The OP is travelling on his bike and not requesting anything else about bikes, so why point him in the wrong direction. This about TRAVEL in Thailand.
To the OP hope you enjoyed Kan

Do you know there is a dedicated motorbike forum on ThaiVisa? On the main forum page, scroll down to the "Business in Thailand, Jobs in Thailand" section and you'll find "Bikes in Thailand".
I am not sure why it is under Business, but you'll find many bikers there.

Thank you 'Boycie' for the info. Wondered what it was doing behind the BIG Blue & White Bus, just next door to the K-Bank at the main traffic lights.

Super and Great photos "angiud" and thank you for the tip below.
In, Kan we do not have such light coloured butterfly only the dark, black ones. Some very little ones are yellow, but to catch them in flight or make "Hey" as you posted near impossible.
Win
I don't use baits, but other 'professional' butterfly lovers successfully use both rotten fruit (banana, pineapple, papaya, etc) or the smelly shrimp paste, both very effective, but only with some species, not with every kind.

Hi Tywais,
Flowers really need a DOF to show their full blossom. Yours in my view only shows the "tip of the Ice Berg" and not the whole flower.
Try, say f11 or more and not too cloose as you Kan crop a photo of that size to get what you want out of it.
I have the same flowers as well btw. They should repel snakes ?!?
Good post and wish you the very best with your new camera.
BTW just as an experiment take the same photo with your old P&S if you still have one and look at the results!!!!! Makes you think twice???

Here is another shot of the same thing and same day/time but with my 100-300mm (200-600 35mm equivalent) lens. Curious as to the background just completely disappearing into black though I like the effect.

300mm (600 35mm equivalent). Obviously had to step quite a way back for this one. Scaled down only for the forum.
//Edit - looks like a change in the system software. Tried to upload a 2048 pixel wide (494kB) image to match the first one but it gets downsized to 1200. It is equally as sharp focused as the 1st one but harder to compare due to the scale difference.

Ayuttaya Temple Roots
Buddha head overgrown by a fig in Wat Mahatat in Ayutthaya historic park, Thailand.
Though the body is gone, the sandstone head is entrapped in the roots and lies beneath a Bodhi tree in the vicinity of Wat Mahathat in Ayutthaya. This piece of ancient antique is extremely precious albeit it is trapping under a tree. Look and appreciate but no touching please so that this piece of ancient-natural arts is preserved for everybody's enjoyment.
The construction of Wat Mahathat begun during the reign of King Borommarachathirat I in 1374 A.D. but completed during the reign of King Ramesuan (1388-1395 A.D.) The architecture of Wat Mahatat had several prangs of Khmer style. While the octagonal chedis showed the influence of Ceylonese.

Hi Tywais,
I used me 100-300mm to get the photo that I posted, however was much closer than "few hundred meters away", more like 10 to 20 meters away.

At the same time I got this one also both where in a battle for this ones nest.

Hi Tywais,

I can't match you guys and don't know how you can get such closeup shots. Below I took today with my 100-300 (200-600 35mm equiv) set at 300 (600mm) and this guy is out my backdoor but a couple of hundred meters away. The nice feature is the mirror reflection in the water. There is a 2nd smaller bird in the front left and also mirror reflection in the water. The image is cropped about 50% and scaled down to fit.

I can't find anything along the river, which would have been nice, and all the housing around town seems to be for sale only.
Sure, along the river, would be very nice to rent, however, folks that own and have these houses like my wife and I live in them.
So to answer your very good question:-
Rent a house in Kan:-
Why would one buy a plot of land next to the River, build a house (3-6 mil or more) and then rent it out??? Makes no sense to me as this is a week-end river holiday place to relax not too far from BKK.
There are a few places around like "Thai Town Houses". Just go and look around if you or/and your partner reads and speak Thai.
