I did not join for any Visa related things as one did not require any, however I did find in those long gone days a forum (how I found it ???? blink.png Too many a beer have gone by) which was the first one that I joined after reading the posts coffee1.gif (free of those trolls that are here now) found the trolls on other forums hence no posts over there. sick.gif

So how did I choose Kan Win ? Easy and simple really. whistling.gif

Kan is short for Kanchanaburi just west of Bangkok where we (my wife and I) have a home, working in Bangkok and week-ends in Kan.

So there was me thinking ahhhhh Kan and then my first three letters in my passport W.I.N.

OK, so now should I call myself. blink.png

I-Kan Win, no, too much in the face for forum members.sad.png

    What about

U-Kan Win, once again no. So then it became Kan Win, sometimes I win w00t.gif and most of the time I lose. crying.gif

    Now you all know.thumbsup.gif

  3. Is this site, driving everyone to drink ? biggrin.pngwhistling.gif

Re Tywais's comment, I am sure Phuket does have some nice off beat areas... it's the same here on Samui, Chawang does give Samui a bit of a bad rap!! ..... But most of the island is beautiful !

In the next month or two I am going to make it a mission to see the Provincial Flower of Surrathanii, at Khao Sok Provincial Park ....(when I hear it is in bloom, I have spies looking!!!) ....It is closer to Phuket than Surrathanni town, so I just might pop down and give Phuket a quick boo!!! w00t.gif

I think I would rather hike through Khao Sok Provincial park!!! wink.pngsmile.png

    Take a trip to

    large.jpg

Tourists who visit the Surat Thani area are stopping over on their way either to Koh Samui or to Phuket.

If you are in this area one attraction is a must to see "The Rajjaprabha Dam" (also called Chieo Lan Dam). It is secluded and undiscovered by tourists.

The dam is located in the Khao Sok National Park, on Road 401 to Phuket off the main Route 41 going south.

Hire a long tail boat for a hour trip or so if you wish as long as the weather is good.

and please drive down this road also to see the other part.

    Huay Mae Khamin Waterfall

    Level Four.

This place is in Kanchanaburi Province. Go to Erawan Waterfall and just passed that there is a turn off to your left to Srinakharin Dam National Park. Only 42 kms thereafter on a very rough no tarmac road you will reach it. This was my second time there, but went there on that rough road. Near on 2 hours on that road to go 42 kms. I would not advise this road. Use the other route.

    See below:-

The first time, I went the long way around on an easier way, on two ferries across the Srinakarin Reservoir. Great views there as well along that way. Go during the "Rainy Season" then the Waterfall should be as full as you have see in my photo.

Should you wish to go there, take a Thai with you that knows the area and way.

Took me 4 hours there, 1 click as you saw, 4 hours back with a whole group of people. On your own it should not take you that long.
