TM30 Self Reporting - system's stumped me.
BrandonJT replied to BusyB's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There are a lot of countries that have the same procedure, you just don't know about it because the hotels do it without making a big deal about it. -
When is my 90 day report due?
BrandonJT replied to pub2022's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It's not wrong. I know that for a fact. A stay that is not eligible to be over 90 days does not incur a 90-day report requirement. The first 90-day report will be 90 days after the first stay that allows more than 90 days. That would be 90 days after the first 1-year extension. They will put a slip in the passport indicating when the first report will be. @Tod Daniels would be happy to confirm what I'm saying. -
Nong Khai now requires you to stay in Laos. I don't remember if the reports say 1 or 2 nights, as it varies by border. You will need to stay in Laos for whatever amount of time that border requires. When you return to Thailand, you will receive a 60-day visa exempt stamp if you have no visa. There is no mechanism to receive a stamp less than that unless the government modifies the visa exempt program again.

When is my 90 day report due?
BrandonJT replied to pub2022's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It starts neither date. Neither of those entries grants you more than 90 days, so there is no 90 day report required. The date starts from when you get the 1-year extension. The immigration officer will attach a slip of paper into your passport that includes when your next (first) 90-day report will be due. -
Immigration Thailand Digital Arrival Card. TDAC
BrandonJT replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Does the UK not have internet anymore? You have 3 days to do it. I'm sure you can find internet sometime during then. And if not use the wifi at the airport to do it on your phone. Or wait in line when you arrive for one of the kiosks to fill it out. -

Renewing Retirement visa.
BrandonJT replied to Tony Healt's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I believe it has moved now, but just ask the passport control officers and they'll direct you to the correct location. -
Clarification on Retirement Visa
BrandonJT replied to Slinky1958's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You CANNOT get the first 1-year extension using transfers. Period. End of story. Even if you can show 20 years of transfers. you CANNOT USE IT. -
Visa Cancellation for ED Visa
BrandonJT replied to Maleetea's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are misinterpreting what I said. Work extensions MUST be cancelled. Education extensions MUST be cancelled. Marriage and retirement extensions do not need to be cancelled. -
Visa Cancellation for ED Visa
BrandonJT replied to Maleetea's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It must be cancelled when the reason for the extension ends. That is the rule regardless of if you want to apply for another visa or extension. But if you don't plan to apply for another long-term visa or extension in the future, then there's no point that it will become a problem. If you do plan to do so, then you could be prevented from doing so and fined. Work extensions are similar. Not marriage extensions. Not retirement extensions. -
Visa Cancellation for ED Visa
BrandonJT replied to Maleetea's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
We are not talking about marriage visas or extensions, we are talking about education extensions. They have their own set of rules. Though your friend was technically on overstay from the moment his divorce was finalized. -
Visa Cancellation for ED Visa
BrandonJT replied to Maleetea's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Legally, yes you must cancel your extension. You signed a document that stated you would notify immigration of any change in your status, and it appears you will stop studying and that is a change in status. You would need to get a letter from university that states the date you will end your studies, and then take that letter to the immigration office that issued your extension. You can usually do this 1-2 weeks in advance of the date on the letter. They will cancel your extension and then stamp you back in until the date on the letter. If you never plan to get another long-term visa or extension in Thailand again, then you are probably safe to ignore it. On the other hand, if you do plan to get one, or not sure, then you would want to do cancel it as the penalty for not doing so is the same as overstay, 500 baht per day up to a maximum of 20,000 baht, regardless of if you are in Thailand or not. -
LTR Visa starts when ?
BrandonJT replied to frankstraube's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The 10 years starts the day the visa is issued. You must first apply for the visa with the BOI, and go through their application process online. Once they approve they will issue you an endorsement letter, and you can then apply to a Thai embassy through the e-visa system using the endorsement letter you received. Once the embassy issues the visa, it is good for 10 years from that date, though it's actually only going to allow you to enter Thailand for 5 years before you must re-qualify to receive your 2nd 5 years. Or you can apply online, and once the BOI approves your visa, you can then travel to Thailand and pickup the visa from the BOI office at One Bangkok. This is actually the method I recommend for 2 reasons. You will pay exactly 50,000 baht and won't have to pay the inflated visa price from a Thai embassy which in almost all cases will be more than 50,000 baht You will get an actual visa in your passport, so you don't have to carry a printed out PDF e-visa with you for 10 years. -

They've stated there will be an app in the future. That might come along with some type of account or profile, even if just saved on your device. -

Because the monthly transfers are a work-around for those who cannot get the income affidavit. If you can get the income affidavit, that's what you should do, and some immigration offices might even require that if you can get it. You also CANNOT use the monthly transfers for the first 1-year extension, whereas you CAN use the income affidavit for the first 1-year extension. The affidavit is better in all aspects. -
90 days non B visa cancellation
BrandonJT replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The agent you spoke to is correct. It's only the extension that needs to be cancelled. If you are still on the original 90-day non-B visa, then you do not need to cancel anything, and even if you resign you can stay until the end of your current 90-day non-B entry stamp. -
Good thing I wasn't talking to you. I was responding to the Op who clearly says they will be staying in Thailand about 10 months per year. Which means they will be going back and forth and can bring things over time. Learning to read and understand is an important skill in life. So is realizing that not everything is about YOU.

As most border bounce agents pre-clear the passports of their customers with the border ahead of time, I would assume, and hope, that the agent would just do the TDAC as part of that process since it's free, easy and fast. But hard to make assumptions when it comes to Thais as they don't tend to have motivation to go out of their way. It would expedite the process and prevent any issues from coming up though which would be beneficial to their operation.

That's the kicker. You never know what the exact import duties will be until they tell you. Because they are the ones that will determine the value of your belongings regardless of if they are used, you have receipts to show the price etc. They will tell you what the value is, and what you will have to pay.
