Gasp…! Is this abnormal heat for this time of year….?
William C F Pierce replied to mikey88's topic in Chiang Mai
Where is it Hot? Cold water ain't hot. I remember CM in March/April 2020 at 43C and found the nice dry heat really enjoyable. When it is 27C to 30C in the UK the humidity is unbearable. -
Tourism Rebound Could Generate 3 Trillion Baht for Thailand
William C F Pierce replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The reality is governed by the value of the £ & $ against the Baht. It's not 75 Baht to a £ anymore. So there must be some truth in their figures. -

In Thailand invest in cement. You can't get anything more concrete than that. -
THE WEEK THAT WAS On racism and stereotyping in Thailand
William C F Pierce replied to rooster59's topic in Thailand News
White people do suffer disadvantage if they are poor. That is a known fact, but many by their own efforts rise above it and make something of their lives. Two well known Brits without a high education and privalege, started life as market stall barrow boys. Their names Lord Alan Sugar and Sir Richard Branson. (Branson is a known dislexic). The Asian population I pointed out had a far bigger disadvantage than the Black population; in that they could not speak English. They were willing to work towards success and overcome their disadvantage. The Black population had a 10 year head start over them. There is only one Black disadvantage and that is the lack of effort to succeed in anything other than Sport, Entertainment, Politics and Crime. As Alan Sugar, Richard Branson and the Asian Community have shown, you can succeed if you try. -
THE WEEK THAT WAS On racism and stereotyping in Thailand
William C F Pierce replied to rooster59's topic in Thailand News
Unfortunately, we are living in a world that is defining racism as only white people denigrating black or coloured people. Speaking of the UK, whenever has anyone ever heard a black person condem the never ending racism by black people. The murder of the white police officer PC Blakelock in the middle of a riot. Not one black voice in protest ever. The black men who think it is alright to spit in the face of a white woman, if they object to her going out with another black man. If a well known sportsman gets called a silly name on Social Media. They cry their eyes out, with all hell breaks loose in the National Press. When they earn enough money to be crying their eyes out to the nearest bank. The Windrush arrived in the UK from the Carribean, in 1948 with all of them speaking English. Then 10 years later the Asian population arrived, none of them able to speak English. The Asian population worked hard and are in every type of business going. Doctors, lawyers, accountants, shopkeepers, building companies, factory owners, etc. 4% of the population are Black. 4% of the population are Asian. The black MPs are continuously demanding a law creating "Diversity". The Asian cummunity created diversity without any special laws. A "Diversity Law" would wreck the English Soccer team where 40% of the players are black. About 30% to 40% of TV adverts have Black Actors. Are the White majority being continuously subjected to covert Black Racism under the guise of fighting racism. Is it just the case that the black population wants Priority, Preference and Privilage over all others? Just as the Black population wiped out the Neanderthals. Is there another attempt to racially wipe out the white population? If so, the consequences will eventually reach Thailand if you let it. -
Bangkok increases in popularity amongst expats
William C F Pierce replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It would be interesting to see the list of the 10 that are better than BKK. I have often seen CM listed as the best. I don't know if it still is. Its variety of International rstaurants, with a variety of more sports and activities than BKK. Plus it is surrounded by numerous National Parks that BKK does not have. There can't be many places in BKK where you can buy a Home with a garden like in CM. Therefore whatever BKK has CM matches it with a lot more. Yes both BKK & CM do suffer bad pollution, so equal in that respect. -
Problems with food parcels in Thailand
William C F Pierce replied to ikke1959's topic in General Topics
The Thai employees of the International Couriors (FedX, UPS and DHL) will rip you off for everything they can. One parcel I sent cost a total of 3700B so called duty. I received by post, an invoice from Thai Customs for 200B for this package. Avoid these Courior Sharks at all cost. -
TM30 reporting for visa extension
William C F Pierce replied to Dennis133's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I do my own TM30 when I arrive. Just taking the rental contract to immigration. In and out in less than 5 minutes. No title deed s needed. They only need to know where you are staying. Not what you or someone else owns. -

If he was around today. He would not be considered a criminal, but exonerated under International laws of Human Rights. The Roman Governor did not consider he had done any wrong, but was only willing to bow to the wishes of the local Pharisees.
-
Just because he rejected the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth of the Pharisees by preaching love thy neighbour as thy self did not make him a criminal.

If you don't moan you end up with everyone behaving like sheep subjugated by Dictators.

Sorry. You are correct on the $1000. The official information says you can get permanent residency after 3 years. I have not seen the every 2 year bit, but overall the Upsides are all far better than Thailand. Especially the 90 day sign on. If they changed the Land ownership rules in Thailand I would reconsider Chiang Mai. In Thailand a foreigner is a Government ATM where they take as much tax from as they think they can get away with!

That's just one friend. There's always one. You forget all the thousands that have given up on Thailand. I spent less years going to Spain than Thailand and the language is easier to learn than Thai with all their tones ( Tone, Toan and Toni). One UPSIDE I forgot Costa Rica does not have Thailand's impinging air pollution.
