    Federal state and local taxes consume 32% of the GDP (2022 numbers). That’s plenty. If you look at trends since WW2, the US has never collected more than 20% of the GDP in revenue despite high higher tax rates in the past. Yet, federal spending is since 2010 has been over 20% of the GDP.
