The Dangerous Prospect of RFK Jr.'s Influence on Global Health
pattayasan replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The US had horrendous death stats only because Trump downplayed the virus and worked against measures to combat it. Every other peer nation did far better. Australia was a case in point where the virus was taken seriously. -
Mass deportations won't happen and here's why. President-elect Donald Trump’s plans to institute across-the-board tariffs and mass deportation of undocumented immigrants will likely usher in the unintended consequence of “soaring inflation,” according to a Noble Prize-winning economist, who added that grocery and housing prices will specifically be affected. “If these workers are deported, the food industry will probably have great difficulty replacing them,” Krugman wrote Monday, noting that undocumented immigrants also play a major part in food processing. “Even in the best case, the industry will have to offer much higher wages — and, of course, these higher wages will be passed on in higher prices.” https://www.rawstory.com/trump-economy-2669804290/ and if they did happen the Republicans would just bring them back in just as fast as they were removed. During the entirety of the Operation {wetback], border recruitment of illegal workers by American growers continued, due largely to the low cost of illegal labor, and the desire of growers to avoid the bureaucratic obstacles of the Bracero program. The continuation of illegal immigration, despite the efforts of Operation Wetback, along with public outcry over many US citizens removed, was largely responsible for the failure of the program. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Wetback

No wonder Trump won. Nearly half of all the unauthorized migrants now living in the United States entered the country legally through a port of entry such as an airport or a border crossing point where they were subject to inspection by immigration officials, according to new estimates from the Pew Hispanic Center. As much as 45% of the total unauthorized migrant population entered the country with visas that allowed them to visit or reside in the U.S. for a limited amount of time. Known as “overstayers,” these migrants became part of the unauthorized population when they remained in the country after their visas had expired. https://www.pewresearch.org/race-and-ethnicity/2006/05/22/modes-of-entry-for-the-unauthorized-migrant-population/

President Joe Biden's Historical Legacy is Ruined

But the League of Conservation Voters gave him a 14 percent lifetime score for his votes against numerous environmental bills. While he [Zeldin] voted in 2020 to support greater regulation of “forever chemicals,” also known as PFAS or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, he voted against closing a loophole in the Clean Water Act that allows companies to discharge unlimited amounts of PFAS into waterways. “A 14 percent lifetime score is not what you want from someone who could potentially be charged with protecting the air we breathe, protecting the water we drink and fighting the climate crisis,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, senior vice president for government affairs at the League of Conservation Voters. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2024/11/11/trump-epa-lee-zeldin/ -

Smells like de facto modern day slave labour to me. You advocate paying them peanuts to maintain the profits of wealthy farmers? -
What is one thing you learned from lefties?

Trump's first round of tax cuts and stimmy checks to big business caused inflation in the first place. His second round of tax cuts will rocket inflation and interest rates, trashing the economy in the process. The US 2 year yield is going up like a skyrocket, anticipating the inflation to come. Americans might fill the jobs previously done by illegal immigrants but only if they pay better. That's why they were filled by illegals before. Guess what higher wages does? -
Care to guess how many immigrants Trump has deported by the end of his first 100 days in office? How many wars he's stopped? How many items he has placed tariffs on? What the inflation rate and interests rates will be?

I have no trouble believing that Trump's supporters had no idea what they were voting for. This was an election brought to you by Citizens United and dark money billionaires.

Seems like all of Trumps campaign promises will turn out to be hollow lies. Nasaw believes that Musk's departure is particularly likely given that he has positioned himself as a prospective budget-cutting tsar whose plans would deliver economic havoc on the country. https://www.rawstory.com/elon-musk-trump-2669744620/

It's not surprising Trump was elected.

Can I stop holding my breath waiting for you to articulate a single lie told by Harris yet?

Trump's first move could doom his presidency Donald Trump has a new dilemma to face as he prepares to start a second term, former conservative turned anti-Trump columnist Jennifer Rubin wrote for The Washington Post — abandon his promises, or let them destroy his fledgling administration. He could, for example, enact draconian, across-the-board tariffs; begin massive roundups and deportations of law-abiding 'dreamers;' repeal the Affordable Care Act and major bipartisan legislation passed under President Joe Biden; and enact a new round of massive tax cuts for big corporations and wealthy individuals," wrote Rubin — but in doing so he would "make himself extremely unpopular, induce economic and social chaos and create political problems for his party in the 2026 midterms." https://www.rawstory.com/trump-promises-immigration/?utm_source=superhead

You need to say what her lie is and prove it. I can say Trump eats babies but it doesn't make it true.
-
Again? You haven't shown anybody lied about anything yet. Except Trump.
-
You said Harris lied. What was that about? Now, when challenged you come up empty handed and spewing bile.
-
I thought you wouldn't try to cough up a lie. 30,000 to zero. You can';t even find and link a single lie. Shame.
-
They won't be. Trump will make a show of deporting a handful of illegal immigrants as they are caught breaking laws but nothing more. Most are long-term residents - nearly four-fifths have been in the country for more than a decade. Immigrants who are in the country without legal status have the right to due process, including a court hearing before their removal. A drastic increase in deportations would likely entail a large expansion in the immigration court system, which has been beset by backlogs. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce9z0lm48ngo

"There's good people on both sides".

Tell me ONE Harris lie. With proof. After that, I'll link to 30,000 Trump lies.

I do care about anyone lying. Weird that you should complain about Harris lying.
