Yeah, they printed up a bunch of these and didn't want to change them. Chiang Saen was 1 night and and Chiang Khong switched from 2 to 1 night a while ago as well. That's been confirmed by a few people recently. Of course it might depend on who is working the shift you decide to return.

I've literally never heard of this happening to anyone. No one checks your TM47 status until you are at the immigration office for something.

Chiang Khong is only a little further and much easier to get a bus to there. But if you are driving yourself I guess you can go to either one. They both have the 1 night rule currently. Just make sure if you are going with him, that you get a re-entry permit from your home immigration before going, since I assume you don't want to start over along with him. And make sure he does not have a re-entry permit or his extension won't be invalidated when he leaves.

There is no 2 days out rule. It's 1 night required in Laos, only at the Chiang Saen and Chiang Khong border. And reports indicate it is only for those using visa exempt. One person reported recently that they had a multiple entry visa and were told they could not return that day, but turned around in Laos and had no problem getting back in.

A common problem at Jomtien. I believe Chiang Mai also does this. But most other immigration offices do not. At least feel better in the fact that if you did not have the copy you arrived with, they probably would have fined you.

There are no forms. You proceed to passport control and hand over your passport and your boarding pass. Smile for the camera and provide your fingerprints, then wait for your passport back.

There was an article a few days ago that insinuated if the investigation into the current PM seems to be going anywhere, that she would dissolve parliament before being declared ineligible for PM. That's because PT is out of eligible candidates for PM and they would rather wash the whole thing and start over than let another party be PM.

Does anyone have recent experience obtaining a residence certificate from either Mae Sai immigration or the one in Central? I will need to renew my license without much time to spare before renting a car, so I'm trying to be as efficient as possible. I have never used either immigration office previously so I'm not sure which one would be best for me to go to, since I'll be about halfway between the city and Mae Sai. Thanks!

I assume those 500 long queues were from before appointments were required. Now they only see a set number of people per day.

Seems like they're purposely punishing the typical Move Forward Party voter, who tended to be younger and able-bodies. They promised 10k to everyone, but now the people who didn't vote for them are being left out of the payments. First they sent it to disabled, and now they are sending it to the elderly, who are all more likely to have voted for a traditional party.

I looked through both threads and while I did see someone refused the 60 day extension, there was no reason given. I did not see any other mention of some immigration offices only allowing a single 60-day extension during the life of a multiple-entry non-O based on marriage.

Tell that to the many immigration offices that won't allow it.

I've read quite a few reports of people who got a re-entry permit for their stamps before going to apply for a DTV in Laos. They got the re-entry permit in the event their application for DTV was denied, but they received their DTV without issue and were stamped into Thailand using the DTV without issue.

Actually, many immigration offices only allow one 60-day visit Thai wife extension per visa. So if the op has the Multiple Entry marriage visa, and has already done a 60-day extension since receiving it, they might not be allowed to do another one. Something to keep in mind, but based on the Op not liking to go to immigration I would assume they have not used this.

Depends on how quickly you get back to Thailand in order to cancel your non-B extension. The fine for failing to cancel is charged at 500 baht per day from the day you stopped working (which is actually the day your permission to stay ended, not the day your extension expired). If you already capped out at the 20,000 baht after 40 days, then I wouldn't do anything. Sometimes it can be overlooked and you won't hear about it again. Better to wait until they fine you rather than volunteer to pay. Also if you have a DTV you possibly won't ever need to go to immigration so they would never know they are supposed to fine you, just do border bounces instead of trying to do the extension we know nothing about yet. So, if you are back soon after you stopped working, go cancel and pay the fine, but if you already maxxed out the fine, ignore it until they call you out.

There's only 2 Laos borders (Chiang Saen and Chiang Khong) that require you spend ONE night in Laos.

You probably need to find out what time they open new appointment slots and be ready right at that time. I imagine there are a large amount of Burmese that want visas to Thailand with the current situation.

1) They don't put a stamp in your passport. Your visa is a pdf document e-mailed to you. 2) You must be physically in the country. You must prove you are physically in the country, by showing the stamp in your passport from when you entered the country as well as the reservation for where you are staying in the country. There have also been multiple reports of "spot-checks" a few days after you submit your application for proof that you are STILL in the country.

I believe Yangon is also an option, but might also require an appointment? Those are the last 2 possibilities now that everywhere else has switched to e-visa already. Once Laos and Myanmar switch to e-visa, it will be gone altogether.

If you arrive before they open you get a queue for the queue. So you might be #100 then, but by the time everyone in front of you gets to the queue where they are going, your queue might still only have a couple of people because not everyone wants your counter.

1) Read different people's reports. Some locations are better for different circumstances. 2) Laos does not support e-visa. You apply in person. Anywhere that supports e-visa you are not even allowed on the property of the embassy. All visa matters are handled through the e-visa system. 3) Each embassy sets their own requirements. Check the embassy website for what they require.
