  1. Waiting for the "waaa waaa - this is going to kill the tourism industry in Thailand" posts that usually follow any announcement that there will be a (one day) ban on alcohol sales.

Not sure what surprises me more, that the tourism industry in Thailand hasn't died, despite all of the different "no alcohol" days that happen every year, or the number of people who get so upset over the idea that the government won't let them buy booze on those days (and they apparently are totally unable to buy any in advance themselves). The horror, the HORROR !!

So Wat (Temple wai.gif ) is the big deal, just take a few bottles home like a good Christen and do not drink and drive bah.gif

If you are a Buddhist, may the good Lord protect you and please do not drink and drive. coffee1.gif

  2. The obvious missing item was a travel adapter, you do need a travel adapter if come from the UK!

You know you can buy those here too, right?

You're missing the point there. The adapter you can buy in Thailand is made to adapt Thai plugs to other countries electrical outlets.

    To clarify, here's a pix of a British 3-pin plug: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/95/BritishPlugforWikipedia.jpg

And here's the equivalent Thai version: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/51/Thai_TIS_166-2549_mains_plug.jpg

As you can see, the spacing between the pins is entirely different.

I meant the one for British plugs. Commonly available around these parts.

Thanks for the photo of a British plug, though. I've only been using them my whole life, after all...

Costs me 25 baht (Mingya) Til Ying Type, Multi-Purpose Soeket, fits 14 types of plugs and they fit both of the plugs in the photos by the wayw00t.gif

It is a Great place to relax, take in the History of Kan, not just WWII by the way, to visit and see what Kan has to offer. thumbsup.gif

We do have quite a few Day Trippers in from BKK don't we swissie just for a short time w00t.gif

As for JAS21 photo, that is on the other side of the river from Kan town. Clue = the Mountains in the back ground. facepalm.gif

  6. Did you know there is a tiger facility in khao yai np ? Maybe they will end up there.

firstly I don't think they are being moved and secondly there are over one hundred Tigers - do you think they have room there? what sort of "facility" is it?

My guess it would a POW Camp blink.png or even worse a Refugee Camp. sad.png

  7. Try a Termite repellent spray, the one that really stinks, orange and yellow label with a fine nose sprout that you could spray into any nock or crany , they hate the smell of it as do snakes also, works for me in Kan. thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

If I remember, will take a photo of this spray can and the other cans etc. that I use to repel mossies indoor and outdoor.
