  1. Given the reporting that Thai Immigration were clamping down hard on multiple Visa exempt arrivals and I was planning a 90 day trip including out of Thailand trips it seemed prudent to get a visa. Over on Trip Advisor they seem to be saying the clamp down is just an internet myth and trips out of the country and land border crossings are business as usual. What is the current situation. I don't want to risk a 90 day trip relying on an extension or a second or third visa exempt entry then get refused re-entry.
  2. They themselves said that they needed two terms to turn things around. In other words come the next election we will be in the deep do do. So zero chance of re-election.
  3. Just look at a comparison site of 12 polling sites. Cons Range 16%-22% at election 24% Labour Range 14%-22% at election 35% LD Range 11%-15% at election 13% Greens 9%-19% at election 7% Reform 25%-33% at election 155 Right at election time voters tend to drift back to the two main parties but Conservatives are down on what they even got at the election. So even with voter dissatisfaction with Labour their popularity is still falling. Labour are well down, surprise surprise. LDs about the same Greens up. Reform well up. Yes I suppose people can keep telling themselves at the election Reform popularity will fall off a cliff. Let's see what happens over the next 3 and half years. I certainly can't see Labour improving, if at all. And the Conservatives are still going the wrong way, even with Labour popularity fallen off a cliff. My bet it will be a hung Parliament then we will see where the alliances form. Looks like Reform and Conservatives.
  4. Isn't the hypocrisy of the party is power of more concern than the party that has a handful of MPs.
  5. Sounds just like the sort of person that successive Governments want as British Citizens. And the Government just attack Reform and white people who make racist comments.
  6. What has another country got to do with it?
  7. Only resident in another country? Or in another country while a UK citizen. If I make offensive or illegal comments on social media while resident in Thailand does that mean the UK authorities wont touch me?
  8. Musk isn't a UK citizen so no question that the same terms apply.
  9. Anybody like to guess how long before the fighting starts again?
  10. Doesn't the US screen all international transit arrivals?
  11. No sympathy there for the poor tortoise.
  12. The letter mentions proof of financial resources. Why would security be asking about funds?
  13. And even if they can speak it can they read it? Reading it is probably far more important in business than the ability to speak it.
  14. If you read history I think you will find that Europeans discovered the island of Taiwan before the Chinese did. The island was and still is inhabited by aboriginal people. So if anybody has a right to Taiwan it isn't China. But since when did that get in the way of China grabbing anything that it fancies, Tibet, South China Sea. They had a go at Vietnam but got their ar5e5 kicked. At best around the 16th/17th century mainland Chinese started to settle on the island. The local war lord paid homage to the Emperor. But it was just that, an Emperor. The sovereignty claim is extremely weak.
  15. Putonghua is the Mandarin dialect of Beijing. Never the less the official language of China is Mandarin. There is no such language as "Chinese" although I get a lot of people say they speak Chinese.
  16. Can you be more specific when you say speak Chinese. The official language of the PRC is Mandarin. Many Chinese don't speak Mandarin.
  17. The editors certainly messed up but I am amazed that the programme makers thought that they would get away with this in the first place. BBC employees need to remember who they are. They can't cart blanche do what the hell they like. There are certain standards that they must maintain. Seems like the BBC management need to exercise a bit more control. If this had been for a satirical comedy it would actually have been quite good. But it was supposed to be the news not satire.
  18. "“Despite a hugely competitive market, I am proud that the BBC remains the most trusted news brand globally." I forgot about the shameful Cliff Richard incident. Then there was this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-57163815 Now Bashir is a fraudster.
  19. The BBC needs to stop living in cloud cuckoo land. For some time I would not trust a word that they say. Try making a complaint about an inaccurate or completely wrong item and see where it gets you.
  20. What is illegal. Using a VPN in Florida or watching the BBC on a VPN.
  21. It is very common in English to refer to somebody as a fraud, ie misrepresenting themselves, but not doing it for financial gain. Example, Kier Starmer is a fraud representing himself as somebody who gives a damn.
