  1. The Elite visa is terrible value now 900k thb for 5 years, less terrible if you got years ago 20 years for just 100k thb more but very little benefit over spending 10k for 5 years DTV. Most smart people set up their companies in a low/no tax country and then live somewhere where offshore income isn't taxed (like Thailand at the moment). The elite visa makes no difference to tax. The Portuguese visa was the one to get with 0% tax on offshore money for 10 years and easy way to citizenship in an EU country. But that closed this year.
  2. I would list the parent company on the form as the employer, that would stand more chance of getting past the box ticker that is unable to apply logic or reasoning. Most big companies are a spiders web of different companies. There's not really a huge amount of difference really between the DTV and LTV work from Thailand professionals. Unless I'm missing something? Fast track is nice and access to better help and services with a more secure visa, but still not a world apart.
  3. Agree, the only tax benefit is that overseas isn't taxed, which many other countries offer and places in Europe offer a low tax to wealthy citizens. Singapore used to give out PR very easily, but it's far more difficult these days and their selection criteria is unclear. They have points but even if you meet all of those they often still reject, unlike other countries where if you have the points you get PR and a path to citizenship. SG has a quota for ethnicity and strict limits on PR, if you're Mayalsian you have by far the best chance. But people who have lived there for over 10 years, built up a business and raised children there still get rejected many times.
  4. Yes offshore accounts aren't in any way private or untraceable (that ended many years ago). But the point is it's not taxable unless it's brought into Thailand until taxation on worldwide income happens.
  5. You can change about 800 USD a time in Malaysia without a passport or about 3000 USD in SP without a passport, the small money changers in Thailand often don't ask for a passport. The big ones always do.
  6. My post has nothing to do with saying DTV people staying over 180 days don't have to pay tax? Everyone knows they do.
  7. And the best visa in Thailand is a low bar. LTR is good if you qualify for it due to an employer being publicly traded and 150million USD or are a highly skilled professional with existing work visa. For the wealthy LTR visas it's quite the gamble having to put so much money into Thailand to get it. Your investment could crumble or be untouchable at any time. Far safer and more stable places to go that offer a path to citizenship.
  8. Well you can't work in Thailand on a DTV other than abroad remote work, so any money earned doesn't need to be paid into a thai bank account. I can just take a short flight to another country, withdraw up to $20'000 USD from my Guernsey bank account where my company dividends are paid and Thailand can't trace or tax it. If I decide to pay tax in Thailand then I won't pay the 35% tax rate while the services received don't justify it.
  9. Lots of it is just clickbait and it's the normal weather.
  10. Yeah and it's a lot of work to get it (from people I know). Plus it's only to be used for 100% business reasons so while many get away with using it for tourism, it's probably not worth the risk of being hulled into an interrogation room if you flag up using it too much for certain places. Many countries have a scanning machine now so it doesn't save any time there and more are getting rolled out each year. BKK has them for exit now and probably will for entry next year.
  11. Yes there is only one answer to this question. Wont stop the nonsense social media posts. The only possible change could be the LTV requirements. They may generate more income with additional categories.
  12. More nonsense. It's for 5 years. There's no reapply if you leave and come back, you just get another 6 month passport stamp. Hardly anyone is going to bother to extend it and deal with that mess when they can just do a run.
  13. Thai elite would love to get a tax exemption, but it's not going to happen. That would undermine the far more important LTR visa and its 17% tax rate. Elite has had it's day with DTV being the final nail. If you really want the fast track immigration and limo you can pay for that twice a month and not even come close to the 30k they're wanting for it.
  14. Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook? No. Of course that's not happening. Just nonsense chatter online.
  15. I brought a suitcase back from Vietnam just full of groceries. I have easily paid for the flight alone several times in savings for stables for a few months. Thailand has now missed out on taxing this income that was never bought into Thailand and the revenue from spending locally. Everytime someone from Europe visits there's a handful of things they bring with them that are far cheaper over there (even things made in Thailand and Asia). I imagine the increased cost of Thailand thesedays is putting off a lot of tourists from returning as there's so many other options with more value.
  16. The UK is one of the better countries at it where loads of passports can use the egates for quick entry. It shouldn't be hard with the passports all standardised.
  17. luck of the draw, sometimes 5 mins sometimes 50 mins. Airports with egates I've never waited more than 5 mins. Often all done in 90 seconds.
  18. Moving from france to thailand makes me never buy wine here so the gov loses out on taxes. can't bring myself to pay the wine tax.
  19. Haven't flown Thai in years, not worth the premium they charge anyway. Air travel in general is unpleasant so I'll book the cheapest and save my money for worthwhile things
  20. No, Paris a fair bit more dangerous than London these days. Marseille is the worst place in western europe for crime per head.
  21. And that is just the youtube ad money. He'll aslo be given cash from brands, people pay money for memberships and loads of affilate links. So you can increase those earnings by 300%.
  22. No. Most countries don't issue exit stamps anymore where it's egates and record it all electronically. The EU is a rare exception and after the e gate you have to then line up for the stamp.
  23. The EU is already 3+ years late on their system. They should let people with long stay visas use the egates system first.
  24. New Zealand charges NZ $17 to apply and NZ $100 tourism charge from next week (increased from NZ $35)! That's the same cost as my 10 year passport cost!
  25. Agree, those days of the early 2000s wont be back but Thailand needs to understand with every year it has less pull factors. Being treated like a 3rd class citizen was acceptable when there were loads of other benefits to the country, but those have rapidly diminished.
