If you have enough experience just lie on your resume.
Choose a city, a university and a course - put it on your CV and forget about it.
For somebody in their 20's, they are likely to check - but for somebody mid 30's plus it is experience that matters.
You seem like a decent bloke so it might not sit well with you to be dishonest but hey, if that's what it takes to get on in life and you are confident enough in your abilities then go for it, you have nothing to lose.

99.99% of ALL women marry for status and a lot of that is $$$.
Its the nature of the beast.
Even if that was true (which it isn't) then what percentage of women worldwide are as thick, as conditioned and as unenlightened as this lot?

I see it more as a choice of last resort for many Thai females.
You see it or they see it?
I've never had a bad experience with a Thai woman in my 14 years here but I only dated one for about 6 months back in 2007.
She was nice, educated, pleasant enough woman but like most of them she didn't really know who she was and was irreparably conditioned by her culture, despite many years living overseas.
Spend five minutes watching any daytime TV show and ask yourself what growing up with that would do to a person.
I have nothing against the Thais but to date one would be a last resort for me.

Had some new tan shoes polished last night.
Didn't really need them polished but figured it would be good for the leather and would help the enterprising polisher guy who's working not begging.
Thing is, I preferred them before. They look too dark now, brown pretty much.
I have given them a good buff with an old white tee shirt but this hasn't done much to restore the tan colour.
Apparently saddle soap and vodka is what I need. This will restore most of the area to its orignal state and leave some of the difficult to reach areas darker, which I don't mind. That would be quite a nice effect.
Cheers

This is a Thai brand that was recommended to me.
I have not noticed them before, has anyone bought, seen or used this luggage brand?
-
Cheers, just what I was after.

To my knowledge, a British national must apply for a visa in advance for China and Vietnam.
Thailand, Japan, Malaysia and all the other countries in Asia/SE Asia are, to the best of my knowledge, VOA.
However, I am not sure about Taiwan or (South) Korea and would like confirmation on this.
All I can find on Google is that a pre-aranged visa is only required for China, Vietnam, Mongolia and Cambodia - that's for a US citizen.

Try this in On-nut. http://www.sarannuch.com/index.php
Thanks, I know this place and had forgotten about it. I used to eat at the cafe out the back as I knew the Canadian owner.
Back in 2009 it was out of my budget but I could probably stretch to it now.
-
Thanks i'll try that last one.
I've lived in 3 different apartments in On Nut over the years and new apartments are going up all the time.
Soi 77 will be gridlock very soon. I did look at a new one today on Soi 50 but it's out of my range.
Keep 'em coming...

I am put off by the fact that 80% claim to be 'a simple girl' as if this is something of a self selling point.
They may as well say 'plain' or 'dull'.

Can't think of any. Asiatique perhaps, though the ferris wheel is temporary I think.
What are you using? An octocopter?
-
I don't think there's any BTS or MRT in that area but I might be wrong.
I should also mention that I know most of the links and websites but I'm after personal recommendations.
In the case of a personal recommendation of an apartment/condo or area as suggested above. Give me a station and i'll just head on out there and look around.
-
Requirements...
Not far to a BTS/MRT station - or a klong boat stop. (Just thought of that, been here years and always overlook the canals)
Gym & Pool
Housekeeping or maid/laundry service
In an area with a nearby market and plenty of places to eat cheaply
Decent WIFI
Secure & safe etc..
Would be great if...
I can get a 1 bedroom for that much.
Or a kitchen.
Has a balcony.
It's own eatery.
Don't wanna deal with no agents.
Cheers SB

Air Asia, it should be alright, it was the last time I flew with them.
Thanks for the reassurances, its good to double check these things.

I return to Thailand tonight (from China) but am waiting on confirmation on a trip to Korea in about 3 weeks so don't yet have a ticket.
Is this going to be an issue at immigration? I am sure I have entered Thailand before from Europe and the US without an onward ticket, and even after a Cambodia visa run during an extended stay (I'm on a tourist visa between jobs but still based in Bkk) but I was warned by a friend to get a printed onward journey booking, even if I don't have a set date.
Am I being overly cautious?

Well said.

I remember seeing this post several years ago, a women who claimed to have been moving here with her husband, and starting a restaurant business and soon the husband ran off with a thai woman
I say this is a troll post
Oh yes it must be.
It is preposterous to think that over the course of several years there has been more than one western woman who has been dumped for a Thai girl.

I think you are misreading me. Read yesterday that another farang commited suicide over a Thai. I have read about this a lot and have friends who have come home bankrupt. To all of you who have met the woman of your dreams great good luck with it. To all you that have been left heartbroken and broke you have my sympathy.
You will always be misread here. People will reply what they want to vent, regardless of relevance, and every now and then there will be some kind of Orwellian interjection by the forum police, that's just how it is here.
Sadly yes, most people are stupid albeit with good intent and good people kill themselves here on a regular basis. A western man or woman who enters into a 'serious' relationship with a Thai has already given up, they just don't know it yet.
I've been in Thailand 12 years and never really had a bad experience with a Thai woman, but I have never really considered dating one.

'Hiso' is a primitive state of mind.
They should all be attacked for their contribution to the regression of humanity, or at least just head-butted to snap them out of their delusional state.

Rule of thumb - don't commit to anything here or create ties (no pun intended) for yourself unless you have plenty of savings, a retirement fund and are absolutely sure that you prefer and will always prefer the company of a Thai woman to that of a western woman.

Every girl I have dated in Bangkok for the past 6 years has been from a dating site. One of them was Thai.

Arf. pitiful collection of unhelpful posts here, between those who are in the know but won't admit it and those who feign indignation... *sigh* and those whose indignation is real are even more pitiful...
Many joints are ripping off tourists, but the "King's Group" of bars is known for not doing it. As far as I remember, there is a ping pong show belonging to the King's Group of bars, located approximatively mid-way on Patpong 1, on the right when coming from Sala Daeng BTS station.
I think the entrance is next to Queen's Castle 2.
There are several shows, if you make sure you go into one that belongs to the King's Group of bars, you will be safe.
The drinks aren't that expensive, I remember I took beer and it was around 100 baht.
P.S. I visited in a small group including two farang ladies
Thankyou for this.
As for the preceding comments - it's amazing how many posts of assumption and condemnation one has to trawl through before actually getting an answer. The silly moral one-upmanship is about as sincere as any Bangkok smile.
Many tourists are simply curious, and who can blame them? Was nobody here curious on their first visit?
I have no sympathy for these performers and it is very silly how some like to portray them as victims. Bangkok holds human values in minus figures and that seems to be how they like it, so leave them to it.

Friends and acquaintances visiting Thailand almost always want to see a ping pong show, and mostly it's the western women who want this experience. I know Patpong is the place to go but to see one of these shows without getting stung for 800 baht per small beer??
IS there anywhere?
As for ladyboy caberets, the only one I know of is on Sukhumvit in the Nana area.
Suggestions welcome anyway. I want these nice European ladies to experience everything they want to in this city, without falling victim to the deception and criminality which Thailand continues to let itself down on.

Exactly kurnell, I think if I hadn't been so frank and honest we'd be on page 3 by now.
Be a good person.
Be the best you can at what you do.
Appreciate life.
