  1. That post is from July 2023, long before e-visa. I don't know what the e-visa processing time is for that embassy though.
  2. The system hasn't even been online for a month, and it's looking like you're not going to get what you are asking for. So use how it works at every other embassy in the world that has already been on e-visa for 2 years now. You meet the requirements that the embassy has on their website, since that's the embassy processing the e-visa application.
  3. The Thai embassy in Paris is the worst example you could use. They are known to be the worst embassy (tied with Ottawa) for processing e-visa. Multiple weeks if not multiple months to process applications. And then if they take so long that the date on the ticket you uploaded passes, they will cancel the application. Most other embassies will still issue the visa even if the date on the ticket passed, and then you can just border bounce to use your visa.
  4. The HCMC Website has the same requirement listed. Since that embassy will be the one processing the application, I would assume the requirement they have on their website is their requirement.
  5. Should be fine doing it that way. Just make sure you don't get confused and give them the wrong passport at some point and screw up your visa/extension. But the fact that you will be going to Australia more than the UK doesn't really have any factor at all in this equation. You choose to enter Thailand with one passport and must exit Thailand with that passport, what you do other than that is irrelevant about entering or leaving other countries with whichever passport.
  6. Umm... The Thai embassy in Singapore doesn't use e-visa so none of this is the actual story.
  7. All that means is you get 60 days IF you are let into the country. It doesn't mean you are entitled entry to Thailand. The same as any every country in the world, the immigration officers at entry have full discretion to let you in or not. In Thailand they have determined you are abusing the system and trying to live in Thailand without a proper long-term visa. If they did let you in, then take this as your warning that you can no longer do this. If you were denied entry and sent away, then you now know that you cannot return without a long-term visa for someone who wants to live in Thailand.
  8. The DTV is a tourist visa, and this is the policy at most DLT offices in regards to tourist entries (visa exempt or tourist visa). Going to a different DLT may turn up different results, as is the same across Thailand for various agencies.
  9. Doesn't matter who has the numbers, as they already said only the people who were originally put forward as PM candidates during the election are allowed to be PM. Move Forward only put forward one candidate, which was Pita, and he's now banned from politics. PP has gone through their options, which means the only people who are left that are allowed to be PM are from the other parties, the largest of which is Anutin's party and he was put forward as candidate. Makes him PM almost by default. At this point they just need to dissolve parliament and call for new elections.
  10. So what happens if a Thai person wants to register for a legitimate foreign service that includes texted links, like ordering a product from a foreign company and the tracking is sent to them? These foreign companies are not going to go through the process of registering in another country just to be able to send links in their texts. On top of that, a both iMessage and RCS are encrypted, which means the telephone company would have no idea what is in the messages to begin with. The only thing this could stop is regular sms (not rcs or imessage) from one Thai number to another Thai number. I'd wager that's only a small fraction of the problem.
  11. This is all about headlines and not about helping people. If it was about helping people it would be implemented on the lines that people actually use, like the blue line, and the BTS as well.
  12. Next month I'll be back in Thailand right when my Thai drivers licenses expire. I'll be staying in Chiang Rai for most of the time, but originally got my license in Chiang Mai so I've never used immigration in Chiang Rai. Just wondering if anyone has experience on if it's tough to get a COR in Chiang Rai and what the requirements are, either at the main office in the mall, or at the office in Mae Sai, which I'll actually be closer to. I also have the option of just getting the COR from Chamchuri in Bangkok before I head up North since I have an LTR, but I don't know if the DLT in Chiang Rai would accept a COR from Bangkok? I have an address I can use for either, so that's not a concern. Any insights or the best strategy would be great. Thanks! Edited to add that I have an available address for both provinces.
  13. There is no tagging onto a visa application. If you want to get a dependent DTV, then the primary person must apply for and pay for their application, and wait for the DTV to be issued. Once they have that, then the dependent can apply for and pay for their own DTV based on the primary, with one of the required fields in the application being an upload of the DTV issued to the primary person.
  14. Correct. Though some of the Malay borders are known for requiring you to spend the night. So you might want to use a border bounce agency if you decide to go that direction.
  15. This seems to confirm the rumors that BJT party is basically running the Senate.
  16. I've seen some posts from people that were recently there saying they shut down their appointments to prepare for the e-visa system.
  17. Some immigration offices will not accept monthly transfers if your embassy provides the affidavit. If you are ONLY making the transfers to cover yourself if the embassy changes course, and you still plan to use the affidavit until it's not available, then you are covered. But if you want to switch to the monthly transfers even while your embassy is still offering the certification, you might want to check with your immigration office to see if it's a valid option first.
  18. What, no mention of his private plane in this article?
  19. The crime is opening an account for someone else. In Bangkok there are signs all over the BTS stations warning Thai people not to open mule accounts. Same goes for cell phone accounts, since they are trying to crack down on SIM cards used by scammers.
  20. The reason people keep mentioning the 2nd yearly extension is because you CANNOT use monthly transfers for the first yearly extension. Even if you can show 10 years of monthly transfers, it will be refused. The ONLY option for the first 1-year extension is 800k in the bank, or an embassy affidavit of income.
  21. Already widely discussed on Facebook groups. Wise has said to use the option for purchasing property if you want it to show as international.
  22. The google translation of the Royal Gazette announcement of the DTV called it a "special tourist visa" but that might be down to crappy translation.
  23. That has nothing to do with this. A work extension MUST be cancelled, even if you just let it run out, or leave without a re-entry permit, you still MUST cancel it. If you don't cancel it, you likely cannot get a new long-term visa or new long-term extension until you do so, and will also be fined 500 baht per day for failing to do so. There are also land borders that won't even let you leave Thailand if you haven't cancelled your work extension and don't have a re-entry permit. Same goes for education extensions and volunteer extensions.
  24. Never heard of a 2000 baht TM30 fine. The fine for failure to do a 90 day report is 2000 baht though.
  25. You don't see how the government would get commissions? The votes were already bought. There's no need to make the payment now. So a few thousand people don't get the full 10,000 or don't get it at all. But that money still shows as distributed in the rolls. Guess whose bank account it actually ended up in?
