Most people seem to think gold and oil is going up - but what stocks to buy to profit on that trend?
My view is that major oil companies are fairly valued if you assume average oil prices over the next few years will be $50-60. I think that oil prices will fall but will remain above the $50-60 level so oil companies are good value.
However, I think commodity price could fall sharply and given major cost pressure and believe shares in mining companies are too expensive (I have had this view for 2 years and have as far been wrong)

I was offered 1,000 baht by one of their salesmen to attend a presentation. I think that he know that lived in Jomtien and therefore would not be interested in buying a timeshare here

I have also been told that it is a fairly common arrangment that if a short term loan is made to someone who is paid a salary by trasfer into their bank then the lender will hold the bank book and ATM card and make a withdrawal on pay-day themself.

The simple answer to the original question is that you cannot go to jail over an unpaid debt unless there is evidence that the loan was obtained by fraud.
If you are not totally sure that she is lying to you, then I suggest that you agree to help her by finding and paying for a lawyer to help negotiate with the bank on her behalf.

Given that Bunrungrad Hospital closed on Friday at 40.5. I am not sure why you are thinking about buying if your valuation is 31.
13 Thai Stockbrokers cover BH. The target values are in the range of 30-59.88 with a median of 47. Hence, your valuation conservative compared with analysts view.
However, Kim Eng and Far East Securities both issued revised profit forecasts on 18 December and both forcast that 2008 profits will be sharply lower than 2007 (Kim Eng 2008 - 1,315m v 2007 - 1,907m and FES 2008 - 1,320m v 2007 1,952m). I have not seen the reports so cannot say if there are one off iems to explain the forecast fall. However your comment that earning aregrowing at 40% should more acculated by that earning had been growing by 40%.
I have never looked at this company in any detail. However, my initial view would be that it is a well run, strongly growing business with a share price which seems to more or less properly reflect the growth prospects. I would think you can find better value elsewhere.

I also use Seamico Securities. Have no expereince of any other firms so hard to compare. However, Seamico appear to be well organised to deal with foreign clients

So. Vietnam
Vungtau has a good mix of night life and beach, although the beach is not that great, but a little better on the back beach. Probably the closest you will find to Pattaya, and 1:20min by boat from HCMC.
Better beaches are Phan Tiet/Mui Ne & Nha Trang, but not a great night life.
Mid. Vietnam
Understand there are some good ones outside Danang, but never really explored them.
No. Vietnam
Ha Long Bay is great, also a world heritage sight.
Doson beach just outside of Haiphong is very cheap, particularly if you are looking for company.
Islands
Phu Quoc & Con Dao. Phu Quoc is the more developed of the two, but both are very nice.
Please could you provide some more details about DoSon beach including accomadation recommendation.
I am planning a trip to Hanoi in January. I have a copy of loney planet's Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos and DoSon is not even mentioned

You will not be able to open a checking account.
Try Siam Commerical Bank on Jomtien Beach Road (The branch near to the Jomtien Grand Palace Hotel)
Very helpful to falang customers. When I opened an account in March this year, they only looked at the photo page of my passport and did not check my Visa status

In am interested in where investors think that the market will open tomorrow.
DTAC, which is listed in both Bangkok and Singapore, is currently 7.6% lower in Singapore trading - is this a one-off or well we see big falls on the market tomorrow.
On the other hand Aberdeen New Thai, an investment trust listed in London is quoted up 0.6% after the first half hour of trading in the UK.

As well as an export agent, you will need for find an agent in the UK to deal with the customs clearance, health inspection and payment of import duty and VAT.
-
It will still be busy. The number of Russians visiting Pattaya has been increasing rapidly and Orthodox Christmas is on 7 January.

The maximum credit limit that Thai banks will grant on credit card account is five times monthly salary.
If this lady does owe 300,000 this means that she previously had a regular income of at least 60,000 baht per month.
-
I beleive that these are four options. Only will be built
-
I cannot understand why you are considering dealing with a developer who will not provide an answers to your questions

Open an account with a stockbroker.
Seamico Securities (www.seamico.co.th) seems to be well set up for dealing with foreign clients

Given the electoral system an outright win by either PPP or Democrats is highly unlikely. This means the there is a high chance that the shape of the next government might not be known for some time after the election day. This uncertainty could lead to weak markets for a period of time.
However, my view is the election results rarely have much long term impact on market. I beleive that global stock markets are fairly cheap at present and that the Thai market is cheap relative to global markets. I would expect the SET to be 1000-1050 at the end of next year whoever win the election (20%-25% higher than now)

Yes - bank deposits currently have an unlimited guarantee from the Financial Institutions Development Fund.
There are proposals that in five years time the level of insurance coverage will be capped at 1.0 million baht per customer
-
Yes - the Thai Government does issue 3 year savings bonds. There is an issue every month and they are sold though branchs of Bangkok Bank. They return about 0.25% above the yield on a standard government bond of the duration. On the last issue the yield was 4.25%
They are only available to Thai citizens and those with perminant residency

I live in Thabali
Have you checked with the management office
When the development was built they reserved enough lines for the likely needs of the residents. Not sure whether these have been used or taken back by TT&T but worth checking
-
I assume that the land that is being acquired for the road is part of the Common Area of the condo. What will happen to money that will be paid for it? Are the management company proposing a distrubution to co-owners?
-
I also looked at this development. My view was the the rpice was too high given the location
-
I had heard that there have been some concerns about the management of this Condo. However, I am not sure whether any concerns are valid.
I suggest that you ask the management office to supply accounts and minutes of recent Executive Committee meetings

I own TFUND, FUTUREPF, SIRIPF and SPF. They are listed on the SET so you need to have a Thai stockbroker to deal. They have dividend yields in the range of 7.25% to 9.9% (although FUTUREPF and SPT own leasehold not freehold property so the yields effectively include a return of capital as well as income). In my view these funds provide an excellent risk/reward balance.
