Sorry, I just have to ask. You are not able to keep track of what you order in your head?

Monger ghettos like Omni, Saranjai near Nana. Two large condo blocks on Blue line at Thai culture center (din daeng side). Anything past on nut will be more in that range. 40+ at 13-15k is doable. 50 is a stretch that only luck will bring. You must be aware of that condos are only available on 1yr lease. I suspect that any condo let for 6 months will be more expensive and they will probably take your deposit as well.

Is it worth having one short sighted eye corrected?
Chadnik replied to scubascuba3's topic in Health and Medicine
Never. The top line Lasik is like 90k at Bkk Hospital and similar TSRC. Think I'm just going to go for it. Thank you Sorry to hijack the thread -
If i must its Moccona espresso for me as well. When I looked some years ago I believe it was one of the coffees that also had the least amount of rubbish in it such as palm oil, sugar.

Is it worth having one short sighted eye corrected?
Chadnik replied to scubascuba3's topic in Health and Medicine
Answered my own question. Very possible. So, I have another question so I don't start another thread. Do I need to have my eyes checked or can I just buy 1.0 at Big C? At 60+ Im very ok pulling out reading glasses as needed. BTW whether you trust them or not there are many vendors on Shoppee selling B&L -

Is it worth having one short sighted eye corrected?
Chadnik replied to scubascuba3's topic in Health and Medicine
Why? Seems lots of top hospitals and a few clinics offering state of art. I'm considering this. I'm sick of wearing glasses. It is possible to correct long and short vision? I'm 2.25 short, 1.0+ long. Sorry for hijack question EDIT and sorry.. Is it possible to wear contacts for long vision but also use reading glasses with contacts in? Do you need to always remove nightly? Sorry again 🥺 -
Tests for Heart, High blood pressure issues
Chadnik replied to Chadnik's topic in Health and Medicine
Hi and thank you I think Hb1Ac may have been included in my last pathology clinic tests but uncertain. CAC - ok, thanks to you both. dydlipedemia .. no idea. But my cholesterol checks never been out of norm. Then when I was drinking more than I probably should my liver kidney tests always within range as well. Im on 20mg enalapril which I was in process of cutting in half before i had to change exercise routine. So, can i just shop for CAC and stress cardio and see what comes of that?? BMI is 22 Absolutely nothing has ever happened to me that would give me the belief that I have heart or coronary issues. My major concern is that my blood pressure can be high without the medicine hitting 140+/90. Normal with. Moderate exercise beyond walking i know i can bring it down. Currently walk about an hour a day.. dedicated, just shuffling about. -
Assume you need, want a larger screen. I'd recommend just getting a mid android tablet. I've barely used my laptop. * Don't buy a Samsung a7. I picked one up for 100 bucks in the States. It's a real disappointment. It's very laggy and while I didn't expect it to be fast I didn't expect it to lag either. If you absolutely have to have a Windows machine I'd look into mini PCs. Unless you're gaming or doing something with the need for graphics card the days of large PC cases are over

I would like to get some cardio and coronary tests done in January due to being over 60 and history of high blood pressure. Can anyone recommend a few tests that will really give me a picture of my heart / coronary health? I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money on this and would like to perhaps avail to any packages offered by eoy by bkk hospitals. I've had a few EKG done for a hernia operation last year. Dr said nothing. During the recovery I had a lot of heart challenges as gas in my body was extremely painful and moving around was challenging for my heart due to the pain and drama I'm getting in and out of the hospital bed. I was in pretty good shape last year when I had that done. The high blood pressure which I believe is largely metastatic although some of it genetic. I believe this because when I was monitoring my blood pressure I was getting fit I noticed it was definitely dropping and found a new equilibrium much lower Overall, I'm in good health and people often guess I'm five and even ten years younger than I am. My alcohol intake is now quite limited. I have a history of smoking cigarettes, but that stopped thirty years ago although I did smoke randomly through the next 15 years. I can hold my breath for about a minute freediving to 15m with fins. I walk about an hour a day / 7500+ steps minimum M-F There's nothing in my life currently or in the past it would indicate to me that I have any heart issues or coronary blockage. Finally, i have had random pathology tests done over the years and nothing indicates disease, admittedly these are more liver, kidney and random tests. - Sugar is on the higher side of normal - Cholesterol has always been fine. Diet is ok. I could eat more leafy greens and less fried Thai food and quick ham sandwiches but oh well Probably more information than you need 🙏 Thank you Bangkok hospital, labs only if also recommending location EDIT Estimates on reasonable cost for exams and procedures would be greatly appreciated

I presume you do need bank statement and letter for retirement extension, so you are incorrect incorrecting me. These were items that I believe off the top of my head are required for marriage extension, yet not required for a retirement Visa extension I just rattle these things off the top of my head I didn't expect it to be scrutinized and believe I stated as much

I wouldn't disagree with this snide, cynical comment, but personally, my wife's been great. No doubt I'd have cirrhosis of liver and probably innumerable social diseases by now. She's opened a door to another life experience and by and large it's been a great ride. Incidentally, in comparing attractiveness of my wife as an example to pub girls in Bangkok she's better looking even at 48 than 90%. Oh, if that's your pool of opportunities I would say I'm not missing anything in that department personally Just gotta keep your pimp hand strong 💪

Having never made a retirement visa and not knowing the requirements and I'm guessing here 1 ID card 2 Housebook 3 Name change if any 4 Sign some silly promissory documents 5 Photos 6 KR2 It's nothing. Other than the photos and kr2 nothing changes and you can make photocopies that can be stashed for years

Marriage visa is half the money in the bank. IMO family visas / extension are the most respected from immigration. We saw during the dread COVID farce that retirees and those on fancy visas were not allowed in or otherwise curtailed. You go before the immigration officer and you're either sitting with your legal partner of many years which is respected or you're just another punter on a retirement visa. I've been doing this for well over 10 years and have run into very few problems. The last 5 years has been quite straightforward and the past year too has practically been perfunctory. 15 mins going through paperwork, another 15 minutes waiting to tie things up and I'm usually out and anywhere between 35 and 45 minutes after the wait time Once you sort the paperwork out its just a thing. Typical Thai tedious bureaucracy. Question is not how much nonsense you have to go through to make the family Visa, but rather how much more it might be over the retirement option. Regardless, put the money in the bank and sleep well. Seems like not a week goes by and some punter is crying that the auto deposit missed one day and now his extension is all screwed up. Is routine drama on TV Finally, as someone stated prior using the deposit method for retirement visa extension needs to be set up a year in advance. Refer to some other maniacs that have done this I have nothing to add in this matter. * No ridiculous home visit // money grubbing in BKK Hope this helps EDIT Your wife will have to take off from work one day a year. They're up in CW quite early but in the last two or three years we've been out before 10:30 a.m. so she could easily way to work

Thanks everyone. Ive done some checking about and looks like the better, current technologies are about 70-160k. That is probably excluding lower cost traditional Lasik and PRK although they still seem to be performed today here and abroad. I'm a bit surprised at the small cost difference in some procedures compared to US. I'm not interested in Pattaya, thanks for the input and recommendation.

Does anyone have an idea of current price? I have notes from 2020 for a few places and running about 85-120k. Thank you

Don’t kill the golden goose! Tax reforms may drive away expats
Chadnik replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Expatriate income is finite. What the government takes is not spent into the economy assisting family, local businesses, hospitals, aesthetic clinic, education, parks, entertainment It just disappears I don't even have permeant residency or even resident visa extension. I report to police every 90 days.
