was married to a Thai, her first ever partner, in her 20’s and divorced him as he was basically using her income to support his indolent lifestyle. After that she was totally celibate for a decade, vowing never to have a relationship with a Thai man again, until we met by chance when she went on holiday, having to close her businesses due to the Bangkok unrest at the time. She was a lot wealthier than I. Since then I’ve witnessed several very attractive and hi-so Bangkok ladies ask her how they could meet a foreigner, the anti-Thai man sentiment being very common.
  21. We discovered recently that a neighbour living half a mile away has been using our address on his TM30 for over 15 years. Same landlords.
  22. I'm unsure as to how well he can ride it without adjusting the seat height properly though.
  23. I'm sure they can also make their own minds up on that.
