  1. They hate the Israelis with a vengeance, but it all goes out of the window if they can get their end away.
  2. Yes, the hate in their faces at the exchanges is telling. Unfortunately they are all potential Hamas recruits and why Israel will never be able to destroy Hamas.
  3. Surprised it is as young 55, that’s 23 years claiming a pension assuming average life expectancy of Thai’s and a great drain on the public purse. Most Thai’s would not have the funds by that age to support themselves in retirement at that age. It’s currently 66 in the UK and in May 2026 it goes up to 67.
  4. I didn’t realise that as many as 7000 terrorists were involved. On top of the evil mentioned in the article, they also randomly killed non Jews and took them prisoner for the crime of being in Israel at the wrong time. They really didn’t care about the ethnicity who they murdered.
  5. When you speak out against immigration in the UK you run the risk of being called racist. As is the case with Nigel Farage being held up as a racist. However, you can't dispute the facts that, the majority of these immigrants are more likely than British nationalities to be arrested: The centre for migration control released this data collected from every Police force in England and Wales. Arrest rates per 1000 people British 12 Somalis 64.6 Moroccans 70 Algerians 72.7 Iraqis 92.9 Afgahans 106.9 Albanians 209.8 The Albanians have many drug gangs in the UK, so it was no surprise they topped the list. However, 1 in 5 arrested is worrying.
  6. We have a friend in Sweden and with all the additional migrants locally, she will not go out in the evening for fear of the male groups that gather. I feel sorry for the locals, as I would certainly not want my wife going out around that village if we lived in Wethersfield.
  7. I did a timed prebooked Bolt airport trip recently in Malaysia. I saw the driver was paying for motorway tolls and thought I'd give him a large tip to cover the tolls as well. Shortly after I got a message with increased charges from Bolt. As I was leaving the country, I just left it.
  8. It is a shame that in reality the minimum wage doesn't apply to everyone. The security guards at a Condo I stayed in are being paid below the existing minimum wage and work 12 hour shifts 7 days a week with no holiday pay. They suck it up because they need the income.
  9. There are 1.76 million people in the UK claiming benefits for mental health or behavioural conditions as their primary ailment. Seems like a lot of people see it as an easy way to fleece the UK taxpayer. All the more amazing you can move to certain countries and still be allowed to claim it, although Thailand is not one.
  10. "She assured that she regularly checks with nearby residents and has received feedback indicating minimal disturbance." Somehow I think it was a small sample size and she didn't check with everyone that was affected, particularly the person who sent the letter.
  11. The aforementioned Frasers in Jomtien is a good option. Plenty of screens that can show different sport simultaneously and the owner is very accommodating to customers. We have always been able to get a seat there in about 8-10 visits.
  12. Conflicting reports as usual. One stated he hung himself on the cell door with a towel. It would take an almighty effort to hang yourself from that height, and surely the last thing he would use would be a towel, that makes it even harder, if not impossible.
  13. It would be pretty idiotic for Ukraine to be behind this as Musk would likely block their use of Starlink as a payback. More probable, in my view, it was a Russian based attack, trying to get the blame attributed to Ukraine.
  14. Not very Suttle asking outright for the 8k. She could have just mentioned her Mothers expenses and left it to your conscience. I would jog on, plenty more fish in the sea.
  15. These Government projects always go over budget and face unforeseen delays. If it ever gets started, there will be continual updates about delays and unforeseen costs.
  16. When she gets back to the UK, she will no doubt be appearing on Celebrity Big Bother.
  17. In one of the various reports, I believe the elderly British couple were reported as saying their neighbours only suffered minor injuries from a "friend" of theirs. I am wondering if this is referring to a later incident where a "friend" subsequently got involved. Pretty typical conflicting reports with some saying a Thai beat up the elderly couple and others saying it was a Brit.
  18. The trouble is many innocent people were killed. I remember reading a number of cases where bystanders were killed by Cops. One of the cases concerned a young girl killed on a motorbike when the police shot at her Father who was driving. A number of Cops used the clampdown as an excuse to settle old scores, not drug related. Also seems a bit harsh to shot and kill small time recreational drug users. I have visited Cebu in the Philippines many times with my wife and can’t say I ever felt threatened or unsafe prior to Duterte becoming President.
  19. Putin would like to take the whole of Ukraine, he has said Ukraine is not a real country, it is historically Russian. He doesn’t have the military capacity at the moment, he needs North Korean troops and Iranian drones to keep his war machine ongoing. He doesn’t want peacekeepers so that later he can come back for the rest of Ukraine, once he has rearmed.
  20. Russians do attack and kill Ukrainians at will, they have attacked hospitals and many, many residential areas. Do you not remember the massacres that took place on occupied Russian areas in Ukraine that they blamed on the UK? They have also been enforcing conscription in Ukrainian areas they control and sending them in the meat grinder. Out of interest, would you be in favour of Putin being allowed a clean slate for the killing he has unleashed?
  21. If the aim is to save lives, stopping the flow of information to Ukraine will have the opposite effect. Stopping the supply of defensive Patriot missiles to protect against incoming missiles will also cost lives. The Russians are now going after the Patriot launch systems, so Ukraines ability to defend itself, and save lives, is now being permanently degraded.
  22. Trump stated at his last meeting he wants to save lives. If that is the case, I can't understand: 1) the withdrawal of the intelligence sharing with Ukraine; The advance warning of incoming Russian missiles will now result in additional Ukrainian injuries and deaths. 2) the cessation of ALL military aid. If he wants to save lives, why not allow the provision of defensive missiles like the Patriot missiles.
  23. Thanks for all the replies, your help and advice is most appreciated. We do plan to live long term in Thailand. Assuming we are not tied to the list of approved suppliers, does anyone have recommendations for medical cover? Having been to Thailand 3 times in the last 3 years, and witnessed the driving🫣, we would be happier with insurance.
