  1. Look, if you guys can't handle the "Male Only" runs then so be it, come to a "Mixed" hash. Like I said before, I have been running with both the male hashes and the mixed hash for 2 years now and have experienced and seen/heard no problems.

Again I will say, I am not sure if you have run recently or not MJM but it is unfair to the hash and potential hashers to bash us with no current experience in the hash.

  2. Do you have any evidence that proves their figures are accurate?

If we all believed what we were told where would that leave us?

I just try to find all available information before I draw any conclusions and the only available figures I have found so far have been from the government (PCD).

  3. Today does seem particularly bad.

Definitely the worst I have seen since moving here 6 months ago.

Whether it is the worst probably varies with your exact location, but yesterday and today are definitely among the worst so far this year. At the PCD's "Chiang Mai" site the PM-10 level was (in the 24-hour period ending at 9:00 AM today) 119.7 ug/m3, whereas at Uparaj College it was a whopping 145.7 ug/m3 :D

Let's hope for some wind and no inversion :o Rain would probably be too much to ask for :D

    / Priceless

I have seen the figures and follow these threads, but I would be very interested in seeing independent figures ragarding the air pollution here.

We all know the negative effect on tourism pollution causes so I would be curious to see if the actual numbers provided by the goverment were accurate.

China is a perfect example of biased figures. Stations in Beijing were moved from polluted areas to less polluted ones and I believe the actual number of stations were also reduced. This is because they need to meet certain requirments for the upcoming Olympics.

Wonderful, we have the seeds of a new conspiracy theory thread! :D

    / Priceless

No conspiracy, it is well known that similiar situtations have been influenced in the past.

  4. This is the CH4 which has been around for a few years. We are now running on Sunday so as to not interfere and allow hashers who could otherwise not, join in on weekend runs both Saturday and Sunday.

As to the "problems" you have mentioned frequently, maybe you did experience something, but in the few years I have been here I see no problems. So please in the future try not to post anything negative about the Hash, you have not run in a few years and your statements may be turning people away from an otherwise good time.

Come to a few runs, then you can judge for yourself and post from "experience" how you currently feel about the Hash.

  6. I will be adding the Sunday mixed hash updates to this thread also. The mixed hash is for everyone; men women and children and sometimes special pets. The Sunday Mixed hash meets every Sunday at the Fish n' Chip shop across from the UN Irish Pub. Pick up at 4pm run at 5pm.

This Sunday's Mixed hash will be out near Doi Saket.

Drive to and into Doi Saket town, at the T-Junction in town turn right. After about 800 meters turn left and follow Hash signs. Pick up at the Fish n' Chips at 4pm, run at 5pm.

    On on.

  7. I have just flew in from BKK tonight. I guess our flight took us over Lamphun and Lampang as we were descending towards Chiang Mai. It seemed the whole of these provinces were on fire. There were fires big an small as far as you could see. But as we flew over the ridge and into the Chiang Mai valley the fires disappeared, I could not even see one.

I am always a skeptic but this ban seems to be working; in the valley at least.

  8. With all joking aside, would it be possible to get the local Monks to bless the trees? It seems that the trees with yellow and orange ribbon tied around them never get touched.

Or maybe you could tie some ribbon around your favorite trees? If the workers think they have ghosts in them I am sure they would leave them alone.

  9. This Tuesday's CUMH3 (25-03) is 3.7K from Canal road/ Samoeng Intersection Towards Hang Dong (South) follow HHH signs, Dog S.h.i.t Proclaims it's the best run ever!! (or his best run, which is easy...)

Run @ 5 Pick up from Fish n Chips at 4

    ON Oooooooooooooooon

BEER IS THE FRUIT OF OUR LABOUR !

    BIRRA EMOLUMENTA LABORUM !

  10. To be honest it sounds like a scam by your apartment block owner. Any additional costs associated with this change in contract?

No, not a scam. I have been here for over a year and there are no costs to go along with it. The girlfriend also said she has heard about this before but it was never enforced.

She is in Uni so this would affect all her friends. She said most of them also know about it.

  11. The owner of my apartment building just told the girlfriend and I that we need to do a new contract for our stay. Thailand is now enforcing a law that states people under 25 are not allowed to live together unless they are married. Our contract was in the girlfriends name but now it must be changed to mine.

The details were a bit foggy but the owner of the building feels that there is enough pressure from the powers that be to enforce this on all his tenants.

Does anyone else know about this? Do you have any more information? The owner and the girlfriend are a bit confused about this as am I.

I hope this does not turn into the same situation they have in Laos where you cannot stay with a person of the opposite sex unless you are married. There, you face imprisonment and or a fine. I recently met a guy in Laos who was hit with this and had to pay a hefty fine.

  12. Sorry I missed it and I promise to make the next one.

    With her or without..

Actually you were kind of lucky to have missed it. As the Monday and Tuesday runs are for the MEN only we would have given you quite a bit of abuse; in drinking fashion of course!

The mixed hash which includes both the boys and the girls run every week on Saturday and on Sunday. I personally prefer the Male Hashes as there is none of the problems that you mentioned above. The only time I get a hassle from the missuses is when I am about to leave for the run and she voices her disapproval but that quickly ends when I shut the door behind me! :o

  13. I had just bought a brand new Yamaha Nouvo. After riding it for all of about 2 weeks it had a staggering 250kms on it. Parked it at my place one night at about 3:30am (this is when i was young) I remember because I had to be quiet sneaking back to my room. I had something to do the next morning so woke up early at about 9am. I went to get on my bike and it was gone. I am sure some of you can relate to not remembering where you parked after a good session of drinking. Well I began to retrace my steps from the previous night before and came to the conclusion that I did park it here and now it is gone!

Called the cops filled out a report and about 6 months later I read in the paper of a gang who was busted stealing bikes from in and around the Somphet area and then selling them over the border in Burma. 6 months to find these guys who admitted to stealing around 50-60 bikes. Great work.

  14. 2008 will mark the 21st year of the event. Great fun for both players and spectators. Thoroughly recommended.

This is the 2007 program cover. Can anyone guess who the "Cover Boy" is? :o If anyone can guess where the ball was in this picture I will buy you a carton of Beer Lao.

Mike Gatting (former UK International) is bottom left.

When you found out who was on the cover how many copies did you decide to stash away for future "when I was young..." stories to tell the Grandkids?

  15. Apparently, apparently, Number 1 bar was fined 12000 baht last night (Sunday) for being open at about 9pm.

But everything seemed back to normal in the wee hours.

I checked with Number 1 and this is not correct. They opened at 2pm (normal opening time for them) the police came at 9pm and told them to close until after midnight. They were not fined and didn't reopen at midnight. My source is Avon (the manager) and Joy (the owner) who is yours?

    CB

CB, are you saying that in Chiang Mai rumors can be started that may or may not be true? Are you also implying that these rumors can damage a businesses reputation for no reason except that the person who started the rumor said they:

Heard it from a friend who

Heard it from a friend who

Heard it from another you been messin around

They say you got a boy friend

    Youre out late every weekend

Theyre talkin about you and its bringin me down

    But I know the neighborhood

And talk is cheap when the story is good

And the tales grow taller on down the line

    But Im telling you, babe

That I dont think its true, babe

And even if it is keep this in mind

    {refrain}

You take it on the run baby

If thats the way you want it baby

Then I dont want you around

    I dont believe it

    Not for a minute

Youre under the gun so you take it on the run

Youre thinking up your white lies

Youre putting on your bedroom eyes

You say youre coming home but you wont say when

But I can feel it coming

If you leave tonight keep running

And you need never look back again

    {refrain x 3}

Heard it from a friend who

Heard it from a friend who

Heard it from another you been messin around - REO Speedwagon
